new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

So a seller on ebay is trying to stiff me on an N-gage they never sent, after i had won a did not receive case on it over a month ago. They gave me a tracking number that didn't update until a few days ago, and whatever it is, it ain't coming to me. Tracking says it's apparently going to someone in Iowa City, IA. Can they even file a claim against me at this point, or would the package just be considered a gift?

They threw my wife's eBay account a bone...$10 off of a $30+ purchase...I have nothing in that range to buy...

Maybe an Anime blu? or a PS1/PS2/Saturn import?

Everything else is pretty meh right now.

We had both as kids so that's part of why I haven't played many classics on either system. Who can afford to play everything on both let alone on just one?

Also, don't believe this Ninja Guy-den Fanatic. He'd probably pronounce Nintendo Nin-guy-den.

Couple of easy brackets, and a couple of brutal ones... I mean, CT vs SMRPG?

I thought that was a brutal one. Both are great games in their own right, but I just had more fond memories of CT.

Same place Harvest Moon and Donkey Kong Country 2 are. On the sidelines sitting this one out.
But I'm not as invested in most Snes stuff compared to Nes stuff anyways. Like I know and don't care that most people aren't going to like Mortal Kombat 2 and SF2 Turbo or dkc2 as much as I do.

When it comes to fighting games in general you have to put in the most time out of almost any genre to even be considered decent. It's probably the most hardcore and competitive genre which takes the most skill to play at the highest levels more or less. Also Donkey Country 2 is easily the most difficult of the 3 which may be another reason people don't enjoy it as much.

I'm actually angry about no less than three of the pairings just in the first bracket. Star fox is dogcrap though, not sure why you gave a couple easy wins.

Mario RPG and Chrono Trigger was tough, I had to give CT the nod just because if you don't like the ending you got, chances are you suck and can get a better one if you try hard. Also it was better?

Voted Contra 3 because although I've beaten neither and I enjoy both, I know which one I'm more interested in trying again.

Motherfudging haters on StarFox?! Yes the framerate is garbage, but when it came out on console there was nothing like it. I loved it, played it yes on the SNES lassic recently, and it's fun as heck despite the technical craphouse that it is these days. It made me love that genre, leading me into Panzer Dragoon and the 64 sequel and loving those exponentially more. Space harrier and its clones were great, but Star Fox was another beast in my opinion and gave new life to that into the screen shooting gameplay adding in more Z movement to the the ships, and turns on X and Y in the playfield vs a straight line. It was a game changer for making you feel like you were in the space. Framerate and overall graphical quality is crap, I get it, but danm it was a fun game at the time and is still today if you give it a chance.

Also, if it weren't for Star Fox I would never have gotten into Panzer Dagoon, and without getting into Panzer Dragoon I would not have gotten Saga when it first came out and never would have owned that game :) Next months GOTM: PDS!

I can't think of a game I played (that isn't a remake/remaster) that completly and utterly replaced a game like Star Fox 64 replaced Star Fox. It's not that Star Fox wasn't awesome on SNES, and I'm the last person to say this about any game, but it sure hasn't aged well now that we have the game Star Fox was basically supposed to be.

Also I've beaten PDS but not Zwei and Orta.
