I wish they would do a Vita version. I'd jump on that one.

GAH....I ordered one. Worst case scenario, it sucks, drops in price, and I return this one to rebuy it for less.

Some games just don't translate well when you throw a fresh coat of 3D paint on it. I didn't enjoy the DS remake of FFIV as much as when I played it on PS1 as part of Final Fantasy Chronicles. Turtles in Time Re-Shelled is another example IMO. Metroid: Samus Returns was good, but not great.

Though of course there are great ones too, like Dragon Quest IV / V / VI.

Picked mine up today, super excited. Haven't read anything on it ... hoping it's good.

Didn't realize the prebuy also came with some DLC!

Been playing this a couple hours and I'm enjoying it. Feels like a slightly updated version of the original and that's cool with me. Wasn't feeling the new soundtrack however so I'm playing with the original music

Embarrassingly, I never beat SoM as a kid (I was on the ff3/CT/Earthbound train), so I ended up getting this. It's pretty great if you think of it more of a remaster vs a remake

Reviews aren't amazing, so I could end up just returning my preorder. We'll see.

I never finished the original either, so I might just stick with that.

We called the Nintendo Power Hotline on this one back in the day - I think it was tips on how to beat the second boss.

Can't remember how much it cost - I'm sure it was a 900 number. I do know it was at my buddy's house; we rented it from Hastings that day.

I'm still waiting to finish shadow of the Colossus before moving to this. I need more time!

I wish they had done more with this, the changes look pretty minimal as far as gameplay is concerned. This would have been a perfect opportunity to add in some bonus content (like the stuff cut from the SNES CD version). Even if that stuff is just lost forever, some brand new content would have been nice. Regardless, I'll definitely pick this up if they ever bring it to Switch, just because I love Secret of Mana so much.

Actually, I'm glad they didn't put extra crap in. Their later releases with extras have that content feel half-assed, and it looks like they were doing it as cheaply as possible. Of course, they STILL managed to bork things with this release...

Got this today, traded some GC stuff I had sitting. Can't wait to start but I have World of Final Fantasy I should probably finish first.

So what's the general consensus from everyone? Good game? Most reviews are very favorable really.

I'll probably just stick with the SNES version.

I think it has it's issues, but as someone who never played it on SNES I am ok with that! This was the cheaper way to go about it and improved visuals can't go wrong with that. I am with @dunno001 on this, I am also glad they did not add extra stuff this is the closest I will ever get to playing this game as close to original as possible. I am not going to spend $100 on a Snes and another $80 on the game so this is it raspberry

It's basically the video game version of this:

Finally started, loving it. So many memories coming back. The initial voice acting was odd, but grew on me.

I really hope they bring the 3d remakes Final Fantasy to console as I've always wanted to play them.

My opinion is that this is garbage. Buy a mini SNES for the superior version.

Meh I couldn't ever get into the original. Mainly because I don't really care for grid RPGs.
So it's a nice touch that this has 360 degrees of combat and the graphics (while they could have been better) are much nicer than the snes version.

Grid? The only grid I remember in the original is the action grid to control how aggressive the AI is. I'm blazing through the game just to say I'm done with it. I... really can't say much good about this Secret of Crashes version...

Grid = only being able to move up, down, left, right
