new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

I haven't started yet. Ys VIII was eating up all my free time and now I'm trying to watch some BDs I've had sitting for awhile since I just ordered some more. It's an uphill battle lol. That said I know from past experience that Popful is a game I can easily knock out over a single weekend.

Lol. Yeah it basically doesn't work with eBay. Ebates is even worse from my experience. Both suck tbh but I have got stuff from Honey for every purchase I've made online not on eBay since I've got it which is way more than I can say for ebates.

You can't have two people on stools in front of that cabinet, they'd both be out of frame of the game. Someone's playing dog.

What a fudging waste of money. Like, I get it, I see some appeal to it, but they're literally selling you a $75 TV and some wood with decals, and likely an RPi-equivalent, maybe an arduino. And it's so impractical for MP games that it's a joke. You will not have rousing bouts of SF2 on those tiny-ass fudging replicas.

Been playing a lot of Ninja Ryūkenden. It's almost like it's a good game or something I guess. Kaiketsu Yanchamaru is solid as well, actually my first time playing that one. A bit on the easy side however.

I agree, because it has a single player control panel. It's freaking Asteroids and Lunar Lander, lol.

yep that's arcade1up. Had street fighter pre ordered but I need to know first if the quality is not absolute crap, if it can be hacked, and if so if the chip isn't so laughably weak that it can't even run 90s arcade games at 60fps.

Best way to play NES honestly for titles that don't require sixty years of reading is AV Famicom and buy Famicom, VERY rarely will carts cost more on FC than NES, usually hella cheaper.

Please get a copy of Walt Disney world racing for her if you haven't yet. It's just fun and cute.
I might be a grown up but I usually know what kinds of games little kids like. There's some great Disney music in it on some of the tracks. Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain for sure plus if you've never played it I'm pretty sure you'll like it too.

It's also available (possibly cheaper) on ps1 but I remembered liking the DC version better. One of them had frame rate issues it might have been the DC too but it's been like 20 years since I had the ps1 version too.

Also that pic is perfection. 😊

Ok, so I want to play Persona 3 FES. I do not currently own a ps3 or ps2. I do have a PS2 classic version of it (Digital). Is there any system that can emulate PS2 games? Nvidia shield or just a PS3? I want to play in the highest resolution possible.

I think PS3 can but you'd be better off using your PC if you have one. At this point potatoes can emulate PS2 well.

Shield can not do PS2, that's just over the line of what it can do, (which is odd because many dreamcast games are pretty good on there) PC is your best bet if you have even a midrange system. PCSX2 emulator, free and works well. my i5 3ghz and gtx1060 system with 8gb ram runs ps2 amazing at 1080p, so much smoothing and brings new life to that generation of games. ps3 would be second choice I suppose, Im pretty sure my rebug/multiman ps3 has a folder for ps2 iso's but I haven't tried that since pc is so good.

hmm... it may be possible if there is a program that fools it into thinking its an xinput? I use an x1 controller or a gamesir g3 for most of my emu stuff, but most work natively with 360 controllers super good.

Random question, not sure if this is considered "retro" but regarding a CIB black label Gamecube collection, was there a Pac Man World 2/Pac Man Vs set that is not players choice? I have it with the yellow label right now but I want to get rid of it and get a nice black label if that is an option...

Why has no one called this guy out yet for this?

http://gametz.com/Console_Marketplace/looking-trad...

Oh really? You're willing to trade me 5 maybe 6 of your 7 total used 3ds games for a Switch?!?
Has anyone taken you up on this amazing deal yet?!? Where can I sign up?!?

But seriously is this why we here at gametz can't have nice things? There's a whole commentary in general about no one buying or selling or trading and then this deal of the century pops up. Ugh.
