Hey all, my oldest is 3 1/2 and started getting into games on the Switch. We have all the typical kid'ish games (all Mario variants, Yoshi, Kirby, Lego, Paw Patrol, Goose Game, etc.). He does fairly well with Mario Kart, Yoshis Crafted and Paw Patrol. Others (like Smash brothers) he likes but gets frustrated. Lego games are just a bit much at this time too (the 3d control is a work in progress).

Looking for suggestions on easy to play games for him. Have to assume there's a ton of hidden gems in the eshop. All Google searches result in the well known go-to's (like Mario everything).

Thanks

The eshop is nothing but rubbish. Personally I feel Pokemon SwSh is very kid friendly but 3 1/2 is quite young. Aside from that I can't really recommend anything except for retrogames, for example the games on Nintendo Switch Online, Sonic 1/2, etc.

3 1/2 is super young. Most kids that age can't handle losing or getting stuck very well (at least my 3 nephews couldn't).

That being said, Kirby Allstar Allies is a really easy game, at least until you get to final boss.

I said the same, he's too young, but the kid has skills. He plays various games by himself or with me and he's learned his way. Clearly it's the Dad DNA, haha. I honestly didn't want him playing games but... So is 2021.

The Kirby variant of SSMB has become a solid choice, even though Dad does all the work. Also discovering Mario Kart has an easy/kids mode was amazing.

Yeah I was thinking about that as well, get him on some OG side scrollers.

Also, I haven't played Pokémon since... GBC days? Sword and Shield... Fun to play as a Dad/son combo or too in depth?

Yah he's loving all things Kirby now because of this game. Picked up the other two eshop Kirby games as well. The fighter one (Clash?) is surprisingly easy to play, much more so than SSBU.

@shadyfozzie - We got Just Dance recently, he likes the kid songs.

I was gonna get carnival games as it was on sale but seemed like rough reviews, you think it's worth it? It's only $10, just grabbed it.

What UFO game?

The labo stuff seemed awesome but... Another clutter, that they'd probably break anuway!

I regret allowing my then 4 and 5 year olds to play games. Now it's all they ask for.

carnival games is cheesy, but it's good for their age.. they are simple controls and you can unlock costumes and stuff..
the ufo game is this: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d...
It's 2 players co-op so you can both play.

it's cheesy too, but again, simple controls and fun games (like bouncing to catch bananas, riding a pig, etc)
