You might be right. I'm sure since people around the net are complaining we'll get some clarification soon. I would definitely buy it if I could for sure play Sunshine and Galaxy on my switch lite.

If you watch the reveal trailer, it presents all three games as if they're being played in handheld mode. I just think they would have been more specific if Galaxy couldn't be played at all in handheld. Maybe they would have put the asterisk at the beginning of that game's description, for instance, instead of after Co-Star Mode.

Maybe Galaxy 2 wasn't included because they were having a more difficult time removing motion controls from the game? I've not really played either Galaxy game (except for a very small bit of G2) so I don't know if there are any differences in motion controls between the two games or not.

Sorry I must ha e misunderstood the conversation. It sounded like you had to use detached joy cons only for the collection.
I thought it wasn't like the few games that e not compatible with a pro controller

Yah I did Best Buy.

Don't really see the need for a full remake of Mario 64. It'll still be the same game, which really is only so good. Fresh coat of paint would be cool but the nostalgia is like 75% the reason I ever return to that game so I'm fine with a port. Happy to get that + Sunshine (with what would need to be updated controls, yah?) and Galaxy on the Switch.

Also REAL pumped for Super Mario Bros 35. I could see that being extremely fun and getting real intense.

Yeah as much as it would be cool to see a remake of M64 I dont think it would really make the game much better and it could potentially take away from the original's charm.

We have different views of remakes I guess. Sounds like you're talking about what I would consider a reimagining/reboot like with Final Fantasy 7.

For me a remake is basically the same game with improved graphics, added content, etc.

I consider a remake to be where they actually remake the game from the ground up (like the new Spyro and Crash Bandicoot trilogy) to where a remaster is where they take the original game and up the resolution and maybe add few other QoL improvements.

The new FF7 is actually called Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

REmake has been used to refer to the newer RE1 that was released on Nintendo GameCube

Just examples of remakes being used.

Mario 64 DS was re-released "touched up". It was no where near close to a remake. People shouldn't use that term for games that are re-released using essentially the same engine and same graphics.

Maybe people shouldn't use remake at all because it's too generic and could be argued as applying to remasters, reboots, reimaginings, etc.

A remake is when they legitimately "remake" a game... a remaster is when they upgrade graphics, add content, etc etc.

The DS Mario 64 was annoying tbh. I dunno what it is about that version but I didn't like it anywhere near as much as the original.

Also Crash Bandicoot is what the developer considered a "remaster plus", I guess they used a lot of the geometry and whatnot from the og games and then just rebuilt the levels from scratch so even those weren't full-on remakes. Still need to play those.

I mean terms like that can be totally subjective. Then people like us with nothing better to do argue on the internet lol. Anyway the reason I kinda feel that way is one of the first games to popularly use that term was Resident Evil. Which was dubbed REmake (Resident Evil Make). That that was a complete engine overhaul with shiny new gen graphics.

100% agree. I don't know what it was either but I had a very difficult time playing that version of the game and the extra stars made no sense with how to collect. That game made me way too frustrated but I can still play the original M64 (not on the N64's hardware though) and still enjoy it.

It was cool to have portable mario 64. But I agree also. I really never liked starting as Yoshi. So I'm more than happy to play this version. I had some credit from a return on Amazon so I bought Captain Toad and pre-ordered Pikmin 3. So I better get to that backlog that's been building. I took a break from switch for a month and it's time to get back in again.

Did anybody else watch the GameXplain videos where they compared the graphics for SM64 and Sunshine to the originals? In those videos, they actually appear to look quite a bit better in the Switch versions. However, I feel like the HDMI adapter they're using to show the original SM64/Sunshine graphics is making them look worse. I think they would look a lot better on a CRT using s-video (or component for Sunshine, if it's one of the games that supported it, can't remember), so maybe the difference isn't as drastic as their video suggests. Thoughts?

I really want to know more about the controls for SM64 and Sunshine. SM64 used the c-buttons to move the camera around, but it could be super awkward at times. I can only assume the Switch version will just use the right analog stick for that. If they make it like modern games where you have full control to look all around you with the right analog stick, that would be a huge improvement for the game, and makes me way more interested in this collection. Sunshine could also see some improvements. The right analog stick on the Switch should be much better than the c-stick nub on the GC controller. Also, didn't that game force you to use inverted controls? If they allow you to change that on the Switch version, that would be great. One of my biggest issues with Sunshine was the controls, maybe I can actually enjoy this version. Then there's Galaxy. I really don't understand why we can't just use the right analog stick to control the star thing, and then map motion-activated things to a button. That would be so much better than what they're doing. I'd prefer playing it in Handheld mode, but using the touch screen sounds super awkward.

Probably because you didn't have an analog stick on the DS? Using a D-Pad to play a 3D Platformer was terrible.

SM64 needs an improved camera. I couldn't care less about the graphics. The camera is atrocious. I understand that it was revolutionary for it's time, and it helped pave the way for all 3D platformers, but in 2020, SM64's camera is a mess.

I mentioned this in my post earlier. It will be great if the right analog stick just gives us full control of the camera, like modern games.

I think the picture is more accurate. In all of the numerous comment sections on various sites I've read through about this game, it's mostly people losing their minds over it, with just occasional people criticizing it.

I'm glad to see there's such a similar comparison that shows just how lazy Nintendo was with this one. I love Nintendo, but sometimes they really suck.

I don't frequent social media, and rarely look at YouTube comments. I haven't seen many posts here that don't have a negative comment. From camera, to graphics, to controls, to games included (my biggest gripe losing Galaxy 2), to speculation of potential complaints. lol I've seen complaints on other sites about removing glitches. Funny how the updated graphics did not make the Spyro games worth playing.

Galaxy will be basically unplayable for me since I own a Lite, but I will be buying anyway for the first two games alone. I'm not traditionally a Nintendo fanboy, but this works out for me because now I get to enjoy these properly for the first time on the Switch. And I get to play them without having to use Nintendo's zany controller designs of the past. (barring Galaxy, unfortunately, which now requires joycons instead of Wiimote/nunchuk) I will even have 10.0 button remapping if I decide to use it. (I used the hell out of that feature when playing the Spyro collection and Yooka Laylee, but it still wasn't enough to save them)
Also, I'm glad to see Mario 64 ported to the Switch as an ownable game as opposed to requiring an online subscription to play.

I think Nintendo knows they have a significant fan base that has a deep affinity to the Mario games and that most people are going to be happy playing the games with a bump in resolution. Would a remake of SM64 in the style of 3D world be great? Probably

How often does Nintendo release collections though? The typical Nintendo move would be to offer Sunshine and Galaxy for like $40 each. This also gives hope of a Zelda collection coming sometime in the future, all though what games would be included could be a bit interesting. Maybe OoT, MM, and TP? I don't see them offering any more than 3 games at a time since every one of their major collections they've done (Mario All-Stars, Metroid Prime, and now 3D All-Stars) have all only included 3 games.

Complete the 6 missions on the mynintendo website. Remember when you could get cool physical items from there? Well apparently there's a promotion and when you do the 6 missions, you get the pin set. I did 4 this morning, then you have to play Mario Kart World Tour event on your phone which starts in a couple of days, and you have to buy Super Mario All stars. You can pre order digitally and complete the mission, but I like physical copies so i pre ordered on amazon and il just register the cart through the switch which also apparent works.

Mario All-Stars on SNES was 4 games, unless you count SMB and Lost Levels as the same game. And even if you do, the re-release with World makes it officially 4 (or 5) games though.
Zelda Collector's Edition for GameCube has 4 games
Kirby's Dream Collection on Wii had six games.
The Game & Watch Gallery series had between 4 (in Vol. 1) and 20 games (in Vol. 4)... although I'll grant that these don't count as "major" collections. but Mario, Zelda and arguably Kirby sure do.
KCPenguins
Gold Good Trader
* 5-Sep(#66)
Some more not mentioned:

Donkey Kong Classics had 2 games with 2 modes each.
Kirby Super Star
Mario All Stars + World
Tetris / Dr Mario
Zelda Master Quest had OoT & DD Master Quest
Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii
Mario All Stars Wii

Most classic collections stopped at Wii due to VC. It makes sense to fire them back up in a limited sense if they don't expand their "Online" series beyond SNES.

I have it pre-ordered, so I don't care how long they produce it. I mean it'll stink if someone decides they want it after that point, or somehow only hear about it when it's too late, but whatev.

It could be a situation too where they're pulling this collection but then making each game available individually for download.

I'm paying $60 mainly because I've never 100% completed any of the 3 games. With Sunshine and Galaxy never even reaching the end, period. So #1) it will be nice to legit own these portable physical editions but #2) actually beat these games for the first time. So I have legit reasons to be excited.

That one's not really a compilation of prior releases... it's more like an enhanced version of the first game plus several new games and minigames. It's more like a Wii Sports or Wii Play type game

I think it will sell enough that used copies won't be too expensive once April rolls around. And it seems that I'm the only person in here getting it because I actually need to play those games, lol. That's why I'm fine with them basically just being straight ports. It's also the only way I can play Sunshine, since I no longer have a GC or backwards compatible Wii.

I'm thinking of buying this.

But there is a complete version for PS4. You think there will be a complete version for Switch soon? Not only does this game look fun, I want to added it to my switch SIM collection.

It was just released on Switch in June according to the Amazon page. I doubt it will get a "complete edition" at least in physical form. It's far too niche a game.

hmm, you might be right. But a complete edition just came out for PS4 and Xbox One. So it's not like the developer isn't already releasing physical versions for all consoles. Maybe they just need more time for the Switch Complete?

But I'll keep watching it. And get the complete edition on xbox one if I have to. The thing is, the switch is now getting the Jurassic Evolution complete edition this fall. So I'm not giving up hope!

Is the complete edition on the disc, or did they do a Capcom and give the base game plus a code?

For xbox one? I mean with all other xbox one games you have to pretty much install the entire game. most of the time I'm "downloading" the game from the net. There are only a few games when I've looked a the download data where it seems the game was actually being installed from the disc. (Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath Kollection is one I remember).

Which is one of the reasons why I buy more switch games than anything else. So if you're looking for that PS2 era "everything's on the disc". Stick with switch. of course most 1st party stuff is like that but you do have to look for download codes in a box for sure. But there are still way more switch games that simply just run off the cart.

Just beefed up my Switch wanted list with some new box shots. Sure is nice to purty it up a bit. What with Nintendo's new announcements and some recent LRG games.

well I finally bit the bullet and bought Civ 6 since it's on sale again. Since I'm getting into board games I might have more interest in this slow paced kind of animated board game.

I read that it will still be available to download if you have already purchased it digitally. You will not be able to purchase it virtually after March 2021.
