RE5 was awesome in coop for sure. Single player felt eh but coop was where it was at in RE5. RE6 is what killed the franchise tho for a little while, with tedious repetition, even in coop. Sad too because they brought back my boy Leon.

I had to make assumptions considering they showed us a whole what... six Pokemon?

Could be it is still early in development, it's just that they can churn out a mobile game start to finish in two years as opposed to the six everyone's come to expect at this point. Either way they're probably over half, so I guess "super early" is still exaggerated but I'm not seeing much game here. More of a proof of concept. Might even expect to see delay.

I'm assuming they're pretty far into development, especially if they're hitting that late Nov to early Dec release date. Usually they go gold weeks before that even. All in all they probably have like 7 months of dev time left and they've been working on for over 2 years.

I played it solo and found it pretty terrible, but I never played it coop.

I'd probably buy RE4 at $15 or so, gonna be waiting awhile I guess.

While I don't care about the Pokemon series, I was excited to see it. It looked pretty epic as far as a Pokemon rpg goes. I won't get it unless my kids get into it.

2019 Is loaded for Switch even if there is a few more delays. I assume there will be more reveals up through E3, and expect something big to get delayed to 2020. If Zelda and Pokemon are late 2019, I'd rather animal crossing get delayed to early/spring 2020.

Still waiting for the low hanging fruit of Switch Sports and Mario Golf.

RE5 was a lot more enjoyable with couch coop. Especially when you had to dupe (eggs?) some stuff -- thats the only memory I have of it left. But I do remember it was enjoyable playing together.

I never got into Pokemon and now I feel too old to really care about it other than in Smash, but I have to admit that gameplay and graphics look really awesome, it actually makes me wish I had grown up with it or had some connection with it, because I would love a straight up stand-alone RPG that uses that exact same art style.

For the longest time, I was annoyed that they were porting so many Wii U games to the Switch. But now, it's getting to the point that most of the best Wii U games have either been ported, or have a sequel that basically replaces it, so I kind of want them to just double down and port everything over. If they could make it where pretty much every Wii U game I could want to play is on the Switch, I would happily buy them all. Then I could have all of these great Nintendo games on one hybrid system and not even need to have my Wii U hooked up anymore. So far we have:

Ports
Bayonetta
Bayonetta 2
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Hyrule Warriors
Lego City Undercover
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
Pokken Tournament DX

Sequels That Replace
Mario Tennis Aces (I guess you could argue this one)
Splatoon 2
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Super Mario Maker 2
Super Mario Party (Could argue this one too)

Remaining Wii U Games
Paper Mario: Color Splash
Wasn't well-received, would probably be best to just release a better Paper Mario game.

Pikmin 3
There have been rumors, they're either going to port this or release Pikmin 4.

Star Fox Zero
I still haven't played it, but doesn't seem like it was well received, so this one seems unlikely.

Super Mario 3D World
This one is tough for me. I loved the game, so it's the game I would most like to see ported to Switch. BUT, I would much rather them make a sequel, and I don't know that they would do both. So if I had to pick, I'd rather a sequel.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD
I think we're likely to see these games on the Switch some day. Some kind of pack containing the first 5 3D Zelda games would be amazing, but super unlikely.

Wii Sports Club
Seems like Wii Sports has been mentioned a lot lately so I thought I'd include this. I'd be surprised if we don't get some kind of motion-sports game at some point.

Xenoblade Chronicles X
From wiki: Takahashi has stated that he has contemplated porting the game to the Nintendo Switch, but doing so would be dependent on gauging fan demand for the game.

Yoshi's Woolly World
This would be my 2nd biggest want, but unfortunately, it seems unlikely. They already ported it to 3DS, and Crafted World is coming out soon. I don't see this one coming to Switch.

Did I leave out any notable Wii U games? What would you most like to see them port?

It's definitely one of the lesser Platinum made games, right up there with The Legend of Korra or TMNT Mutants in Manhattan. SFZ had so much damn potential too, but poor controls and level structure halted it's progress. I just feel at it's core, with standardized controls, it will at least be a passable SF game. I remember on the last Andross boss fight on the Wii U, I almost broke my gamepad trying to navigate around the map to find him in that weird cylinder like thing because I had to keep moving the gamepad manually up and down and all around. So frustrating.

If they made BoTW work without a second screen on Switch from the Wii U, they can turn SFZ around a little, but I'm not so sure Nintendo wants to remember a game that bombed so hard by Ninty's standards so I don't think they will be porting that game to the Switch anytime soon. Pikmin 3 is a sure fire contender I think for a near future Switch port.

They put the weird controls into Starfox because Nintendo was trying to justify a reason for having the extra screen. Didn't really work out too well.

28-Feb-2019(#37)
Even the Wii U version of BotW didn't need the second screen. If I remember correctly a lot of people were disappointed that it made no real use of the GamePad because Nintendo wanted the game to offer the exact same experience on both consoles. The only thing the GamePad was required for was the tilt controls for solving puzzles in some shrines, which made it impossible to play through the Wii U version with just a Pro Controller.
TalonJedi87
Double Gold Good Trader Has Written 4 Reviews
28-Feb-2019(#38)
Ya that's right. I had the Wii U version of BoTW and I was like how the heck do you not allow a map on the second screen, yet require the 2nd screen gamepad for puzzle solving motion tilting controls nonsense? It was just a weird design aesthetic and, yes, most likely was just Ninty trying to justify the Wii U's gamepad at that point.

They're all just too similar and nowhere near as memorable as the old side-scrollers. No "style" change kinda kills it for me. Like I always say, I'd love another game with the SMW aesthetic but also acknowledge that it's all the different "versions" and "styles" of the graphics and game worlds that made the original series so endearing. Obviously due to graphical limitations at the time but that added to the charm... the 3D model for Mario never changes in style like the old sprites did and it's getting boring to look at. At least in a side-scrolling setting.

I do agree, but I also like the new art style. I wish they would do totally different "worlds" with their own elements like Mario 3 did but with new school graphics.

I think I am one of the only people here who didn't really love Odysee and it got a bit old looking for a million moons, it just started to get a bit boring for me. I love the fast paced action and mechanics of the 2D and 2.5D (3D world) games more, and the local multiplayer aspects are just plain fun.

4 man on these games is incredibly fun, and the only real thing that Maker lacks. I really don't get why they don't incorporate that in Maker..

Ya exactly.

I liked it for sure, but it just didn't have lasting power and I was ready for it to be over by the end of it. I don't know why I felt that way, I mean I loved Galaxy 1 and 2, and of course 64, something about this game was kind of off though, not as fun etc.

I disagree that it's better than Super Mario Odyssey but I agree it can be fun to play in multiplayer, but it really felt like multiplayer was added as an afterthought (I think the same about Super Mario 3D World). The levels are exactly the same no matter the number of people playing and teamwork is not required for anything. I've been playing Ms. Splosion Man on Switch lately and it's really fun and actually requires teamwork in multiplayer (in fact the multiplayer levels are completely different than the single player levels, so if you plan to play through both it's like you're getting double the content).

Guru wrote:

Hell yes. I don't think any of them are bad games, but they're not exactly great Mario games. And it kinda bugs me that they make them all look the same. I think if I posted a dozen screenshots from the series I bet most people couldn't match them to the specific game they came from.

I loved NSMB DS when it came out. Before it was announced, I figured Nintendo was just done with 2D Mario, so I was thrilled to learn that wasn't the case. Going back and playing it now, it does feel a bit rough around the edges, but at the time, I thought it was amazing. Then came NSMBW, which I felt was a pretty nice step-up from the DS game. Sure, it was the same "style", but they improved/added a lot. I didn't play NSMB2 when it came out, so NSMBU was next for me. Again, it did feel like a nice step up. There were some added features/mechanics, and the levels felt more polished than ever. It's definitely the best NSMB game, and the one I enjoyed playing the most. I think that's where I kind of hit my wall on the series though. I didn't play NSMB2 until several years later and was pretty underwhelmed when I finally did, especially due to the lack of mechanics NSMBU had. Plus, I'd officially had enough of the NSMB "style" by that point.

I think now would be the perfect time for them to try something new with 2D Mario, and they have the perfect game to draw inspiration from, Super Mario Odyssey! There's actually a fan made Mario game based on Odyssey that looks really good.

I really liked the 3ds 3d Mario game too, and I usually much prefer the 2d ones. I really liked the first NSMB

Really surprised by all the people saying they prefer SM3DL over SM3DW. SM3DW improved upon what SM3DL established in basically every way. I actually just replayed SM3DL too. It's a great game, but I just can't see how anyone can think it's better. I know opinions and stuff, this just feels like a case where one is objectively better than the other.

To me the tighter level constraints with the smaller frame and larger characters led to much more fun level design, and I wasn't picking up on many of the gimmicks 3DW was laying down. Once you unlock the Special levels stuff starts to get hectic.

Also, fudge cats.

I think you and I talked about this once before, but I don't think the levels in 3DW are as big as you're remembering. There were the occasional levels that had a larger, more open design that you had to explore a bit, but most were fairly narrow and linear, just like 3DL.

What gimmicks are your referring to? All I can think of is the times you have to use the gamepad, which I'll definitely admit were annoying and the only notable con the game had, really.

I love the cat suit, it's one of my favorite power-ups ever in Mario. Really glad they're adding it to MM2.

I agree 100%. NSMBU Was the only game in the "New" series that is on par with the originals.

I don't, ah...

...I really don't want to go back and forth over subjective opinions again... So don't think I'm like, ignoring you. I'm just pretending I don't see you over there white knighting for SM3DW. I'm glad you like it.

I loved NSMBU on WiiU. But that might have been new system syndrome. Because I had little interest in finishing it when I bought it for Nintendo Switch and quickly sold it.
