He's practically a patron saint of retro modding.

https://www.retrorgb.com/tag/voultar

He modded a Final Fantasy SFC trilogy for me, and I've had no compatibility issues or bugs. Hell, if you plug the cart into a Super Nt or Retrode, it will dump the patched version of the game.

mhmm.

So does anyone have rep at sega16? I signed up three weeks ago still haven't heard back. So if I have someone on the inside perhaps I can actually get IN, so I can ask someone to mod my Sega Nomad screen.

That's actually pretty good, actual honest to god English carts, in the most legitimate way possible, at a price that isn't completely insane, and it replaces those damned coin batteries? Amazing.

I'm def gonna consider that at some point soon. Do you guys think Supaboy would run them? If I can have a legit Jp cart with save battery, fully english patched, then save TO THE CART for games like Mystic Ark, Rudras, ect. That's pretty cool

Start buying the carts? It's not a repro store. All that does is hardmod a chip to legit copies of the game and better batteries. It's no less legit than any of the hardmods for consoles.

SupaBoy randomly deletes cart saves - not these carts specifically, but any carts with SRAM saves - so while the games play fine (I tested with my copy of Final Fantasy V), the fear of losing progress is more than enough for me to keep the carts in my Super Nt.

Rephrasing, until craplords start sending him carts, getting them back, and THEN SELLING THEM AS IF THEY WERE LEGIT GAMES.

Because THAT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE.

Wait, it actually deletes save files? You sure the games tested just didn't have weak/dying batteries. I mean I used that have that happen all the time on my normal SNES.

I don't think it's the battery. One of the carts that had its saves deleted had just had the battery replaced.

Amazon reviews and other forums mention the same thing happening. It could be related to the cartridge slot, since tiny nudges have a tendency to corrupt your game session. The "Reset" button is digital, too, so there's no way to effectively hold it down as you power off.

Well thanks for bringing that up @Renaissance2K I def don't want saves getting erased. My classic analogue is sold out but that's what I'll get at some point when I try that Super Famicom translation service. I think it would be so cool to play Mystic Ark cart with English. But I have FOUR Sega Genesis RPGs to play. I don't want to collect too far otherwise I'll feel overwhelmed.

I'm currently playing the "look up stuff you have in storage and sell it" game. Anyone know of a good place to move classic PC games? I don't want to deal with eBay for these, their fees are getting stupid.

I had mentioned I would be selling off a ton of these here too - I'm sticking to the less valuable, but desirable ones for GTZ. Stuff that's been published at Steam or GOG, so they're not necessarily worthless.

I remember having to struggle with being able to play my NES because local channel 3's signal is so strong it bled into channel 4, until we finally got a TV with RCA inputs.

ya, modern rpgs that have the speed up during battle is great, and older games are helped out a lot by that too. when you are just facing down a pack of random mobs you've fought 320 times before 3x speed for the win if its just a hold x battle.

Did RPGs finally figure this out? I can only deal with games like Dragon Warrior because these battles are nearly instantaneous hold-A battles anyway. Otherwise random encounters make me want to die every time.

3X is a good solution. I'd say any remaster needs an option to disable fight animations after you've seen it once.

I like to see it at least once and then we can completely skip it until I want to see again.

ya some of the modern stuff like persona 5 has a speed up option and these relreleases of the final fantasy games have it. if you're just going to use standard attacks on trash mobs its great.

tales of berseria did a thing where if you are a certain level over the mobs you dont even enter combat it just "kills" them right there on the field screen.

But I still can't get my Atari to come in there... it comes in better on channel 2.

I beat Strikers 1945 tonight. Not my proudest clear, it was on the easiest difficulty (1, aka "Monkey" lol). I tried beating it on 2 a couple times and got close, but couldn't go all the way. It's crazy how much of an increase in difficulty there was just from 1 to 2, when there are 7 difficulty settings. I'm sure I could go further, but I've got other games calling my name and I'm not super into this one. I had fun playing it, but overall I'd say "bullet hell" SHMUPS aren't for me. Not sure if it technically counts as a bullet hell game or not, but it definitely feels like it compared to the SHMUPS I have experience with.

I think Dragon Blaze is closer to bullet hell than the Strikers games, as far as Psikyo is concerned. But yeah, these are basically pick up and play games. They are good for short bursts at a time. I can't imagine sinking a lot of hours into a shmup, unless you become obsessed with beating it on the hardest difficulty with one credit, lol.

Speaking of quality arcade titles, Akai Katana (Xbox 360) is an awesome lil' horizontal shoot 'em up from Cave that's currently hugely undervalued at GameStop; if you don't already have a copy, pick one up there for only five bucks. yes

I liked Akai Katana. But the value being what it is, is most likely due to it being on Xbox 360. No one system fell as hard as 360.

I'm waiting on a CAVE compilation for Nintendo Switch but will accept a digital eShop copy.

It's a great time to buy games for ps3 and 360.

Is it though? Last time I looked, GameStop still hadn't dropped their prices to a noteworthy degree.

it is a great time, just not at gamestop lol.

i dont know we'll ever see "modern era", 7th gen and up really hit a spike like we have the old stuff, blu rays hold up so much better and differently, people know now about keeping the stuff nicer and finding a nice condition copy of some ps3 game will never be as hard as finding a nice ps1 game. most things are produced on a larger scale and 8th gen stuff will never be worth anything, no manuals and such will further reduce the difficulty of finding something "complete" and in nice shape.

Mint ps2 is almost as much of a struggle as ps1.

At least most PS2 cases are universal.

Even though PS1 uses jewel cases, you can tell when it's replaced by a inferior quality generic type, it's just more flimsy all around.

Then we get into the different styles of double cases: single disc double case, double disc double case, triple and quadruple disc, all use different inner inserts.

PS1's black data side is also more noticeable than PS2's DVDs.

ya ps2 maybe the last gen that sees lots of things at high value and lots of hard to find in mint condition items. 360 discs arent blu ray i guess.

its a great time to be picking up 7th gen but if you're doing it hoping for a 10x ROI i dont know id be renting out storage units to stack up ps3 games
