Welcome to The GameTZ Game Club! This is my attempt at forming an easy to get into book club type thing, but with games! Anybody, and everybody, is welcome to join in on the fun!

Rules:

- Each month a random game will be chosen, by myself, for the club to play. Games can vary from the beginning of gaming onward to current generation platforms. There's no limitations!

- You have from the 1st of every month to 11:59PM EST of the final day to complete the designated game. 100% completion isn't required. The point of the club is to provoke game discussion, as well as give GameTZ veterans and new users a place to mingle!]

- For every game completed, post a picture as proof of your completion Example. This is essential in order to receive your badge and entry to the monthly raffle.

- You will be awarded with a badge each month you complete the game. All badges will be proudly displayed next to your name in the original post. As long as you "roll credits" the game is considered beaten!

- Some months will feature prizes! Every user to complete the game of the month will be thrown into a drawing to win prizes! Users will be assigned a number and users will be randomly generated at some point the following month.

- Prizes will vary. Prizes will beon a donation basis by either me or another member. Sometimes physical, sometimes digital. If you would like to contribute, drop me a message. smile

- If you don't own the game, and you have access to it on another platform, you're welcome to play it that way. Just make sure that it's the same version, to qualify for the prize or badge.

- If you do not want to participate in the games, but would like to join in on the conversations, please do!

- If you would like to join, just post here, and I'll add you to the list of users. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or criticism, please don't hesitate to post them!

I actually found it a bit underwhelming. Not quite as underwhelming as I felt with BOTW's final boss but still. I guess with big open world games I tend to over prepare for the final battle laughing out loud

I was kind of screwed at the end. I did not have enough health items. I was trying to finish up while my house was very loud and in chaos and so I didn't have many ways to heal. Made it more exciting! lol

Being low on health items was part of my headache facing my only StormBird so far. It was for a side mission and I was a little careless on my way through the mission such that I had consumed most of my health pouch's contents. For whatever reason I don't end up using the potions and stick with the herbs.
In the heat of battle I forget to cycle through that interface and sometimes even forget that herbs is up, not down. I tried to use that 'over health' potion the one time but didn't like how it started to drain right away. The birds in HZD are far and away the worst enemies as they rarely stop moving, your camera ends up in the weeds when aiming at them, hitting them with projectiles can be tough (especially bombs) and the SB has too much health. My first fight against the Deathbringer had me thinking this is going to suck, but I've taken down both I faced without a ton of challenge and prefer fighting them over SBs.

See I always made sure to have health potions, full health potions, and herbs aplenty. I actually also used the temporary health potions this playthrough. I don't believe I ever used them years back on Playstation

@Frank Just an FYI, looks like you gave me the HZD badge already. I'm still working towards that but have a handful of story missions remaining. With Tetris Effect out of the way and less interesting in beating Shantae for the Retro GotM, it is more/less my #1 priority, so you could just leave it be, and I will still ping you with proof and a huge sigh of relief once I complete it. Game is still a stunner and I'm not tired of it, just looking forward to crossing that finish line.

Same here. My inventory is almost always full and now when I kill an enemy or machine I don't even bother searching them to see what they were carrying on them.

I'm now Level 46, 58% complete. I never intended to go for 100% but I recently bought the item that lets me fast travel an unlimited number of times, so I'm using that to get where I need to go. So far I'm not digging the hunting grounds missions though and they might be what stops me from fully completing it.

I played through it on Expert this afternoon in a sitting. It only took me a little over an hour, but man I must be rusty. I was clearing with mostly Cs, and a few Bs. To be fair, the most Tetris I've played as of late is whenever Tetris 99 has a new theme raspberry

Sounds like a Metroid title, unless Frank goes for the real dark horse and picked Kirby & The Amazing Mirror.

So @Frank is looking to pick up a copy of Metroid Other M - that released in Aug of 2010, so it should fail the prior to 2010 release question.
However it makes me wonder. I was thinking it might be a Prime series title, but Other M is not in that story-line. It is set between Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion.

I posted that, saw that you answered 9, so tried really quick to remove that guess, sorry.
Also I thought guesses didn't count against the 20? But now that we know it's not handheld, then we know it's possibly Super Metroid (based on Frank seeking a copy of Other M). And it's pretty unlikely that it's in the Prime series based on Q:8 answer being no, not FPS.

It's been an incredibly long time since I've played a Metroid game. The last one I played was the first Prime, and I don't believe I finished it. I can't remember much of the NES and SNES games and I've never played the handheld ones.

Since the game has a sleep function that doesn't jive with flash carts, I looked online to see if I could pick up a real Zero Mission cart so I could bring it to work and still be able to shut it down between play sessions, if I'm not near a save point.

Holy crap, I know prices are high right now, but why the fudge does every old cart cost $80-100 now?

If you own a Wii U, you could always go that route. Just play it in handheld mode. I believe that version also has Save States, but not sure. I've never purchased a GBA VC game on my Wii U. wry smile

Save States is an option, too, but they were flaky with my old flash cart. I've upgraded since then, but I'm not sure if the new version of the cart adds any stability on that front.

It does have a global Sleep function, though, so I'll just go with that for now.

I'm still chugging through HZD, I've made it to Sun Fall so I don't have a ton of main missions left, but I've been focused on many of the side missions and collecting stuff instead. I think I've only got a handful or so of the flowers left and I took down the jackass leader of the Lodge, or rather enjoyed watching him perish. This game is still awesome, so a bit of me is extending it because I am enjoying myself. I took out 3 Thunderjaws recently and a Stormbird, all without eating it, so I'm better at fighting overall. I guess I need to push/focus a little more on the main story so I can get it wrapped up in the next dozen days or so. Easily my favorite pick from @Frank thus far. Possibly my favorite title from the PS4/X1 era, at least in the adventure/epic genre that it resides.

I apparently can't stop doing the side stuff in HZD. Just played for a few hrs and did zero main missions, but got down to just 2 flowers left, 3 view points and 1 Banuk thing. Also got 2 of the power cells I missed, getting back into Mother's Heart was annoying. And did another side quest, found another I'm about to start and cleared 2 more corrupted zones, leaving just 3.
Good news is I'm up to 81% cleared, but am over 60 hrs played. But if it wasn't excellent I wouldn't care as much and tackle all this stuff. Think I'm level 43 also.
I've generally waited a number of years to get the current Sony console, did so with really all, except the PS2. But once Forbidden West drops I may have to break that approach. Certainly others have my interest too, but HZD is so enjoyable that I now want to support those devs, since I got this copy used and cheap recently.

HZD is one of my absolute favorite games of the last generation. I have high expectations for Forbidden West. raspberry

Racked up some more trophies in HZD today. I've reached level 50, found all ancient vessels and earned three blazing suns at one of the hunting grounds. Sitting at 72% completion.

It seems the only side mission that's available is "Into the Frozen Wilds". Safe to assume that is the DLC? I didn't want to start that until everything else has been wrapped up.

@PizzaTheHutt I'll give my my comparison as I'm 11% higher completion vs. you.
I'm at level 44, am in the midst of the awesomely funny Acquired Taste side mission.
I've got 1 Banuk, 1 Metal Flower and I think 2 or 3 viewpoints left, I got all vessels.
My next main mission is at SunFall, note that as you are about to start that one, there's 1 side quest outside the 'town' and another as you prep to start it - I've done both.
I haven't done the Frozen Wilds DLC yet.
I have done all bandit camps (and Nil's post action), all Tallnecks, all Cauldrons, visited 4 of 5 hunting grounds but only have 3 'full' blazing suns - all from the first one.
I only have 3 corrupted zones left and 1 power cell to get that I know is in an upcoming story mission.
I haven't done too many of the weapon specific quests, but I didn't buy any of them in the base green, nor several in the mid blue versions, instead waited/saved up for the purple versions.
I do have all but 2 of the carry capacity upgrades after hunting for animal skins and bones.

I guess I haven't unlocked the Acquired Taste mission yet. It doesn't show in the list of side missions I've completed.

Using the filter on the map, I have 7 metal flowers, 3 banuk figures and 2 vantages left. I'll start tracking all of those down once I finish the hunting stuff I guess. I don't know how many Cauldrons there are in total, but I've only done 2.

The collectable page will show you the flowers and other collectables pretty easy, instead of the map.
There are 4 Cauldrons, each one grants you the ability to override a few machines. The first was the best since it grants ability to ride the horse, I forget if it also lets you override the 2 other rideable beasts. There is some variety in them, like the one with bandits.
Yeah side missions with the green ! only appear if you get near them on the map, so you have to explore all of the settlements more/less to get them all.

I'd think you would remember that Taste mission as the quest giver is amusing and there's several steps to it.

So I did the SunFall mission last night and really enjoyed it b/c it had lots of story to share, was a little surprised at the story that unfolded there. The mission took a good while to complete because of all of the audio and text to listen to/read. Then I grabbed my final Metal Flower and 1 View Point, down to just 2 Views and 1 Banuk thing yet to find. I also visited the final Hunting Grounds, but didn't do any trials.

I really appreciate all of the story that's unfolding, respect the devs for the commitment to fill in a lot of the backstory in that mission, certainly interested to see the rest unfold in my final 4 story missions.

How long is Tetris Effect? I'm pretty close to accepting that I'm probably not getting that badge. And I suck at Tetris, so I'd probably only play it on easy anyway.

I played through expert in a sitting, if that helps at all. I think it's only 1-3 hours depending on how fast you are.

Agree with Frank, it didn't take me overtly long to get through TF, 2-3 hrs I'd guess. I had played a few levels in the past of the journey mode or whatever Frank is using as the benchmark and didn't replay them. I'm not a pro at Tetris either but could get through it. It ramps up and down in pace and insanity at times though, so be warned.

Well, I was worried it might happen at some point, and it finally did. The "Sleight Of Crate Trial" is just simply not fun and at times just downright feels unfair. These are supposed to be stealth trials, but I'm finding it impossible to use stealth on this one.

Took a few times but once you figure out the idea / enemy placement you can pull it off in time.

I finally was able to pass it with only two seconds to spare. After that last post I put the controller down for nearly an hour and came back and did it within the next three attempts. I checked on Google to find tips and through various threads on Reddit, GameFAQs and the Steam Community forums, pretty much everyone who had beaten it said they just got lucky, so I didn't have high hopes that I'd be able to clear it. I had to sell some junk because a few times my inventory was so full I wasn't able to loot the crates. And I stopped caring about using stealth at all in this trial, I don't see how it's doable otherwise.

I've had my inventory of resources more or less full the entire time. I've keep at least one it seems of every foe's lenses and hearts. Then I've got like 5x full sets of all the stuff used to craft things - chill water, wire, ridge wood, etc. I end up selling a full set every so often, after crafting all of the ammo I can. I don't know why I hoard all of this crap, the blaze is the most useful as I use flame arrows and bombs a lot.
Still don't use the herbs nor health potions, only use my medicine pouch, so I do collect those flowers. The inventory could be bigger or having a stash in the towns would be great.

That's how you do it. Persevere. Well done.

Had to look on YT which one was that trial. I remember not having much trouble with that one, but I wasn't trying to go stealthy. You don't have a lot of room to wait either, so I can see why it can get frustrating.

The most difficult for me were the ones in the Frozen Wilds, iirc.

Getting rather close now... to finishing last month's pick. Just completed The Mountain that Fell and wow, what a shocking bit of story told there... I literally said aloud the exact same thing that Aloy said after the 2nd significant holo playback... just stunning. shock

After that mission I took the final power cell to get the 'fancy' armor and I had the final 'blood' to deliver for the Acquired Taste side mission. Snatched another viewpoint too.
So I'm just under 91%, have 2 main missions left, 3 corrupted zones that I think I'll knock out, am level 47 I think, got 1 viewpoint and 1 Banuk to get. So close and the game, especially the story just gets better and better.

I will pass on the Frozen Wilds DLC and won't bother to go after the dozen additional Hunting Grounds rewards. I want to be sure I finish this game before Sunday and suspect the Corrupted zones will take a little time and while I don't expect the final 2 missions to take as long as the most recent 2, since they were more story driven, I don't want to spend forever playing... I'm already about to crest 72 hours spent. It's been time well spent for sure, but I'm ready to close out the story and would like to get into a few other PS4 titles.

Nice @Slickriven. The Frozen Wilds is an excellent side story, but it adds quite a bit of content. It's worth visiting after you beat the game, but totally get wanting to move on.

I only remember the difficulty spiking for combat in frozen wilds... and that awful flooded building quest.

I do intend to play the DLC and was hoping/expecting to after I beat the main campaign. I have heard good things but don't want to get bogged down in a bunch of side content as I don't see me having a boatload of time to play before Sunday and am just ready to close the chapter for now. And for the badge.
