new Thread Description
Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.

Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.

Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!

Old Topic Description

This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

I have a bid out on a copy of King's Field Ancient City (that I won't win). Also have offers out on some board games. Might as well try to stretch the bucks.

Thanks I will! I remember liking those late game spells. But I didn't beat it probably due to my untreated depression around that time. I so look forward to finishing this one up! I agree BTW. It's the main reason I still have a 360 and not a PS3. When I first played it I was like, is this what JRPGs are gonna look like now? And I got so excited. It's really sad that it just went downhill from there for jrpgs last gen. But it looks like they are making a decent comeback this gen!!

The PS2 Slim 90001 model and a PS3 Slim combo. There are only a handle full of good ps2 classics so the rest will be on the PS2. I think in the end I probably spent over 100 bucks in PS2 systems. The good news is I know how to fix them all and will put them up for sale/trade soon.

You mean PS2 slim right? PS3 slim can not play PS2 games. I really wish there was something other than the phat PS3 that could play PS2 games. Because I need 1) auto turn on with a controller button press 2) hdmi

PS3. I bought Persona 3 FES and SMT Nocturne digitally back in a sale a while back. Those 2 are next up on my backlog once I finish Tokyo Mirage Sessions. I am using the PS2 for games not available on the PS store.

Oh ok you are playing digital games on PS3. I was wondering haha. I have a handful of PS2 games but I really wish I had a newer system to play them on.

My SMS arrived today! I fired up Fantasy Zone, which also happens to be my first schmup, and it's a blast. The colors are awesome and I like the little alien enemies. After about fifteen or twenty game overs I JUST beat the first boss but quickly died in the second level. One hit deaths are brutal.

looks like its kind of like their deals with some other companies in that they don't outright own them or a stake in them but have partnerships for things, I wonder how long until they just outright buy some of these companies though. they have small to large shares in many companies looks like, but no percentage of squeenix...yet.

I have to admit I have no idea what that means for square enix and their future games. As long as they have teams making console games like Octopath Traveller and Kingdom Hearts III. I'm not sure if I should care about this.

it sounds like at least from that they'll be partnering for online stuff and possibly expanding their products into china through them, tencent has been active trying to get the restrictions relaxed on Chinese gaming.

Had to order a replacement battery shell (not rechargable) because my 360 ensignia battery back seems to only be able to recharge while connected to a turned ON xbox 360. F that. I lost my original battery case. I'd rather just use real batteries than deal with that.

Tencent is the evil illuminati corporation that meets in a shadowy anime building. The biggest gaming company in the world spreading its tendrils everywhere for world domination. I wonder if people will ever hate them like EA or Activision.

I don't have the space for that! And when I look at what some boxes cost, I really can't justify trying to box up my NES collection, let alone all the other carts...

That's why a mint complete collection is impressive and cart only is not. Not only is it much more expensive. But also much harder to find mint boxes and instructions for rare games.

I'm not retarded, mine pops right out, lol. They even include a credit card sorta thing in the package, but it doesn't insert fully and when you put it down the card pops out.

Okay so as may be known I bought a bunch of Armored Core games recently. I had something new happen with one of them off eBay so I thought I'd throw up this list of everything that happened.

Armored Core 2 from @Forgotten_Freshness and perfect as stated
Armored Core 2 Another Age case damaged in transit due to bubble mailer and disc in worse than advertised shape.
Armored Core 3 side label sunfaded which was not mentioned or visible in the listing
Armored Core Nexus great, as stated, from the same seller as AC3
Armored Core Last Raven cheapest listing on eBay and seller had a blanket statement that the disc might have heavy wear. I ALMOST picked a listing that had a damaged case or another with Gamestop stickers because I was worried about the disc. Ultimately, this copy ended up being VG+.
Armored Core 4 the seller seriously just WRAPPED PAPER AROUND THE GAME CASE AND PUT A LABEL ON IT
Armored Core Verdict day from FF and perfect as stated

eBay is gambling basically. Buy from FF if you want your games as stated.

Which just proves that the lame ugly loose carts is at the very end of the spectrum. I think collecting more than you can play is just too much any way. To say that a large collection of loose carts is impressive is kind of silly.

Yes which is why if I don't think I'll ever play it, I'd rather pass it on to someone who can. I'm not big into owning stuff. So a room full of 1000s of carts. It's just too overwhelming, the thought of it. I mean if you have sealed or mint games at least that could be considered preserving history. What good is an old ugly loose cart if you aren't gonna play it.

Battery is bad. Finding a good one is a nightmare. I found a good one for a guy a while ago, a few weeks back, and it came in and worked out really well. I can try to find another if you want. Most of the ones you get from China are just garbage and NOS ones are no good.

If you'd rather just get rid of the Micro, I'm in. cool smile

Yeah I'll link you to any I think look good. The problem is you end up sending back like 4 batteries before you find a working one, but last time we ordered one we got a good battery from a new company on the first try. Took something like a month to arrive but it worked out. You just mentioned wanting to sell it, so I figured I'd throw it out there that we'd buy it.

I'll PM you the link when I figure out which battery we ordered was the good one.
