new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is brand:::PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

I love racing games and dont see the draw to fighting games. We all have different taste I suppose. But I've always liked real racing, rc racing, drag racing, etc, etc smiley:::smile I think I've spent more money on RC Racing than videogames.

I liked gran turismo 1 a lot, that was so hyped up and built up in all the gaming mags and stuff and was pretty big. my cousin and I used to play some nascar on ps1. other than that, the draw really hasn't been there much for me either. I think the things mentioned before about the time and grinding, my game time is limited and I have to be a little choosey at times.

Really there isn't much grind. On games like horizon 3 you can even "rent a car" so you can use your friends car if all the cars you have suck. Most games allow you to specify stock or mod, so even then you can be racing on an even playing field.

Some games a wheel is required if you want to keep up with the top players (they are using them as well). There are a few games like Dirt Rally that are almost impossible to plat without a wheel. Sure you can get around just fine and win races, but you need the wheel to shave off those precious 1/10th of seconds needed to get the top times.

What's on the table? Some things I want to play are Treasure Master, TLOZ Second Quest, maybe Devil Crash for high score. Something that takes longer than an hour this month.

You know as a kid I loved them, but now that I have to play people online it just got old getting stomped over and over. I use to play Street Fighter II all the time. Then I got hooked on Killer Instinct 2/Gold. I would ride up to the arcade just to play that game. Then I got Street Fighter IV for 360 and even with the fight controller (@Lunar now owns) I still got stomped. I gave it one more try with Mortal Kombat X but more of the same.

i can hold my own on TEKKEN til i run into someone who clearly has a lot more time to play than i do lol. ive switched to a fight stick so that's a whole new world, my online rank has fallen since but i can tell its gonna make me better with time. i'll never be as good as some of those guys online or some of these streamers that are lucky enough to play hours a day but i still like it. i got away from them for years, and recently have had that interest stirred again, thanks to T7. i got the gran turismo ps4 demo but haven't tried it yet, maybe i will soon.

I love non realistic arcade type racing games myself IF I like the actual themes or the ideas of the game that is.

Like Diddy Kong Racing over Mario Kart all day every day. Or Mario Kart at the Disneyland Starcade over maybe every other arcade racer I've Ever played. I also loved Fatal Inertia on 360 it's a lot like Star Wars episode 1 Pod Racers only worse physics and great racing plus gorgeous racetracks.

Even though some people wouldn't consider them to be racing games Crazy Taxi and The Simpsons Road Rage games are great fun racing type of games too.

I'm extremely eclectic in my gaming tastes compared to most people but about the only games I'm not totally into are super realistic racers and call of duty type of shooters. I do sometimes like fantasy type fps games but I haven't bought into all the call of duty realistic military games.

@Lunar racing games with themes you like and people you LIKE competing with are fun sometimes in ways like fighting games are fun. You almost have to be eased into it. If you start off playing a racing simulator and you're not into watching racing for fun you're probably going to hate it, I'm not as into racing as other game types so I usually have to play something with cartoony graphics or pod racers (wipeout, fatal inertia, Star Wars pod racing) to play for long periods of time and still have fun.

Also there are racing sequences in the Gta games so being proficient at racing games is important for doing well as a criminal 😊

Just play the kind of racing games you like. Some people want pure arcade like you, others want pure sims, there are ones where you can modify parts etc... Just depends what you are looking for.

Speaking of fighting games have you guys seen this auction?

https://m.gametz.com/General_Marketplace/devans77-...

There's a couple of expensive disc only Capcom ps1 fighting games with some fairly low bids still. I had no idea how much they were worth when I bid a dollar on them 😊 This auction is worth checking out guys.

Of course they are different 😊

But still both racing games. I loved race driving or hard driving in the arcade I still can't remember which one I played. But it was a driving simulator only I think you could actually go into a roller coaster type loop. That was just so much fun playing a game like that back then. And I loved the graphics even though they would be considered awful now.

There are great things about Rock & Roll Racing too though, and that makes both games worth playing since you get a very different experience from each one. I just brought it up since I remembered talking about it with you and wondered which you preferred.

Racing games, I tend to go for the non realistic types myself. F-Zero and Diddy Kong Racing are my two favorites. Crusin' USA was fun in the arcades while taking a break from fighting games but nothing too serious for me. I've tried a few but the more realistic they are, the worse I am at playing them. Did enjoy Episode 1 Racer on the PC back in the day as well but didn't care for the console version. We'll see though as I ordered Gear Club Unlimited on Switch to give these types another go.

I really enjoy games like Micro Machines and Super Off Road, so Rock n Roll racing is more of the same.

Race Driving does have that loop. I'm not sure the game can actually be beaten can it? I think its just see how far you can get before time runs out.

Nothing so far. There were suggestions of a game on SNESC. I like Treasure Master but also don't mind a SNES gsme.

About racing games: benstylus is currently into F1 and so has been playing F1 2017 lately, but I definitely like stuff like Mario Kart, F-Zero, Outrun, and Daytona over the more realistic racing games. Though in my case, the latter 2 would be just "drive along to the music until the timer runs out" games. I've never been particularly good at Outrun or Daytona, but the music makes me feel better. smiley:::smile

Bluemetal04 was able to fix my SMS. I bought it untested for 40 and he had to by one for 40 to fix it. So in the end it cost me 80 and some change. Not bad, ebay prices are nuts these days, If any of you guys got some SMS games, let me know. I got Double Dragon and Zillion, that'll keep me busy for a while.

Taking things in a slightly different direction, I have a friend who is looking to get back into playing the Game Boy, so I am assembling a brand:::Game Boy Color bundle for her to go with the small handful of games she already has. The cart connector is replacable. I had to order a replacement connector because he improved the design shortly after release (it was a penny plus shipping). So long as RetroUSB is alive I'm sure you could get one if you needed it.

maybe interested in the rock controller if you decided not to keep it, but if you want to keep the set together I get that. if the ds4 works well maybe that's what I should just do as I have an extra, I even have the ps1 gray one I could use to get a more ps1 like experience lol. ds4 is so comfortable as well.

I left neutral before I forgot how badly they fudgeed up, but yeah, power sellers and having to wait 7 days to crap talk them is kinda dumb. I think the insinuation is that within 7 days they expect the seller to properly resolve any potential points of contention, but some sellers are insatiable.

Not new though. I think it's just reserved for certain sellers; the hope is that the buyer forgets to leave feedback at all.

eBay already gives way too much time for people to never even respond, tbh. Never had an issue with a megastore that wasn't resolved though, so there is that.

Cool. Speaking of Japanese sellers. I just bought Criminal Girls for $25 shipped from a Japanese seller. From my limited experience from Japanese sellers they are very conservative with their condition estimate. Most of the Japanese described "good" condition boxes could be considered very good or like new. I'm talking about SFC listings vs. SNES listings.

Agree. Lots of Japanese sellers that do full pics and great descriptions. Just avoid the bs stock photo sellers and you'll be good.

Due to the insane increase in interest in Japanese games we are seeing the bad condition games finally come out for sale more. Back in the day just about everything I bought from Japan for Dreamcast was mint. The stuff that wasn't mint and had some sunfade or whatnot was extremely discounted in comparison.

Probably because everything from Japan is in such nice condition. The worst I ever get is a Famicom game with a name written on it or the occasional one that's been dragged through the mud. Almost every disc game is in great shape.

Compare that to the N64 section at literally any game shop, gross.
