Just started. Not a huge fan of the camera or controls. Everything just feels very... Jumpy.

A bit bummed it's not more Souls-ish, but I'm excited for it. Sorry DMC 5, on the shelf you go!

Anyone else playing?

I do not want go back and deal with Owl nor Ape ... like, I love that the game is hard, but these fights are just tiring.

I'm kind of bummed that the grapple doesn't play a large role in boss fights to add more versatility.

FYI and YMMV. I was just at GameStop, they had a stack of 3 Sekiro sword letter openers. I asked if they were for sale and she just gave me one for free.

Just throw fire crackers at the second ape over and over and it's posture bar will break in seconds.

His attack where he throws stars and then does a jump attack. Use Whirlwind Slash (it's the first art you get don't remember if that's what it's really called) run away. Rinse, repeat. he has another attack that works with this method as well but I forget it.

Use firecrackers often and only try to heal when you're all the way across the room. Constantly circle right and run, try to never stop. Learn to deflect / block when dashes right at you.

If you're having trouble with the rush at you moves use the firecrackers to stop it.

I beat the 2 apes with no problem. Was kinda easy actually. Now I hate my life being stuck on Emma and Isshun. 40 tries later and still nothing. I really need to learn to get the timing down for Isshun's moveset. I nailed Emma's but his 2nd form is tricky. I found a strat online where you spam firecrackers and whirlwind slash his 2nd form until he's at half hp then just dodge left when he strikes to get behind him and spank him.

I cheesed him with shadow rush. You can use it even with no emblems. You learn the distance that it just hits him, jump back immediately, do it again. Gotta jump fast he always counters with 2 attacks. If you do it quickly and accurately it's literally a loop trap. And be sure you HOLD R1 and L1 to increase the range of the first strike.

The secret to owl is trying to keep him as central as possible in the room. It prevents the dash and makes the punishable jump more frequent.

You got this @MrBean. You just need to be patient with Owl. Just attempt it a few times and run around trying to master his move set. That jump attack is definitely the best window to get a couple of hits in. He also does a two hit combo that gives you a bit of an opening if you block the first one and then dodge to your right on the second one. And then there's the orb he likes to throw. If you can get close and sidestep, there's a window there too. Also firecrackers helped me a lot when I needed to create distance and heal. Good luck, man!

I just beat Owl. He was fine when I used Tyranicon'a strat from YouTube. His vids are legit. I gave up on Ashina and Emma. I'll do them on NG+ eventually. That 3rd phase with the fire is morbidly obese for me. But for the first Owl encounter just keep running left to right and dodge his moves and when he tosses 2 shurikens and jumps to do his overhead slash run in for a whirlwind slash. Do this for both phases. Only downside is it becomes a test of endurance and focus. If ya lose focus you're doomed.

Farming from the Ashina Outskirts - Stairway idol was the best one I found. Virtually no chance of dying since you can backstab everyone and there are a bunch of enemies you can take down in a short amount of time.

I was doing a full run down the stairs and killing the flame thrower etc. Found backstabbing only is more efficient but boring.

At the last phase when the mobs fight each other you can use that to your advantage- still better use of time to backstab first guy repeatedly.

This one comes eventually. It takes a bit of work but it gets easier. If you've made it there you can do it. Forget attacking and learn to block and deflect. Learn the jumps and mikiris. When he's walking run up and force him to deflect, then bait out a miss and hit him. I had to put this one down a few times- frustration was making it harder. Limit yourself to a certain number of tries or time, do something else and try again later.

Seriously- quitting and playing games / reading books with my daughter eased my mind, went back and won. Did the same for sword saint. It's surprising how much a mental state can wreck your skills.

Yes. The fight is not about attacking at all. That's the first thing you have to learn. You get good at deflects, take the obvious hits and you'll get it.

Owl father looks so slow now. I thought it was impossible for 3 days.

Like I know the patterns to do with the Owl in the estate. When he charges forward I dodge roll forward once or twice to evade then counter with a swipe. When he thrusts, I mikaru, when he firecrackers I jump backwards. It's just a slow churn boss fight. I'm used to them going quick maybe that's why. It's a test of endurance and stamina here and if you lose focus once or twice, it's yo' ass! Maybe I just have A.D.D.

And @Heavyd814life I honestly don't know how many more endings there are. I was originally going for the Ashina/Emma one by accident due to a dialog choice I made with Owl, but I gave up and decided to go the Owl route, thinking he would be easier, but nothing about this game ever ends up being easy. Silly me. And @Feeb good advice. I think I'm going to go chillax with a movie and some time with the fam and come back at this another time.

No, I think it's like 1400 per white monkey, but if you skip the rest and only kill the one on the roof and immediately respawn, the time invested is like 15 seconds a clip. Probably less, actually.

It just found it easier and had more fun with it, since you had the potential to get 300 per minor enemy after blowing the whistle and there's 5 of them I think in addition to 2 white monkeys.

OK ... wtf. I took a break for the day, was so pissed (still at Owl). First run, I got him down to two hits (best run I've ever had).

Second attempt, killed him. Super excited, went and farmed for a bit (with demon bell on). Said fudge it, and went and killed underwater headless on first shot and then went over to Headless Ape (who I've never tried before). Beat that fudgeer one shot too. I went in there just to die and learn the fight, but ended up totally whooping his ass. I've killed like 6 bosses now with the bell on, I keep forgetting I have it on. God speed! Honestly after Corrupted Monk 2, I didn't have any issues with bosses until Demon of Hatred. I think that was the sweet spot for me. Most of those bosses only took me a couple of tries and there are even some that I did on the first try. If you are using a guide, I bet you get both Demon and the final boss in no time. 90% of the battle with those two is knowing what to expect. Execution should be no problem for you.

On the endings...I was surprised to read just how involved the path to the Return ending is. I have no idea how I got it without using a guide. Not quite as vague as the path to the true ending in Bloodborne, though. I was only able to get that one on my second playthrough with a guide.

I feel you, man. Even Genichiro 1 pissed me off because they made it 3 phases. And I kept dying on phase 3 because I sucked at the lighting stuff and had to do it over and over again. Thankfully it only took me about 10 attempts to beat the final boss. If it was as difficult for me as some of the other bosses were, I would have raged pretty hard.

Have to agree. Love the game, but the final boss is just tedious. I think they should have jumped straight from phase 2 - 4 and skipped phase 3 entirely. I spent hours fighting the last boss. By far took me longer than any other boss in the game.

Damn, I legit had no real issues with the final boss. My strat makes it a long battle, but I really think it's actually kinda easy since you can get out of the way of virtually all his attacks and just attacks during the couple of openings you get. What are you having an issue with, Talon? Maybe you can try the strat I used because I swear it wasn't that hard.

It's easier doing poke and run but just feels lame.

On the advice of kommie, I went to the flower viewing stage checkpoint (think it's called) and grinded a whole level or so learning to flawlessly lightning reflect on the thunder guy there. Definitely the reason I finally beat sword saint.

I know what you mean, but you still have to understand his moveset and know when you can and can't attack and how to avoid his attacks. Attack at the wrong time and you'll get punished hard. And if you don't know his moves, you'll get punished. I guess that's why getting one or two hits in here and there and doing a few mikiri counters didn't feel as lame to me.
