Topic   Possible to clone PS3 CFW to new drive?

I have a PS3 that was jailbroken at one point years ago. I eventually upgraded it's HD (with CFW) and at some point after that, accidentally upgraded to the latest OFW, removing the CFW. I didn't really care at the time as I wasn't doing much with the CFW anyway. Recently I found my original HD, with the CFW 3.55 on it. This got me to thinking about tinkering with CFW again.

Is it possible to clone this old CFW drive, to the larger OFW drive that is currently in the PS3? Is there any special method/trick to it? I would expect of course to lose whatever data (game saves, DLC, etc.) that might be on the larger drive (though if it's possible to save that stuff too, it would be cool). I'm just interested in getting my CFW back again.

Bonus points: I actually have 3 PS3s (all jailbreakable models on too-recent OFW) and if possible, I'd love to somehow clone this CFW to all 3 of them. Possible? Or is this drive tied to a specific console unit?

The firmware is stored on the motherboard not the hard drive. You'd need to downgrade the firmware. Otherwise all you'd have to do would be reformat any hard drive and every PS3 would be jailbreakable.

Ah duh, good point. I knew there was something way too simple about my thinking on this. LOL

Thanks!
