yeah that sealed the deal for me. For $34'ish? Hell ya I'll play around with it. But after hearing how impressed people are I kinda wanna see Nintendo support it with future games. Imagine Mario Kart VR, Metroid Prime Trilogy VR, Virtual Boy Collection, WarioWare VR.

I really want to see MK8Dx VR since they already have VR MK arcade. Since its not being advertised now I'm assuming there are hardware limitations. frown

Still pretty excited to try what they're offering though after reading hands on impressions and reviews.

Negative. It's $50, just like Best Buy. The stand-alone DLC is down to 20 though.

i saw something once and someone else told me that torna is best played somewhere in the middle of the game if you havent already played xc2. maybe like after chapter 6 or 7 or something like that. then go back to the main xc2 game, but i havent played it yet so i dont know

Yeah, it was actually Monolith's studio head that said people should play Xeno 2 through chapter 7, play Torna, and then go back to Xeno 2. The whole Torna arc seemed to have been summed up pretty well between chapters 7 and 8 in the main game which is the only reason I skipped the DLC. Maybe there's more to it than I think there is. Plus it's a pretty short experience by JRPG standards (about 20-25 hours) so maybe I should pick it up. $20 is a really nice price.

Had Justin order Diablo III for switch for me. $39.99 best buy, $32 GCU. Time to pick it up. Amazon is sold out of NEW copies. Only 3rd party sellers have it now. I wanted it on switch so I figured now was the time.

Man super exciting switch time! Playing Skyrim. Soon to get FFX, Dragon's Dogma, Diablo III, Labo VR, FFXII, and MK11.

The mini-bosses right before Bowser were also pretty tough because it was a series of battles that you didn't get to heal up in-between. Most of the game was pretty easy but I enjoyed the difficulty level.

The other significant thing is ability to move saves to another switch. I told people at the time, don't worry when the updated system comes out they'll do something. Now just to wait and see what this refresh looks like.

Finally tried out Star Soldier on Switch the other night. The nostalgia was nice for a little while, but once that wore off, it was ROUGH. Could only stand a few more minutes of it before I turned it off. It's the only game in the series I've played. I'd like to try the others some time. What about the ones after Soldier Blade: Star Parodier, Vanishing Earth, and Star Soldier R. Are they worth playing?

Parodier is fun but don't think of it as a sequel, it's more of a tongue in cheek gag of the genre. Haven't played R. All three of the TG/PCE hucard based titles are superb imo.

It's definitely worth a go, if just for the amusement factor alone. I mean you can play as a flying PC Engine console and shoot out cds. laughing out loud Aside from that since it was so easy it actually had me coming back for a bit until I did it with no deaths because I knew I could.

It's been awhile since I've played these and those other 3 are all excellent but iirc Final Soldier is just the nutter butters. I could very well be getting them somewhat mixed up though.

Honestly, i think the more features that they pack into the main menu, the less snappy the interface is gonna be. I'm perfectly fine losing out on some things like bulky themes and looped music if it means i can jump between the eshop, some settings, and a game within like 5 seconds.

Shouldn't cloud saves have helped with that though (minus the few games that don't support it)? Or is this feature only helpful to the people who don't pay for Switch online?

Doing it locally is probably the best route to go because everyone can use it whenever they want. Cloud saves should be a thing too.

A little bit, like when I first open it and try to school down to Great Deals or whatever it's called, it usually lags a second or so, then when I click on one of the categories, it's kind of laggy as it loads the games. Once I'm scrolling through the list and clicking on games, I don't really have a problem.

They should happen automatically. You can press the + button on a game's icon and see if the save has been backed up. Once in a while though when I start a game I get a message "your save file didn't back up properly" or something like that. I just ignore it but I never figured out why it says that.

Do you know if, when they added it, did it automatically go back and backup past saves, or just saves created/updated from that point forward?

This is what I experience. It's a bit annoying. It does seem slow to load up the games in the list as well. I have decent network performance too. It's only laggy in the eshop.

So I got the goggles folded and played the "demo" games. I have never done a labo, and if there is an update I have not downloaded it. The build was easy, but moving through the instructions was unclear. I could only fast forward through the video (super fast), or play it at normal speed by holding a button (paused upon release). Maybe they have the ability to play the video at a normal pace without holding a button, but I didn't find it. Mine has specks of lint on the lenses which is annoying, will clean off later.

The demo games available up front were a big meh in general (12 of them?), much like the lesser games in Wii Play. There was a platformer that was fun but way too short, a couple weak Wii Sports knock-offs (don't expect anything close to Wii Sports), and some straight up VR tech demos. There is more to unlock, but not sure how much of that is tied to the other packages.

As for VR, tracking is excellent, but there is noticeable motion blur while tracking head movement. The image is definately pixelated at all times, presumably similar to comparably priced VR (haven't played any). My wife who typically suffers from motion sickness had no issues playing it, but mentioned it was probably not something she could play for extended periods of time without getting a headache. I can't imagine playing Zelda BotW this way for much more than a try it experience.

Haven't built the blaster or whatever else is included, and there are more mini games to play. It's not a mind blowing experience, but for $40 it's still interesting. Anyone expecting a $500 VR experience will be sorely disappointed. Will play more later in the week and update.

It will be interesting to get insight from someone who's played VR.

I wanna just wait a little longer until Nintendo gives the ok for 3rd parties/indies to support it. Full Castlevania Anniversary Collection game list shown and release date.

https://www.polygon.com/2019/4/18/18484715/castlev...

Konami announced the full eight-game lineup for its upcoming Castlevania Anniversary Collection on Thursday, confirming the inclusion of classic games like Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest and one important rarity in Kid Dracula.

Back in March, Konami announced four of the titles included in the Castlevania Anniversary Collection: the original Castlevania (NES), Castlevania 2: Belmont's Revenge (Game Boy), Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse (NES), and Super Castlevania 4 (Super NES).

Rounding out the collection will be Castlevania The Adventure (Game Boy), Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest (NES), Castlevania Bloodlines (Sega Genesis), and Kid Dracula (Famicom). The last game on that list received a Game Boy remake/sequel in North America, but the original Kid Dracula (aka Akumajō Special: Boku Dracula-kun) was only released on Famicom in Japan.

Castlevania Anniversary Collection will be released on May 16 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC via Steam, and Xbox One. The collection is priced at $19.99.

Konami also released its Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection today. It includes one Castlevania spinoff, the 1988 game Haunted Castle, as well as A-JAX, Nemesis, Vulcan Venture, Salamander, Thunder Cross, Scramble, and TwinBee. It's available through the Nintendo Switch eShop, PlayStation Store, Steam, and Xbox Games Store for $19.99.

Without SotN or any of the GBA/DS games, I'll probably pass

I bought Cuphead on the eShop last week. The release date is 4/18, I guess I was stupid to hope it could be played at midnight last night, but it wasn't. Here we are at noon (eastern) and it still says I can't play it yet. Wtf?

edit: it went live at around 12:30. It's pretty fun

I want the Arcade collection. It's got Haunted Castle which is the only Castlevania game I wanted that I can't get somewhere else anyways. I mean, technically you can get it on PSN on PS3 but like... a non-dead system.

Looks like Cuphead on the Switch is a perfect 1:1 port. That's really cool to see and I hope that we can get some more X1 games on the Switch so it can be my portable Xbox of sorts (except when games require pressure sensitive triggers, like Forza).

Is it based off the first game or is it original?

It's an adaptation of the first game, but it's not really fair to compare the two. It's more like Super CV4 than it is Castlevania, just... loads better

Ok last question before I decide if I will buy this at full price. Is there a physical release?

Probably not for a long bit yet. Most arcade adaptations and compilations don't get physical releases, and if they do it's rare to get them here. Capcom beat em up comp was japan only

I would be more excited about both if they were full collections.
