new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

I'm trying to remember which Radeon I had that was a toaster. Think it was the 4870x2. Couldn't touch the backplate of my pc after like 5 mins of gaming. The x800xt was also pretty bad as well if I recall.

With an adapter will work with the Sega Dreamcast Virtual On OT as well :) Not sure beyond that.

Ah, nothing like helping clean out a TRU! Picked some amiibo up at 60% off (except Pit, which was 40% for some reason), then perused the games. 360 Fantasia for $3, and a steal on Adventure Time Dungeon 3DS for a whopping $0.02. (It was the last copy.)

I don't know if it was a localized error in my store, or if the system really thinks the game had a normal price of 3 cents. If you meant the other things, my store was in the original 20% of closures, so it probably has steeper discounts. I'd be surprised, though, if the remaining stores hadn't at least started something, then again, the TRU website has no mention yet...

TRU has been selling all skylanders except imaginators for .50 since the beginning of December. The stores around here literally have none left now. They did the same with Infinity, but they had big buy 1 get 4 or 5 free sales about once a month for over a year on those. I'm also hoping to see a sale on imaginators, but their selection has gotten very small over the last few months. The Dimensions selections is pretty small now as well, they have been putting some on clearance but the prices are still too high for me.

Some time last year I picked up the Dimensions starter set at GS for $20. At one of my GS there is a PS4 starter set of Imaginators for $24. Maybe TRU will put sell them for $2 before they close, who knows.

If you have never played Imaginators, be sure to pick up all the crystals if you find them. I used the crystals 99.9% of the time as the characters you can make are so much cooler than the one you can buy. Once you use them they are locked in and can't be changed, but if you have an old version of skylanders you can use that to reset them. But it is nice to have several of each element so you can have different characters.

I stopped by last Sunday and didn't see any type of sales going on.

I want the box sets for a couple bucks more than the figures themselves. I think I'm out on collecting toys to life themselves (is this still a category, or did the genre itself die?). I have tons of Lego Dimensions which is the game I was most interested in and playing that is such a chore.

Daytona is Sega's best racing game of the Genesis era, so I can understand why it's not your favorite Saturn era racer.

Call me a "conscientious objector" on that bracket. Though, if I did vote on it, I think I'd lean more towards Spyro the Dragon (PlayStation). Flying around in that game was pretty damn cool. cool smile

1. Symphony of the Night - Easy, especially if we're talking about the Saturn version.

8. Spyro - I... guess?

12. Shining Force III - Especially if I get all 3 scenarios.

13. Nights into Dreams - More a vote against the beginning of an end...

11. Radiant Silvergun - Just because.

14. Dragon Force - Keeping with the more fun games to play now.

10. Daytona USA - Again, I guess?

15. Guardian Heroes - Another vote against overhyped trash.
