Why 3ds, is it cheaper?

I'm curious too. I enjoyed Retro City Rampage

Not that I know of.
With Retro City Rampage I originally tried it for around 30 minutes on PS Vita and didn't like it at all. I waited a while and tried it on PlayStation 3 next but again didn't like it. A couple years later the 3DS version was in an eShop Humble Bundle (which I really wish they'd do another one for Switch eShop games) so I tried it yet again. I don't really know what it was, but this time I liked it and played all the way through it. Just for that reason alone I was considering getting the 3DS version of Shakedown Hawaii, though I'm not 100% decided yet. I still play 3DS pretty much daily, so it's not like I'd be dusting it off just for this one game.
edit: Judging by some of the reviews I've seen, I think I should wait for a sale no matter which system I get it on.

https://slickdeals.net/f/13071136-nintendo-switch-...Alot of games on my wanted list, many metroidvanias. I'm interested in and haven't played: The Messenger, Guacameles, Owlboy, Steamworld Digs. Probably get the first SWD for $3 and one more.
I haven't played anything on sale (except Worms) and I enjoy good classics, anything else I should consider?

No. $10 max if you adore this type of game. My son liked it for awhile but then kinda got stuck progressing, and I found it pretty dull overall. It has it's moments but it's a budget impulse pickup for sure.

Very good, solid 2D platform-action game. It starts a bit slow, but it's a really solid game. I also picked those other two up four cheap. I'm thinking about FastRMX and Steamworld Dig, even thigh I own the Wii U versions for both.

I just played Fast RMX last night for the first time in probably 8 or 9 months. I suck in the single player mode, it gets too difficult too early. So I decided to try some online races and only one other person was playing. I did a few races against him while hoping more people would join, but it never happened so I played something else. If you were thinking of getting it for the multiplayer, I wouldn't recommend it unless you have people locally to play with.

10-May-2019(#28)I picked up Guacamele, SWD, and The Way (so far). $12.99 after gold coins earned by each purchase (plus a few I had from Gunman Clive). Tempted to pick up Mutant Mudds $3 and Guns Gore & Canoli $6-7. I'm assuming we'll see some good sales going through e3.

Definitely check out gameplay vids and some reviews. If I recall correctly, it wasn't worth full price, but on sale it might be worthwhile. It looks gorgeous, that's for sure.

Thanks for the heads up. Was thinking about it but then looked at my current switch games I still need to beat. Skyrim, FFX, FFXII, Diablo III, Valkyrie Chronicles 4. Then Crash Team Racing and Bloodstained in June. No time.

11-May-2019(#34)I picked up the "Big Block" Tetris 99 DLC for $10. It includes an offline version of Tetris 99 (1-5 difficulty) and a marathon mode (either 150 lines or basically classic mode.. 999 lines). There will be a second pack released later in the year, looks like 2 more games based on the current layout. I hope one is type b.

First impression on level 5 seems to be about as difficult as your average online contest give or take, maybe a little easier. Only played a few matches though.

11-May-2019(#41)The Way is very decent so far, and at $.99 it's a no brainer if you like exploration puzzlers. One chapter in the story/ atmosphere is well done, and I love the look. Really interested to see where it goes.

No, it really isn't. I only played the CPU on level 5 twice. I won the second time, no problem.

I got it on sale and have been playing through it. The graphics/art, music and the platforming is pretty solid. The controls aren't as tight as MARIO, but it's pretty fun IMO

Some of the puzzles later in the game are real head scratchers. I've had to look two up so far. It's actually held my interest more than Steam World Dig and Guacamelee so far cause the story hooked me right away.

I picked up. Im enjoying it as I'm a fan of GTA and have only played SR2 which I enjoyed. I have noticed some frame rate dip pretty frequently, but I'm good until the patch comes out... assuming it will fix those things.

So just finished it. Definately a handful of frustrating moments due to the controls and how slow your character moves. The last stage was a step up in non puzzle difficulty. Really enjoyed the story as light as it was it had a lot of depth of that makes any sense.

Me and PizzatheHutt were asking if anyone got it, but no one piped up. I enjoyed Retro City DX, but will wait a price drop for shakedown Hawaii

They added the ability to select up to two level type descriptors (standard, puzxle, short, auto, etc.), rate levels as good AND *bad*, and have you the ability to search in game by these categories. It's not exactly what I wanted, but it's a heck of a lot more than I expected.
I just hope the users rate appropriately, and Nintendo cracks down on crapty levels. I'd like to see the ability to link levels online to create a game (screw the over world map many online are asking for). Would really like to see SMB2, but that's a pipe dream (or DLC).
Honestly it looks great. Day one buy for me, might even go digital.

I just sold my XB1 as I haven't touched it in months. I play the Switch regularly.

16-May-2019(#69)It all depends on what you're into. I'm big into racing games and so far the X1 is the best console to date for that genre. Game Pass has also really stepped it up in the past few months and its getting to the point that I'm wondering if I should even bother buying new games any more because of additions of things like Prey, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Just Cause 4, Wolfenstein NC, Forza Horizon 4, and Wargroove, not to mention everything else that MS is releasing this year like Gears 5, Battletoads, Void Bastards, Ninja Theories new game, and Ori 2. I could understand the lack of appeal if you're big into JRPGs though.

My guess is by rating a level as bad it just makes it so you won't run into it again the next time you play 100 Mario Challenge (or whatever that gets replaced with) and that rating a level bad won't actually be seen by the level's creator because they wouldn't want kids' feelings to get hurt.

16-May-2019(#74)I just grabbed Phoenix Wright and FF X/X-2 physical edition imports. Love having physical copies when I can get it, and the FF X/X-2 combo in the states is part cart and part code...that's lame. So I guess Japan/Asia copies have both games on one 32GB cart and play normally in English. PRetty excited to replay X and never played X-2, so that'll be another thing. Going to be a big year for switch.

16-May-2019(#76)Etherealescent wrote:> So I guess Japan/Asia copies have both games on one

As far as I know there are only two Switch games that ship on 32GB carts (Dragon Quest Heroes I&II being the other, which released at Switch's launch) and neither released outside of Japan. Why are publishers here so cheap? We got Wolfenstein coming in July and when you buy the physical version it's literally just a download code in the box, so they couldn't even be bothered to do the half-on-cart/half-download like other big games do.
