With so many great snes games, I don't know which one(s) to start first. I have only actually played thru a handful of them and it was many years ago.
I remember playing SMW, SofM, FF3, DKC, metroid, and I don't really remember much beyond that.

So what are a some recommendations for a game or two for me to start on.

Don't play anything. All the games are terrible. Just sell it me for cost + shipping instead.

No? Ok, fine. Play Zelda.

I'll treat this as if you haven't played any of them. Go in this order:

Super Mario World
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Donkey Kong Country
Super Metroid
Secret of Mana

There's 5 to get you started, get back to me when you're done!

Ah, I forgot to mention zelda. It's actually my fav zelda game of all time.
Despite belief, I actually had a snes back in the mid 90's, but besides most of the ones I listed, I didn't play the ones in this collection, or at least don't have much memory.
I got so far in Mario world, but I remember not beating it. I'm a huge Metroidvania fan, so I have played SM.
FF3 and secret of mana were great as well.
I never played super punch out(I played og nes one), never played Mario rpg, non of the Kirby games, I love castlevania games, but don't remember if I played this one or not. Same goes for Contra and super ghouls and ghost.

Its a nice selection of games for sure.
And I plan on replaying some of the ones I have played.

Is super Mario rpg any good?
How is this castlevania compared to others in the series?

I played Super Mario RPG for the first time this last Dec-Jan and the game was incredibly fun. There is so much charm and the battle system was easy but just hard enough to make you forget that you've been playing for hours. I loved the graphics, all the little mini games, and all the secrets you could find scattered through the world. It wasn't perfect, but I think I still gave it like a 9.25 or 9.5.

Everything you write about video games from here till the end of time is null and void.

When I get one, I don't know how much I'll play Zelda. I may fly through it once to see how much I remember. But I can't think of another way to challenge myself with it...

If you haven't played it Earthbound. It was a revolutionary RPG and is still great to this day.

I didn't find Earthbound to be all THAT great...and I played it back in 1995, and again more recently. It just pales when compared to Chrono Trigger and FF6.

Not horrible, but IMO it's overrated because of it's value.

I enjoyed the setting and the hunour. It was so different from most RPGs.

Part of the reason I loved parasite Eve.

Agreed, it was a refreshing change of pace. Ever play Mother 3 on GBA (DS? Or whatever it was on?...)

yes

Do you play action games with it? I just have a hard time playing action games that I have played a million times (ie. Mario World) using anything buy an SNES controller.

The problem there is - it's hard to find quality USB or Bluetooth retro controllers that work well...
