new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Sounds like the guy who split from the other store has some good stuff..but in business sitting on that stuff makes you no money..so that sucks that his prices suck.

Thanks for thinking of me on the movie code, we've seen it so if someone who hasn't would like to take up that offer go ahead :)

It was okay at first but then anything uncommon became like 4-5x eBay prices.

Oh no. I was watching it with a DC fanboy and we were both looking at each other about 20 minutes in and decided we'd rather be doing anything else. Think we played Magic for a couple hours or something

I think the makers of the movie were like... "in" on the joke or something, stuff was too meta, character shifts and non-shifts were inconsistent (Bruce was deadpan, but Damian was like, Teen Titans Robin, even though Tim and Dick were in the alt reality already). But Selena grew some nice boobs!

I've heard that from a couple people, and I don't think some people really understand what induces seizures. But feel free to flop around if you're bored.

Anyways, if you get the chance to try out Ninja Batman for free, I wouldn't say don't, but I wouldn't spend more than a rental cost for it.

Well, I have a friend who has seizures and the last time he had one, it was, I believe anyways, due to severe stress.

I think there are different things that trigger them in different people. I don't know about Ninja Batman though. I just watched a video of some blazblue vita gameplay and I think I'm done watching videos for a few hours after that one. Maybe I'll look it up later, is it anime or something? If so ..... it's just not my thing.

It's a stylized CGI affair, oriental houses that turn into mechas. Kinda reminds me of the Berserk reboot, only they actually got enough money to animate it properly. Not really up my alley either frankly. Some bits were hand drawn and funnily enough look way better than most of the movie.

I sped the avatar up to 250% speed, let me know if this makes it better.

Having gamer kids is great. Get them started then your wife will be like well he's spending time with the kids I won't fuss about them playing. My son and I have won some fortnite matches he is legit af on some fortnite. He plays all the time though, I don't spend enough time practicing to be real good at it.

My daughter is a gamer room.doesnt spend as much time as son but she plays alot. Prefers things like the escapists or Minecraft..Lego games..but she fortnites.

She's a huge DC buff and we are behind we need to see Gotham by gaslight and Batman ninja both. We are turnt about young justice season 3 can't wait for that.

lol I think it's same difference actually, for me at any rate. I don't have seizures but I think we all have things about our minds and bodies science has yet to properly explain anyways.

A perfect example is ASMR. I totally get the tingles, it's almost like having a sixth sense. Some people swear they don't but I have a feeling it's like gushing o's, all women are "capable of having them" but somehow they don't realize that yet if they haven't ever experienced it before. One of my friends recently realized she has been wrong for years lol.

Yup I just totally went there. Retro Kama Sutra thread lol.

But yeah as far as seizures go anything can trigger them maybe. I would assume it's just a huge combination of everything else and then the brain gets overloaded with too much stimuli and people wanna just say it's the visual stimuli that made it happen by itself, but I think there's a lot more to it than just whatever they try to say the "catalyst" was when the seizure actually happened. Who knows?

I had some fun playing Golden Tee at the bar with my friends today, so I went home to see how I could have some Golden Tee fun and practice at home and there's basically no good options. You can buy a home version of the arcade for $4000, great. They haven't made a PC port since 1996. MAME supports 13+ year old versions, great, but there's no commercially available USB trackballs anymore. I had no idea this game had the arcade-only thing on such lockdown.

Golden Tee from ~2006 on has been more or less incremental upgrades. It's by far the best version of the game, and it has some crazy number of courses 60+ now, in addition to weird modern stuff like achievements, unlockables, etc.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-pMpfnKuZA

This is the latest version you can play with the help of good old software piracy (although you still can't get a great controller for it). I've probably played more Golden Tee Fore than any other arcade golf game, but man after the deeper spin options and less finicky putting of the new games it's tough to go back!

Thanks sir I'll check it out! You seem pretty knowledgeable about golf, do you play in the real too or something? Or is it just this game you like so much? Either way it's good to be passionate about stuff no one else is doing since everybody playing call of duty and/or other redundant super popular crap makes it seem kinda basic and uninteresting after awhile.

There was this weird Sega arcade game I played a million years ago and it was (I think anyways) a rollerball controlled mini golf game that may have had other games on the same cabinet. I played it in 1991 or 1992 at a Pizza Hut I think and it's the only place I remember ever seeing it. I thought it was cool but I barely remember it since that was the only time I saw it there. Maybe you could find it and play it somewhere.

That 2018 trailer looks awesome!

The other video was really cool too I didn't watch the whole second video because it seemed like it might be a complete playthrough, which is like a spoiler alert to me.

But honestly both of those videos made the games look really fun. Thanks for sharing! If I see one of these out in the wild I'm definitely going to try to play it if its unoccupied 😊

So Arrow Flash is one of those games where you're Hulk Hogan until you die. I guess the strategy is don't die. The couple stages I've seen so far pose basically no challenge, but I'm dying to bosses then feeling the hurt with my pea shooter.

Arrow Flash on 7 stock. I'll see if I can do 3 stock now. The hardest part will probably be the last stage itself, but all the bosses are a joke with the arrow flash and the final boss is a joke with the pea shooter, so dying before/during a boss isn't an issue.

Also this game gets kind of cool on the last stage... 1990 spoiler for the BVs and Lunars of the world.

You enter a freaking dragons mouth and its insides are full of tiny dragons. Why is the rest of this game such a boring, empty space shooter when the last stage is so awesome.

Beat Arrow Flash on stock settings (3 stock)

I'm going to get flak for this from someone, but Arrow Flash is legitimately the easiest shooting game I've ever played. It's not Uncharted 4 "you literally can't lose" easy, but in the relatively tough genre of shooters, I can't think of a game that was less frustrating. The arrow flash is STUPID powerful and you get about a million of them.

Uncharted 4 is my go to modern example because it took a franchise I loved and completed turned it into a gameplayless movie. Climbing on walls having a conversation in that game is like fighting The Imprisoned in Skyward Sword for the 11th time. Enough already.
