new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

I know what you mean I never got finished playing through Sonic Adventure back in the day on my DC and it's one of those games I always think great thoughts about and want to play again. Even if the gameplay isn't better than Mario or whatever I just loved all the backgrounds and the feeling of exploration. Also the characters were fun too. Probably one of my favorite 3D type action adventure games that isn't called tomb raider 😉

And yeah the extras on these Streets of Rage games make them exciting again, like actually competing for high scores and I think there's a final boss beat down mode or something?

I do love arcade type games that I can just jump into and out of whenever, those are the types of games I end up spending the most time on. Like trying to get A+ on every Super Meat Boy level? I love the difficulty in that game!

Okay I'm rambling again.

Sonic Adventure 1 is a train wreck. Two has it's moments but some of the characters suck to play.

I didn't mean I was just gonna spend all that money. Just that when new games come out (Octopath for example) I have saved up money and don't have to use money from my bank. I'm going to focus on playing what games I still have and only buy games I feel like playing immediately (we'll see how long that lasts).

I've been doing this with new games and it's been a liberating experience.

If you want a TRULY liberating experience? SELL ALL YOUR CRAP. Leave 1 system and 1 game(the game you're playing)

You may own a laptop for emulating, laptops are also a great portable experience

That's what I would do, but currently not doing.

My brother has like 10 games. But he has quite a few digitals. He plays a few and trades trades them off. He even takes to GameStop because he says the less money is worth less hassle of shipping on eBay or giving them to me and moving them here. He's weird.

@tonymack21, What a weirdo your brother is. He buys games, plays them then gets rid of them?

Who the hell does that? If he was normal, he would:

Buy games -> Hold on to them in his backlog -> Never get to them -> Lament the fact he has such a large backlog and no time for games -> Buy more games -> Backlog becomes another word for bottomless pit

I think I've gotten to the point where I don't feel compelled to play every single game in my collection. It's not really a concern for me anymore. But if I'm in the mood for a specific type of game, odds are I have something.

IF you want to air this crap out here, fine. I refunded your shipping costs of $4.50 and then some for your pain and suffering, and I will be paying on my dime to ship out heavy ass magazines to get it to you. I just haven't gotten to the damn post office to get it out to you.

In all honesty I felt I had to. You wouldn't respond to me at all. Thank you for refunding me. I hold no grudges.

Idk about the rest of y'all but I'm sick as fudge. Last thing I want to do is exist let alone socialize.

Maybe I'll put season 5 of Buffy back on. Maybe not. I've been not moving forward because of that one really sad episode. I stopped binging it over a week ago just because of that.

Happy Sunday kids hope y'all are doing way better than I am.

Oh btw I tried that elevator challenge from the xboxlive version of Streets of Rage 1 a few days ago, it's pretty fun trying to beat your fastest time. And good practice if you normally have problems with it. You have unlimited lives too, the goal is just speed running it.

$110 for only 2X? Meh. Just spend a little more for the OSSC. I can see if it was like 50 bucks. We need some retro video gear with 4K support now.

Also did you guys see this new SNES game by Devolver Digital? Most Mega Cat games I've played really aren't great, but I like the idea behind this one. Almost guaranteed to be rarer than a Mega Man X repro even.

Yeah, it's harder to find legit carts now. If it's remotely popular it's just a pile of crap, either have to sort by price or just click on "used", they usually list repros as new.

Well you never know what kinds of cool stuff people will come up given the chance to design their own games with decent programming tools. It's not the worst idea I've ever heard and I definitely think it's a great idea personally.

I'm getting rid of my JVC X'Eye, love the thing but I need more room.

It's in amazing condition for a system this old.

Will include system, OEM AC, JVC 3 button, AV or RF cable depends on what I find. I'll also throw in any random loose games I find, prolly like Sonic 2, Shining Force cart without label, Sewer Shark...

Looking for $250. It's not cheap, but you won't find one in better condition. I also believe the laser has been replaced, but I'm not 100% on that. This was refurbished by @Snatcher.

I also have a 32X system and a few Genny and CD games I can bundle with the system
