new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

I got my wish.
http://www.siliconera.com/2018/04/13/sega-mega-dri...

I was hoping the Nintendo classics incredible sales would intrigue other system developers. Please let it release in US, be hackable, and able to run SegaCD emulators and I will be complete.

This is going to be awesome! I just hope they have the foresight to add games like PulseMan and other hidden gems from all three markets that are hard to find or really expensive.

And yes a bunch of sega cd and 32x games added on later would be really cool 😊 But I think in the original version they have to focus on classic Genesis and maybe sneak in some master system games.

Just found out atgames is doing this. So that is bad news. They are the ones who made their previously crappy made flashback consoles with bad sound quality or emulation. We can hope I guess.

Yes we can hope ..... I still haven't played any of those atgames Genesis knockoffs. I imagine they're terrible but I can't say one way or another myself.

Has anyone played those retro 2600 systems they had next to the fake Genesis clones? I used to wonder if those were any good too.

If it's something hakchi can hack then they can just add fusion emulator. If something like that is possible then I will get it. Otherwise pass.

it is neat looking, i guess we'll see if it delivers.. i have that last "thing" they put out, and its neat to play around with for a little while but the quality is not comparable to an actual genny and them advertising 80 games or whatever and half of them arent even genny games was pretty dirty of them

The sound is garbage on ALL of them, and they care nothing about even trying to fix it. There's even patches that almost fix it in software, kind of, but it's still awful.

I guess it depends on the quality of it, but if it plays as good as it looks (the heavy duty layout I'm referring to not the art design necessarily) that probably is a great deal. I still want the MK fight stick for the 360 though.

That's really unfortunate. There were some really solid Genesis exclusives and sometimes I think I even prefer its lineup to the Super Nes but Sega needs to oversee the actual systems and make them put together a higher quality product.

I guess Sega really only cares about the bottom line now but it is a business 😞 If people will buy garbage I guess sell them garbage.

Sega don't give a crap.

The PC has a great collection of games in the Sega Genesis Collection, which is getting ported to the PS4 and Xbox One.

So what do they do for the Switch? They're only releasing 15 games there as part of the Sega Ages series. Just 15 instead of the whole bunch (though I guess the rest will come later.)

Sega is completely and utterly fudging stupid.

The MK stick for 360 is complete ass, this stick (albeit with no customer support RIP Mad Catz) is pretty solid and highly moddable. But I understand a benji is a bit to pay for a controller.

I've never actually played with the MK 360 stick. Well it's good to know if and when I ever get one (for kollection purposes of course) that I won't need to worry about practicing on it to play competitively, since I'm really decent with the 360 dpad despite how awful people say it plays on mk9.

100 IS a lot when I don't play more than one game online very competitively. But I'm not saying a great fight stick isn't still worth having even for just one game IF I was decent with a fight stick. Maybe if I ever got back into Street Fighter it would be a necessity. Was that the game you were planning on buying it for?

@Gypsy, you're a PC guy. So how to I output my PC to my projector while still being able to use my monitor as well? (I mean I know I can simply run a long ass HDMI cable if I have no other options).

@diamonddave, you're an EMU guy. Have you been using LaunchBox Big Box? I just saw it and I'm going to spend some time setting it up with MAME and a few other systems.

My goal is to get my PC output to my 100" screen and set up that beautiful big box front end. And get a 8bitdo PC wireless controller to enjoy large screen emulation with an amazing interface.

Does your video card have more than one output? Guessing it does based on your post. In that case you just need a long ass cable or an extender. Idk how picky you are about HDMI cable quality but if it's a really long run you might want to get an extender. If you don't have two hdmi outputs on your video card you will need a splitter.

If you do need a splitter Extron recently announced a new one with a bunch of outputs that supports 4:4:4. Also HDCP 2.2 compliant, I think the previous one was 2.0. It's not cheap though.

I would only need 2 outputs. 1 for monitor on my computer desk, one for projector. Actually I am sitting under my projector. So way less than 50 feet. If I want to wall run it, it might be just over 20. I'm going to check if I have 2 HDMI outs. I bought it within the last year and I know I bought a $150 nvidia card.

@gypsy I have a Geforce gtx 950. It seems to have 3 ports. According to the tech specs

Dual Link DVI-I, HDMI 2.0, 3x DisplayPort 1.2

I think I still have a DVI to HDMI from my iscan HD+ usage. I could use that to the monitor and a long ass HDMI out to the projector. So how do I set it up where I can switch between outputs? (or does it always output to both monitors simultaneously?

Like, they've gotta be in some exclusivity deal or something, this makes no sense for them to stick with such a crapfudge company that doesn't give two dicks about what they put on the shelves. This is nauseating.

You mean MS as in Microsoft? I would love that! I haven't had a reason to buy a new power brick for my Xbox one (partly because I still have another Xbox one coming from an auction one of these days) but there's Cuphead I still have yet to play and new Sega games and Castlevania games would be a pretty great reason to get back into it.

Although I still need to play my 360 Castlevania first too. Eh, it's hard to get excited about games sometimes. These companies don't care about us only our money. They ALL do wrong by us. Especially Nintendo 😉 Other than finally rereleasing the Nes classic with hopefully enough stock to meet demand this time. Kinda too little too late though. And yes I get that business is only about money in the end but you can at least pretend to want to give us what we pay for.
