You sometimes can go by TFs though. Stadia was supposed to be more powerful than a little less than 2 X1Xs and the reason why its not doing full 4k now is because that part isn't really ready. Google was retarded and launched the thing pretty much in beta. You do see differences between some games on the PS4 Pro and X1X though which shows the higher TF console pushing games like RDR2 at full 4k vs Pro's checkerboard and lower quality visuals. I think if they made a pro and only went like 1.5x OG Switch's power it would be a terrible move because at that point you're at pretty much X1's power and that console hardly hits 900p these days.

I don't think having an additional little nub ala new 3ds is quite the same as saying, hey this particular game will only run the better/higher performing switch.

The pro's definitely coming but I don't think they're going to release games that don't run on the baseline system. I liked the N3DS too, but people are stupid.

Nintendo seems like they're really not good when following other developer's lead when it comes to tech but when they're doing their own thing thats when they really shine. Its one of the reasons why I think they're never going to need to chase console power again and will only do enough to keep the 3rd party devs happy.

What do you mean by collectible? Horde things on the shelf and try not to touch them for many years as they gain value? Or just gather more and more games and build a library vs selling/trading games more quickly?

I think what the Switch does well is that since it's portable people are more likely to hang onto games because it's nice to have some choices when traveling. I fudging hate Arms but if I'm gonna be stuck on a plane with my son, it may come in handy. So it's not going anywhere even though we don't play it because daddy curses too much.

But if this about putting a sealed copy of Mario Odyssey on the shelf and never opening it...then no.

I mean more just like building a small library of good games to display on the shelf AND play. I just like the Switch portable as a console more.

You guys are nuts dreaming of 4k on Switch Pro. There's no way they're doing that given that it's the current norm to hit 720p handheld, maybe 1080p docked. The increases needed for 4k (even just docked) would be a next-gen hardware leap. And it wouldn't really help the visual impression when games are as stylized as Luigi's Mansion 3. There's no real need for 4k tbh.

I think the Pro is gonna be about lower power consumption, fixing the fudging trash joycon reliability, and speeding up load times. If that's all they do, at $350-$400 it'll sell.

dustin11

8-Jan(#21)
The power draw from that thing in portable mode at 4k would require a battery that you would need to wear like a back pack. Just look at the X1X and how well it was built, now you're talking about shrinking that thing down to around the size of the Switch.....thats crazy talk. Something like that won't exist for probably 10 years, and by then it would probably be ran off the cloud.

I figured Pokemon was holding back Pokemon in Sword and Shield for an expansion pass or a Poke'Pass if you will. That's where the money is, sadly. Not in the actual game, but in the DLC or microtransacations nowadays. It was only a matter of time before Pokemon fell victim to it's corporate seductive dark side.

If they do make a Pro model Switch, I can't imagine them making it any bigger. The Switch is already huge. Not just the screen, but also the total form factor. My kid's both got a Switch Lite for Christmas, and while I haven't played anything on it yet, just helping them get set up, I very much preferred the overall size of it. It just felt much better in the hands. I think if anything, I'd rather them go in that direction.

Switch Lite has a smaller screen than most flagship XL phones. I think iPad Mini size is probably a good stepping stone before the full fledged iPad sized Switch.

How do the South Park games run on Switch? I remember when one first launched it had lots of bugs, including one that deleted your save and also had some audio issues. I'd hope it's patched up by now?
They're both on sale in a bundle for $23.09 on PSN, and it'd cost $35 to buy them (separately) on eShop, but I'd kinda rather play them on Switch. Should I just save the money and get it on PS4 instead?

Pokemon, the only game series that gets away with releasing a slight variant of the same game every year, while releasing 2 copies at the same price with minor differences. Imagine if EA or Activision did this.

The difference is each game is a complete game on it's own and you don't have to pay more to beat it.

Also this is the only game Nintendo does it with. Whereas every EA game is an ass rape.

They're also consistently well-received from the core fan base, which can't be said for the others.

There's a reason annual releases exist - because certain gamers do want a new installment of the games they enjoy each year. It's just that folks like EA/Activision don't release consistent quality products whereas it seems Nintendo/Pokemon do.

This is so true. I'll even see the same people buying the same COD, Madden, NBA 2K, FIFA, etc. every year and doging about it. I mean, it's ok to complain about aspects of a game you like overall. It's just funny.

To be fair, they can't win either. If they keep too much the same, it's stale. If they change too much, it used to be better, and they should change it back.

Fans in general are fickle and gamers are no exception.

I understand the need for DLC but $30 a pop for each expansion is steep to me. They might as well just have come out with a 3rd Pokemon game this generation at $60. I cannot imagine both expansions tallying the length of a full game. I mean if it does then that's fine, but I doubt it. And does anyone else find it shady that only a month or so ago Game Freak states they have no plans to add anymore Pokemon to Sword/Shield and now this? I'm not really buying the whole this was for the fans because of "backlash". Seems too convenient for me. I think they had this planned from the get.

Oh, are they $30 each? I thought it was $30 for both. That changes my opinion quite a bit. I don't think they showed enough content to justify that much money. Maybe a follow-up game for the same price would have been better after all, especially when it would be easier to get it on sale that way.
