I'm gonna predict Anthem will be around for about a year before EA kills Bioware. If it doesn't explode with profits for EA after the annual grace period has passed by their end of the first fiscal quarter in 2020, then it's Order 66 for Bioware.
Oh we haven't seen the last of Dragon Age I'm sure...free to play anyway. Next stop is a Dragon Age Battle Royale game! Can ya feel it, people? Can ya sense it?!?!?!
And shall only get saltier when EA unveils Jade Empire 2 at E3 only to later find out it's a live service online MMO style RPG that has an option to be free to play and will also feature an online battle royale mode with up to 64 enlightened warriors of the way of the thousand fists in each session!
I have been having a lot of fun with anthem. Heck with all the hate train I almost canceled my preorder, but then I realized that im having a crap ton of fun with this game. Games are supposed to be fun. I guess hate is the way to go now tho
The same goes for free to play games like Apex. I'll shat all over that just cause EA is behind that, but I give the utmost respect to Respawn for putting up with their nonsense and making a good game that is appealing to a target audience. I just can't seem to do that with Bioware. Likely cause all of their original key members who were responsible for my beloved KOTOR, Jade Empire and ME games have long since flown the coop and that company has become a shell of it's former self.
Crap. Ah well, there goes my hopes and dreams of Playstation Legacy BC. The PS5 better at least have PS4 BC. I'm running out of space as it is -_-
Sony should open a future one of their shows when they reveal PS5 with 1 line on the bullet point on the smart screen presentation to the audience: "The Sony Playstation 5 will feature Playstation 4 Backwards Compatibility" that's all you need to get people's ears perked up and a strong way to open a show to get people's attention, well, IMO anyway. I know some people aren't that big a fan of BC as much as I am.
> I know some people aren't that big a fan of BC as much as I am.
I like it when it's well done. I basically never have a PS1 or a Wii hooked up because the PS2 and Wii U do a great job.
I wish 360 BC on XBone was universal. I would have already bought an XBone if that were the case. But none of the 360 games I still play regularly are on the list.
Ah Madden, the yearly turd that they barely improve and was really the catalyst that made microtransactions seem like a profitable revenue stream for developers. Fudge Madden.
> If only NFL 2K could come back...
I thought I heard something about the exclusive deal between EA and the NFL expiring soon. So if that's true it could theoretically come back.
I stopped caring about NFL games after the death of ESPN NFL 2K5. That game was my everything.
Yeah wasn't ESPN NFL 2K5 only $20 when it first came out? I think that was what made EA decide to pay buckets of money to the NFL to be exclusive.
But that was Visual Concepts under Sega, now they're just as greedy as EA when it comes to microtransactions i.e. NBA 2K pay money to get a haircut.
Yup. A 20 piece at launch at that. Plus the game was hella fun.
I gave up on NBA 2K in like 2011 I wanna say. The one with Michael Jordan on the cover. All went downhill from there. Too much nonsense monetization to have any real fun with. And since I'm a guy who enjoys some kind of single player mode to force people to fork over the dough for leveling up a player in career mode is kinda like extortion.
2k basketball games used to be real fun. But every year - they dumb it down more and more and just build up "Black Top" and crap like that.
I remember the last 360? 2k basketball game i got - we had 7 people online doing a online dynasty. Where you could do offseason and draft.
Last year game - after the season was over - the players don't age - no contract so you never lost anybody - the schedule is the same. And it was just stupid.
> Micros-transactions killed sports games. That and the most worthless of human beings,
> Ed O'Bannon.
Why won't it let me plus this more than once?
> *buy up ps1-ps3 rpgs*
I've been buying up PS1/2 rpgs mostly. I'm ahead of the curve here LOL.
DMC 5 but I was thinking about cancelling the preorder.
Just preordered Sekiro. That game looks nuts.
Nothing from march for me. I honestly probably won't buy any games until late summer/fall.
Not sure if it's because I recently experienced the Kurosawa movie Ran for the first time or not but the more I look into Sekiro the more pumped I get for it. I love the feudal Japan setting. Game looks like it'll be a good hold-over in that regard until Ghost of Tsushima is released.
Sekiro I is going to be outstanding I am sure but am going to have to prepare my body and soul for. A Dark Souls game without the co-op. I am going to need to use all of my cunning for that one.

I dunno, I'm not getting the impression from reports on the game that it's going to be AS unrelenting as the Dark Souls series. Really hoping that's the case tbh, I'm not huge on the difficulty curve of those games. From what I've read, the sword fighting combat mechanics will totally be strategic but not as difficult as DS.
I hope those reports are true then, because whenever I was in a real bad jam in a Souls game, I would just drop a soap stone sign and wait for some nice Korean fellow to hop in and save my ass haha I like a challenge at times, but some of those boss fights were relentless in the Souls trilogy.
Yah tbh I never played too far into a Souls game at all. I love a challenge but sometimes it just felt cheap in DS to the point that the cheapness felt like it outweighed the satisfaction of when I actually won. I know that's an unpopular opinion for folks who dig the Souls series but whatev haha.
So yah, really hoping it's just a touch more lenient.
Are we the only system swimming in games? Are there tumbleweeds over at Xbone since we have all the exclusives?
the x1 is definitely more sparsely populated. switch has quite a few things coming this year, Fire Emblem being the biggest for me, im not interested in the first party N stuff, maybe the occasional Mario 2d game, though I thought 3d world was pretty fun. but pokemon, animal crossing, first person Metroid games, Zelda/Yoshi/insert character platformer game here,.. so switch gets pretty sparse for me too, but ps4 brings the heat all the time. but not everyone likes the same games. I guess it just depends on what you're into. I love that ps4 has seen a big jrpg resurgence, some come to switch and some don't, and some to pc and some don't, but PS is still the go to for jrpgs. if you are all about shooters and racing games xbox def has a ton of that. N has a lot of first party stuff this year if that's a thing for you, and there are several things coming to switch that have been out for awhile like hellblade.
Honestly I get most 3rd party games now for my XB1X just so I have something to play on it. MS is gearing up for next gen I imagine so they aren't too focused right now for current gen exclusives. First party stuff I usually go for the Switch or PS4, unless it's a big RPG that I can play on the go, like Tales of Vesperia, then I'll opt for the Switch.
Alas, I just hope the rumors are true what I'm hearing and that the next Xbox console will launch with Halo 6: Infinite. That would be the first time that happened since 2001, with Halo: Combat Evolved.
> March is looking like it'll be a pretty good month for games.
> Devil May Cry 5
> Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
> The Caligula Effect
> Left Alive
> The Division 2
> The Sinking City
> Dead or Alive 6
> MLB The Show 19
> What's everyone picking up? I've got DMC 5, Sekiro, and The Caligula Effect preordered.
> Pretty sure I'm going to take the day off work for DMC 5. So hyped!
I have Sekiro pre-orderd. Caligula and Div2 is a wait and see or price drop for me. I've decided this year to only buy a game if I plan on playing it right then. No more back log for me.
I have also adopted this formula of buying a new game after I have beaten another. I used to have stacks of games just collecting dust, waiting to be played. Not anymore. 1 game per system for me before buying a new one. Right now I only have Metro: Exodus, Octopath and I plan on opening Tales of Vesperia on my shelf soon since I'm almost done with Octopath. It's quite the refreshing feeling of being unburdened by a tower of backlogged games. Wish I would have adopted this self-disciplined policy years ago.
If RDR 2 is anything like GTA V it could take years to get to $20, and it was the #1 selling game last year and was only out a little over two months last year. So It's probably not going to be $20 any time soon. Save up some money and buy it it's worth $60 easily but you can get it for $45-$50 used I'm sure.
Did anyone else have issues playing God of War on their Pro? I keep having framerate issues at random times. It definitely doesn't make the game unplayable but it's certainly annoying when it happens.

It was smooth as butter on my Pro, not sure what is happening with yours. Granted I played it months ago so it may be an update patch that made things worse?
I want it! I've heard good things about it but haven't gotten around to buying it.
@BJB I'm pretty sure I saw a Polygon article that said one of the GoW modes (Performance vs Graphics or whatever) ran badly. Might want to check it out.
