Just started. Not a huge fan of the camera or controls. Everything just feels very... Jumpy.
A bit bummed it's not more Souls-ish, but I'm excited for it. Sorry DMC 5, on the shelf you go!
Anyone else playing?
Just throw fire crackers at the second ape over and over and it's posture bar will break in seconds.
I feel like such a dumb dumb. I did not realize you could spear the headless ape when it falls down from blocking it's overhead swing to break it's posture faster. -_-
Lol I read your message AFTER the first ape fight like a tool. Ah well, live and learn!
Probably Owl Father. regular is easy. can be cheesed real easy too.

His attack where he throws stars and then does a jump attack. Use Whirlwind Slash (it's the first art you get don't remember if that's what it's really called) run away. Rinse, repeat. he has another attack that works with this method as well but I forget it.
I beat the 2 apes with no problem. Was kinda easy actually. Now I hate my life being stuck on Emma and Isshun. 40 tries later and still nothing. I really need to learn to get the timing down for Isshun's moveset. I nailed Emma's but his 2nd form is tricky. I found a strat online where you spam firecrackers and whirlwind slash his 2nd form until he's at half hp then just dodge left when he strikes to get behind him and spank him.
Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a shot in a bit
I watched that entire video on crazy boss tactics and it was wild, it got to Owl 2 Electric Boogaloo and I was like "here we go, my ticket to finally beating him in NG+", and the tactic was basically "don't get it". Man Owl 2 is hard.
You think Owl is hard? Wait till Mist Noble rapes your ass.

That video is how I did it both times. Never had an issue. Owl Father however can't be cheesed like that
I just beat Owl. He was fine when I used Tyranicon'a strat from YouTube. His vids are legit. I gave up on Ashina and Emma. I'll do them on NG+ eventually. That 3rd phase with the fire is morbidly obese for me. But for the first Owl encounter just keep running left to right and dodge his moves and when he tosses 2 shurikens and jumps to do his overhead slash run in for a whirlwind slash. Do this for both phases. Only downside is it becomes a test of endurance and focus. If ya lose focus you're doomed.
> If you're going for platinum I think you have to beat Emma Isshin in NG+ to pop all
You do. If you USB save you can pop it in NG+ then copy file back over.
beat last boss with Tyrannicon's method in NG+. Beat him legit first time. he's so annoying. all that's left is endless grinding for skills....yawn

this is what I'm doing.
May as well. Have all the other trophies.
Na no platinum for me. I do have a copy of my save tho stored in PS online storage cloud right before I gave Owl an answer on my allegiance if I ever wanna go back to Ashina/Emma. But in all honesty I think I'll save them for NG+ when I get stronger. I'm about to face the Owl again though in the estate. Gonna use the Tyronican method again since that dude seems to know what's up.
Found a semi better place to farm XP. Ashina Castle Upper Tower Antechamber. backstab purple douche guy, jump down on top of that tower and have the Chained Ogre kill the two mobs - Homeward Idol. on NG+ purple douche is 2,000 or so XP red mobs killed are 1,800 each

I was doing a full run down the stairs and killing the flame thrower etc. Found backstabbing only is more efficient but boring.
At the last phase when the mobs fight each other you can use that to your advantage- still better use of time to backstab first guy repeatedly.

I think the game is slowly breaking me too. 2nd owl fight is just ugh. Like I know what I gotta do to GIT GUD but I really dont feel like taking 49393839 tries to master all his attacks. Might just go play something else for a while
Wait till you face @SilverOwl
He's tough mofo

This one comes eventually. It takes a bit of work but it gets easier. If you've made it there you can do it. Forget attacking and learn to block and deflect. Learn the jumps and mikiris. When he's walking run up and force him to deflect, then bait out a miss and hit him. I had to put this one down a few times- frustration was making it harder. Limit yourself to a certain number of tries or time, do something else and try again later.
Seriously- quitting and playing games / reading books with my daughter eased my mind, went back and won. Did the same for sword saint. It's surprising how much a mental state can wreck your skills.
Like I know the patterns to do with the Owl in the estate. When he charges forward I dodge roll forward once or twice to evade then counter with a swipe. When he thrusts, I mikaru, when he firecrackers I jump backwards. It's just a slow churn boss fight. I'm used to them going quick maybe that's why. It's a test of endurance and stamina here and if you lose focus once or twice, it's yo' ass! Maybe I just have A.D.D.
And @Heavyd814life I honestly don't know how many more endings there are. I was originally going for the Ashina/Emma one by accident due to a dialog choice I made with Owl, but I gave up and decided to go the Owl route, thinking he would be easier, but nothing about this game ever ends up being easy. Silly me. And @Feeb good advice. I think I'm going to go chillax with a movie and some time with the fam and come back at this another time.

Great serpent shrine idol, late game, jump to roof backstab sword monkey. Blow whistle. Let monkeys freak out on each other. Kill final sword monkey. Repeat. Crazy easy XP grind for 3K+ a pop in New Game alone.

3k for each monkey?

No, I think it's like 1400 per white monkey, but if you skip the rest and only kill the one on the roof and immediately respawn, the time invested is like 15 seconds a clip. Probably less, actually.
It just found it easier and had more fun with it, since you had the potential to get 300 per minor enemy after blowing the whistle and there's 5 of them I think in addition to 2 white monkeys.

Same here bro! I just beat Owl myself! I'm a little tipsy too. I guess I play better drunk? Oh well. Onto fountainhead palace!!!
I went white pinwheel. Got the big guy back at the vendors shop by the Ashina Stairs shrine.
I am so far behind u guys. I haven't been playing it much lately. and after reading all of this crap, I'm almost afraid to try. Ha. Yesterday I did beat the purple dude at the estates. Took me like 10 tries. Even tho Im struggling, I really do enhethr game.
Today a friend stopped by and asked about the Ninj game, so I put it on and went straight for the drunk dude. I didn't try to stealth or anything, just ran up on em. I actually got him down to one or two hits. Surprised myself
I started using Fightin Cowboy's YT guide. He is pretty thorough. I did all the side quests so far I believe. Just finished the Great Carp one. But I swear having a few drinks in me has empowered me. I just beat like 4 mini bosses, the divine dragon and 2 headless that were giving me such grief before Haha. Now it's onto the Demon of Hatred. Pray for me y'all!
Ah yeah I have no clue how to get the return ending. I'm currently going for the purification one I believe. And yeah I got both the upgraded finger whistle and fire umbrella for the demon of hatred which is said is needed to not break your controller from rage lol I'm about to fight him today. I'll be sure to post my thoughts. Pass or fail.
It's a side quest. It isn't related to any trophy, if that's a concern.
Side quests in their games are always hard to do. Always so vague.
The last boss is plain old tiring. 4 phases. Just why? That last phase is identical to phase 2 just cheap with the lightning. I feel it could have been Genechiro then 2 for Issun and be done with it because after just a few attempts I'm already burnt out.

Have to agree. Love the game, but the final boss is just tedious. I think they should have jumped straight from phase 2 - 4 and skipped phase 3 entirely. I spent hours fighting the last boss. By far took me longer than any other boss in the game.
I'd say it took me 4 hours to kill the final boss. Thankfully not days worth of frustration like others.
I've spent the entire day almost trying to beat the final boss. I apologize for saying Owl gave me a hard time. This is a nightmare.
Did you do Father Owl? Way worse than regular
It's easier doing poke and run but just feels lame.
I just beat Ishin the Sword Saint and omg I dont even smoke and I need a cigarette after that fight. No healing items left and down to my last drop of hp.
