Game selection so far is pretty bad but looks like more games are going to be added. Also need to know more about price.

Super surprising!

I've already got about every PC-Engine game I'm interested in, but if this turns out well I'll pick it up and sell off the games I no longer need.

I think the list looks pretty good so far, except for The Kung Fu on the japanese list.

With all these minis we need multi adapter for all cords

If the price isn't astronomical, I'm in.

$80 is my max on any of these micro consoles. Maybe... maybe $100.

With how good of a line up the Sega Genesis Mini now has, this thing is going to have its work cut out for it. Should have launched after the PS Classic because anything would have looked good next to that thing.

lol I feel the same way with a modded PC. This whole mini system thing just does not seem attractive to me it would mean more wires and consoles lying around and most, if not all the emulators on a modded PC are better than the ones they have in the mini systems and you don't have to deal with a limited library. I think I'm just going to wait and buy the genesis and Dreamcast minis just for display.

I think most of the folks here who would buy them know about emulation. Some may do it for the shelf candy factor, but being able to play these games legally without spending an arm and a leg is a big draw for me.

it's not as expensive as you think, an OG xbox, psp, raspberry pi, Nintendo wii can emulate all these mini systems. you can do this legally if you own the games,But honestly i think the FBI has bigger concerns than 16 bit pirates. and most likely a lot of these pirates probably paid for the same games multiple times over the years lol buying them every time there is a new system or collection. until they figured out they can just emulate them. Anyway it's all good i got no problem with people wanting to buy this stuff, it's just not worth it for me, unless i am making a game room which i might do since i plan to build my own arcade maybe i'll end up buying a few minis lol

I think this is the case for many as well; I'm not a collector, but I firmly believe that if you think a game is worth playing you should legally own it(either digitally or physically), rather than illegally emulate it. With how outrageously priced Turbografx and now even some PC-Engine games have become, this should be a great option for those wanting to legally play these games.

I'm also to the point where I prefer getting older games on a mini system or current console, as I have too many systems, and I find it very convenient; this is why I previously stated that as long as they do a good job on this, then I would pick one up and sell off the games I no longer needed.

+1 for the appeal of being able to legally own these games.

Oh for sure - my comment wasn't about the cost of emulation, it was about the cost of buying retro games nowadays if you don't already own them.

Here are the cheapest (cart/disc only usually) listings I found from the first page of ebay sold listings for the games already announced for this thing, rounded to the nearest dollar.

R-type: $35
New Adventure Island $45
Ninja Spirit $20
Ys Book I & II $35
Dungeon Explorer $13
Alien Crush $16

So, $164 for 6 games, if you are patient or lucky enough to get them this cheap. And with probably at least a dozen or more games yet unannounced, that value only goes up. Especially if they add some of the heavy hitters. For example, Bonk 3 alone would pretty much double the value of the games listed (most copies sold in the $280 and up range, but I did find one sold listing for $155)

I never got into the whole mini craze, I played all the consoles, I did however miss the tg16. Bought one later that I sold because the games i wanted got incredibly hard or increasingly expensive to get. If the mini showcases some of the RPGs that the tg had I just might pull the trigger. It already has me interested with dungeon explorer, ys I have on DS.

I would actually recommend checking out the Turbo or even the PSP version of Ys, if you have the chance; I don't think the DS version is all that good, but I consider some of the other versions among my favorite games.
