I played through Age of Calamity in its entirety, but still haven't finished the story mode in the first game. (And I have owned all three versions.) The game play is just better in AoC, due to the runes and stuff. Hyrule Warriors: DE has a TON of content, but playing through those adventure maps will get old really fast.

I may not bother with it then. I'll probably have gotten my fill by the time I reach the end of this one, so more of similar but not as good gameplay probably won't be very fun.

It gets extremely repetitive, but that's how all Musou games are. I like AoC because it didn't overstay its welcome, and they don't appear to be going overboard with the DLC this time.

Speaking of Zelda, I just read GameInformer's recent article ranking the series:

https://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/20...

BotW is my favorite, but kudos to them for not putting it at the top just because.

I just bought this version last month for Xbox One (was on sale for $25), and it's a pretty amazing package. Lots of content, lots of hours, great game. I highly recommend if the performance is good. On the Series X it plays with high FPS and basically zero load times, so on the Switch I can see some compromises but still something to really look forward to.

As usual, the 3D Zelda titles are overrated and the 2D Zelda titles excluding ALttP are underrated frown

ALttP is definitely in my top 3, along with ALBW and LA. It's hard for me to rank them, each has its pros and cons compared to the others.

Five of the top six are 3D, so I can see what you mean. It's tough to rank the Zelda games, though. It used to be that the latest Zelda I played was always my favorite (at the time I played it, regardless of how I'd rank them now) up until Phantom Hourglass broke that streak.

Edit: Actually, I guess it was just the console games (not handheld) that made me feel that way after playing it. So I guess it was Skyward Sword that broke the "streak" then, since I don't remember ever considering the Oracle games to be my favorite.

I feel like the 3D Zelda games were all amazing for their time, except maybe Skyward Sword, but they haven't aged well. The last several times I've tried to go back and re-play any of them I eventually get bored and give up. Most of the 2D Zelda games, however, are still great to this day, no matter how many times I play them.

Yeah, I got bored halfway through both Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD. I put over 200 hours into my 2nd play through of BotW, though. Purchasing the DLC, which I skipped the first time, helped with that.

I still want to do a 2nd playthrough of BotW. Hopefully I'll get to that before the sequel drops. Really, I've been trying to re-play all of the Zelda games for a long time now. I recently finished doing all of the 2D Zelda games in order. I'd like to do the 3D games now and force myself to finish them. That means waiting longer to play SS:HD though. Plus I'm not sure I could finish all of that before BotW.

I really hope Nintendo listened to the community. If they could keep most of the innovations that BotW brought, but bring back some of the classic Zelda stuff like traditional dungeons and more story, it could turn out to be something truly special. But, based on the teaser trailer, I'm not too optimistic that they're doing that.

I'm playing through Age of Calamity now and just got to Chapter 4 last night. It's my first Musou game, and I'm having fun so far. There's more depth to it than I expected, and the characters have unique abilities and styles. I like the light RPG elements.

I like Age of Calamity. Impa is my favorite to play as by far.

In the original Hyrule Warriors, I played as Lana a lot. Being able to spam attacks that just destroy waves of enemies is great fun.

Favoritr Zelda used to be Four Swords Adventure until Triforce Heroes came out. Triforce Heroes was bad enough to retroactively poison Four Swords, so when BOTW came out it became ny new favorite, despite overly fragile weapons.

Everyone has their own opinions. I know how much you love LA, but that one is way down my list. Honestly, I put Zelda 2 higher than LA (I LOVE Zelda 2). OoT is still #1 to me, but I can certainly understand anybody picking BotW as #1. It really was a special game. Lttp was incredible for its time. I love ALBW, so I wish that was ranked a bit higher. And I think MM is vastly overrated. #4 is a joke. I put MM as my lowest 3D Zelda below Skyward Sword, and it's not even close.

BotW is probably 4th on my list after OoT, WW, and TP. The old ones are ok, but I think that's more nostalgia because they really weren't that fun except LttP.

It's definitely subjective to the max

I find the whole shrinking gimmick in Minish Cap to be super satisfying for some reason, and I just love the way that game looks when you're tiny and the regular game world is huge.

Really wish they'd make a direct follow up to that one big time.

By the time I finished the LA remake, I had come to really like the graphic style, and at the time, I really hoped they would remake the Oracle games in the same style. But since then, I've kinda changed my mind on it. I feel like that style was fine for the type of game LA is, but wouldn't work as well for the Oracle games. But, at the end of the day, I'll just be happy if they remake the Oracle games, no matter what style they use!

I used to hold this one in higher regard, my only criticism of it was how few dungeons it has. But after finally replaying it recently, I don't like it quite as much. I'm not really sure what it was, it just didn't live up to how I remembered it. Still pretty good though.

Yeah for sure, I understand everyone has their opinions. I just feel like overall, most Zelda rankings, both from sites like this or from individuals, tend to heavily favor the 3D titles.

I do like Zelda 2 a lot, I just prefer the more traditional Zelda style. Definitely agree about MM, that game is so overrated.

This is why I've been hesitant to preorder $60 Switch games recently. Mario Golf and the Subnautica double pack were the most recent I preordered online, only to see them $10 off a few days later. I expected to see it happen with Ys IX, but that one is still full priced.

I had SS HD in my Amazon cart, since I have enough gift card balance to cover it, but I'm thinking about getting Cris Tales instead. Also hoping Silver Case physical gets a discount soon.

@Scott, that door you smash with a pot is part of the golden leaves quest. So it might be the same one you're saying was obscure. (Unless there was an even more obscure one I'm forgetting.)

Edit: Yeah, looks like the pot door was the most obscure one:

Love how they made it so obvious what to do in the remake lol.

Speaking of Zelda, I went ahead and bought SS HD off Amazon for $50. I will have it in tomorrow. Still planning to get Cris Tales soon too. According to the trending section on my Switch, 13 friends have recently started SS. Easy to see why Nintendo keeps re-releasing games when they sell so well. I'm mostly just wanting to try it in handheld mode, without the motion controls, and find all the heart pieces and stuff that I missed the first time.

I was thinking of another door you have to open with a pot, in one of the dungeons. The gold leaf I thought was obscure is where you have to bomb that statue on the side of the wall and it comes to life, then you kill it and get a leaf. Looks like in the remake, the put some cracks on it to help signify you could bomb it. It wasn't like that in the original. That was the hardest one for me to find.

Nice! I only played for a couple hours last night. I think I've found like 7 Metroids so far? Last upgrade I got was the Lightning Suit. I didn't like the style of graphics they went with for this game, but it grew on me very quickly. I still think Samus looks a bit wonky, but the environments look great. The soundtrack is really good too. There's a lot more variety in how you fight different enemies, which is very much welcomed. The game definitely makes it easier to find secrets, but I'm ok with that. I don't get much joy from bombing every single wall/floor/ceiling looking for secret passages.

The eShop listing for WarioWare: Get It Together! says it has online play. That's a game changer, because they didn't mention that during the game's reveal at E3, so I had immediately written it off and wasn't interested in it and figured I'd just get the new Mario Party instead. Now I might get both.

3DS had a new system update yesterday and data miners have found this in the code. It's only a matter of time...

Still plenty of people playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Mario Kart 7 online. I don't know how many other games have people still playing regularly, I only tested those two.

Ended up snagging Children of Morta on sale this week - under $9 seemed like a good price

Children of Morta is the only rogue game I really loved so far that I've played. Such a good little dungeon crawler.

Reminder that Blaster Master Zero 3 drops tomorrow. It's $12 until midnight, I think, and $15 after that. Not sure why it's $5 more than the other two. Looking forward to it regardless.

Not Switch related, but Nintendo is killing off their mobile game Dr. Mario World on November 1.

What are the chances we get a Dr. Mario 99 in its place?

I still need to play BMZ2. I bought it on sale but just haven't gotten around to it yet. I wasn't super impressed by BMZ1, but it was enjoyable enough.

Don't know when, but the SNES/NES Online updated. I have no idea what to do in Bombuzal, but the other two seem decent having never heard of them before. Mario 3 World 8 SE is kind of nice too.

I'm near the end of Origami King, don't honestly like it but I've made it to the end so I'll finish it.

Nice, I still need to play that. Will probably start it after I finish Hyrule Warriors. My son got it for his birthday but it didn't hook him as much as I thought it would. He seemed to have trouble unlocking new levels. I tried to help him look up how to unlock some of them. With my limited knowledge of how the game worked, it seemed like the requirements were sort of strange/obscure, but if I played the game it would probably make more sense. Anyway, Minecraft is probably the most to blame. He switched to that game after Pokemon Snap and has been pretty obsessed with it ever since.

I need to get back to New Pokemon Snap. I was really looking forward to it, bought it on release date and only played it once.
