Welcome to The GameTZ Game Club! This is my attempt at forming an easy to get into book club type thing, but with games! Anybody and everybody is welcome to join in on the fun!
- Each month a random game will be chosen, by myself, for the club to play. Games can vary from the beginning of gaming onward to current generation platforms. There's no limitations!
- You have from the 1st of every month to 11:59PM EST of the final day to complete the designated game. 100% completion isn't required. The point of the club is to provoke game discussion, as well as give GameTZ veterans and new users a place to mingle!]
- For every game completed, post a picture as proof of your completion Example. This is essential in order to receive your badge and entry to the monthly raffle.
- You will be awarded with a badge each month you complete the game. All badges will be proudly displayed next to your name in the original post. As long as you "roll credits" the game is considered beaten!
- Some months will feature prizes! Every user to complete the game each month will be thrown into a drawing to win prizes! Users will be assigned a number and users will be randomly generated at some point the following month.
- Each month's prizes will vary. Prizes will be given out by either me or another member. Sometimes physical, sometimes digital. If you would like to contribute, drop me a message.
- If you don't own the game, and you have access to it on another platform, you're welcome to play it that way. Just make sure that it's the same version, to qualify for the prize or badge.
- If you do not want to participate in the games, but would like to join in on the conversations, please do!
- If you would like to join, just post here, and I'll add you to the list of users. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or criticism, please don't hesitate to post them!

This club has definitely gotten me to beat things I wouldn't have otherwise too. I don't think I probably would have played Super Mario RPG if not for this club, but I enjoyed it. The only game that I felt like I really forced myself to beat was the original Doom. It just wasn't much fun searching everywhere for keys.
> While I wasn't a huge fan of either Tacoma or UGG, I do appreciate them getting picked

> It helped that they were short and UGG did grow on me a little.
So I was able to pick up a copy of Trover for myself at Walmart for cheap and figured since this thread's been good to me, I bought another copy to give away.
Spoke with @Frank and he wasn't planning a give away for beating this months game, so I'm doing one. This won't be tied to beating any game, all you need to do is say 'Rick & Morty' in a post on here between now and the end of the month. Some already said they own the game, so it would be cool if those folks didn't post, but whatever.
The copy I have is a brand new PS4 copy and once all the 'entries' are in, on Aug 1st/2nd Frank will raffle it off and I'll send you the game early the next week, that way hopefully more folks can play it next month - so long as you have a PS4 to play it on. Mine is arriving tomorrow from a trade/purchase on here and I'm excited to try Trover, TLoU2 that I won from here 2 months ago and a few others I've already picked up.
Tonight, I shot a zillion tiny bullets into a variety of large vagina-like monsters.
image I had a harder time with Second Run. I'm not sure if my playstyle is just less suited to Claire, or if Second Run is intentionally tougher. This is still an incredible game that had me impressed from beginning to end, and I never would have played it - or any Resident Evil game, for that matter - if not for Frank's thread.
> Tacoma was neat once I figured out the mechanics. Cool interactive sci-fi short story.
I just started playing last night. It took me a minute to figure out what those icons represented during the audio playback. I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I'll finish it off tonight. I'm taking my sweet time with it, exploring everything. I like the little details they included. The voice acting is really good too.
I'm trying to get through Adventure Island... It's not horrible, but is strange, having to hold down the attack button to run. I'm playing via Retroarch on my PC and using an X1 controller and I'm getting through it. I just beat the 5th stage, so only 12 levels left? Hopefully I can knock them out. This month got away from me, as I had wanted to finish off Outer Worlds instead, but it was already like the 20th when I started to think about that and I am only on the 2nd planet. Oh well, at least I should be able to get a badge.
Reminder, we're doing a small giveaway on this thread right now, if you post 'Rick & Morty' you'll get entered in to win a brand new PS4 copy of next month's game, Trover Saves the Universe. Enter before the end of July.
@Feeb yeah, I finally got the rocks (they look more like 2 red fireballs to me) to throw instead of the axes and those take out everything except for the bonfires. So they're pretty sweet. I'm on 6-1 and the 5th stage was a challenge. One section was really difficult if you were on the skateboard like I was.
Saw this thread, fired up Mario Land this morning and beat it in about 40 minutes. I forgot how short this game is! Still good though. A bit weird that the star music is the can can instead of the traditional star theme,
I don't need a badge or a raffle entry, so I didn't take a picture,
I'm proud of you guys for going back. I totally intended to play Outer Worlds, but didn't even bother installing it. I'll get to it eventually. There will be more makeup months on some of the shorter games.
Good grief Adventure Island ramps up the challenge in Worlds 7 and 8. I would have torn my hair out as a kid trying to beat some of those sections without save states. I'm in the home stretch though, but have only just started 8-1. After a few deaths I gave up for the evening. I really need to not forget to beat it tomorrow...
Adventure Island beat - Level 8-3 was no joke at the end. I was using save states and had one set at the beginning of that final set of platforms, but I had the rocks and after maybe 35+ tries I just couldn't get that final bat. So I started looking into it and apparently the rocks generally just won't hit the bat and then I was like crap how do I get the ax. Thankfully I had a few lives left and was able to die and you get the ax after the 4th checkpoint. So a few attempts later with the ax and amazing I got it. I actually read that the final fire is a hidden thing, so the first time I got hit by it, but it pushed me backwards into the abyss. So the very next attempt (thankfully) I made it over the fire and touched it from the right side earning the hidden pot. Level 8-4 wasn't easy, but it wasn't as challenging as the first 3 levels in Area 8. I found a hidden egg with the rocks at the very beginning, which made things easier. I also had remapped my X1 controller to make the RB the toss weapon, so that gave me more flexibility with hitting it without having to hit the jump and roll my thumb, sort of wish I would have done that sooner.
Well that was the most challenging badge I think I've earned for this GotM Club, glad I NEVER have to play that again - worst part for me was the momentum with Mr. Higgins, just didn't like that mechanic, though with RB for weapon/run that was better for the section 8-3.4 and the final level...
Looking for a final call on the Trover game giveaway. Was set to end tonight, up to @Frank if he wants to extend a little further. See above posts for details. Specifically post #307 from July 26th, on 8th page if you have to go back.
I love me some Rick and Morty but I'm actually surprised to find the amount of the word fudge is wearing on me. and I'm not usually one to care about stuff like that. But still it's fun and has some good game mechanics. I am in Tech World now, I think I got roughly 3 stages left. I'm gonna try and finish it up tomorrow.
You all enjoy, I'll be back at the end of month to see what the September game is.
I tend to avoid M-rated games in general nowadays, anyway, but the ESRB details for Trover makes it sound like the poster child for why I started doing that.
The game contains several instances of mature/crude humor: a character throwing his own feces at the camera; a character spitting onto the screen; several jokes about AIDS; dialogue that references sexuality (e.g., "What can he do besides solicit oral sex to naïve tourists?"; "I'm gonna be*t off thinking about you guys"; "I used to go hiking and I would put things in the woods up my b*tthole."). One character mentions being "high on allergy meds," and another briefly references ayahuasca. The words "f**k" and "sh*t" appear in the dialogue.
Aids and gay jokes. Woo. Are we having a good time yet?
Finished today. What a neat way to play through the credits. I'll put my pic in spoiler because it may or may not spoil the ending, given the setting. There seems to be free DLC I may jump into that later.
I started Trover today. The characters all talk so much, I have no idea when I can actually start doing stuff again. I listened to Trover drone on repetitively for five minutes before I realized there was a button I could activate.
I keep my PSVR connected with the exception of the headset using a stand (https://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&lo...). Everything is in a cabinet, and there isn't enough space to use the headset hanger. I just pull out the camera and place it on top of the TV and plug the 2 cable ends of the headset in and I'm good to go.
