Thread Description This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.
We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates. There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room. I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them. There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.
Old Topic Description
GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is . I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).
No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Retro Posters/Ads/Brochures - I love looking through these.
Has anyone noticed pin sized see through parts of PS3 game discs where the top layer with the label has rotted away, where you can see through it if held up to the light? A lot of my PS3 games have this, has anyone experienced this and has it effected the gameplay at all. I'm hesitant to sell these on ebay because of it
Also I think one big reason its harder to make money off game reselling now is because half of the discs are damaged, carts didn't get damaged as easily. now in a lot of games from a yard sale that have been abused a lot are too scratched to sell whereas in a lot of carts 99% of games would work.
> Longer than you? Disc games are already starting to rot
So am I. :) I've read into disc rot and climate and keeping them stored in my house at room temp versus a storage center that's dark and cold and damp. Has a lot to do with it. Not saying mine will last forever, but they will last longer than me.
I found a few threads on this matter of some people saying they had ps3 discs like that that stopped working at some point in the game. This sucks, alot of them were RPGs or other $10+ games too. And these are all games gotten at different times mostly at random pawn shops, so I think this is not just a one time issue.
No I edited it, most of the games are $10+ though and I'm losing some decent games here:
Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition Twisted Metal Time and Eternity Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 Folklore Sly Cooper Thieves in Time Tales of Grace F Injustice Ultimate Edition Def Jam Rapstar Naughty Bear Persona 4 Arena Yakuza 3 Sega Genesis Collection RE Operation Raccoon City Special Edition
All those have scrapes or disc rot where the label came off in a scratch or pin prick and you can see through the disc under light, that's like half of the PS3 games in this box. Not super expensive titles but still a lot of money and good games lost.
Ah ok, I wasn't trying to minimize your loss, I was just genuinely surprised much of anything is *rare* for ps3 outside some special or collectors editions. On a side note, is resurfacing effective/approved on blurays these days? I know Kwaza usually makes note that anything dvd and earlier is something he will do and has had success with.
Scary I need to check my ps3 games. another reason I want to get a modded ps3 and rip my discs, I keep seeing things saying discs aren't going to last as long as people think. I wonder if its a symptom of the early-ish days of blu ray or whatever the tops are made out of?
one of the best cases for the emulation/modding community, preserving so many things that will be gone once discs are rotted and original hardware no longer works.

THIS. DO NOT RESURFACE BLURAYS.
Also yeah, I've literally never encountered this with a PS3 game but I'm also not accumulating PS3 games from people that treat them poorly. I'm also not shy about asking for a better looking disc if a store tries to give me a crap disc.
orly? I've never tried. If it's a short enough game maybe yeah I'd learn for this.
I'm playing pulseman on emulator, so I suppose I can go back and play ps1 game on emulator as well.
There are a few PS1 games that I've been wanting to play;
Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain Castlevania Chronicles (would have to emulate or pirate) Einhänder G-Darius Metal Gear (would have to emulate or pirate, or find a copy) Nectaris Military Madness Omega Boost RayStorm Strider 2 (would have to emulate or pirate) Thunder Force V
I was trying to figure out where in the descriptions it mentioned scratches or anything. But they just have it sitting there with out even a pic of the bottom of the disc. Idk if that's a deal or not it says acceptable condition. I wouldn't chance it unless it was Jurassic Park operation Genesis on og Xbox even then probably not.

Everything that's incomplete on Ebay has to be listed as acceptable condition. Anything listed as good or better has be complete. Tons of listings don't abide by this, but that's what Ebay will go by if a case is opened.
Here's pics of games that either need to be tested further before selling or don't work, so if you're interested in any of them let me know and I'll tell you the condition. Some of them probably work just have scratches, I'm just picky after getting that negative and haven't tested them yet.
> So...has anyone actually beaten Balloon Fight? Is it endless levels?
There are 12 unique stages, they repeat layouts afterwards. NESMania.com usually has a good goal to hit if you're trying to "beat" a game. His standards are basically you have to play up to the point the game repeats or has nothing new. Sometimes that's super easy, but it's a decent standard to apply to all games.
I see some pretty decent stuff in there JSRF for xbox is worth a few. Def Jam FFNY is also worth some on xbox its a bit more common on ps2 i think. Obviously Castvania SOTN should sell well. I am a bit interested in your Persona 3 Sleeve and artbook, maybe we could work something out.

JSRF has some scratches but probably works haven't tested it yet, Def Jam on both systems have cracks in the middle of the disc but still work, Castlevania SOTN is scratched and the music and sometimes the gameplay skips.
It's really good, and it had a lot of cool mechanics that I really enjoyed. The Graphics are what made it an above average game for me though, although again I did really like the characters and most of the level layouts. 6-2 really annoyed me at first just like in Ninja Gaiden but it's for a totally different reason. 😉
I think I like it better than the last two games that I hadn't really played before (I think we rented Mega Man X when I was younger but I wasn't into it then).

Yes, I really really like Balloon Fight. The best NES game I actually did not play in my youth, but I couldn't let it pass me by (pun intended) when it hit Virtual Console because I remember so much of President Iwata's other work so fondly.
I mostly just try to beat my high score in Balloon Trip, or in the case of the GBA version, get a high score to begin with.
Damn I was hoping to find a cheaper copy of Space Quest Collection on Ebay, but the cheapest is $12. I've only played Space Quest 1. I got to the end of the game and missed an item that's on like the very first screen of the game. It was the most Sierra crap that had ever been pulled on me.
