new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

I had a CIB minty copy of Pulse Man back in like 2000, traded to @SideSwipe for god knows what. Now every once in a while, I send him a remorseful PM about it.

And like 5+ years ago, I bought a boxed copy from eBay, seller was in like Romania or Germany, it turned out to be a repro.

I got some sort of refund...don't remember how much, and have kept the repro ever since.

The cart is def repro but the box art insert...I'm 90% sure its printed, but 10% of me still hoping that is at least real.

Back then, prices weren't as inflated...relatively speaking.

It looks like people are scalping their one chip challenge chips for $50. And people are buying them. $50 for a potato chip. Makes Pulseman look reasonable.

For a normal person they are hot, hence the warning. Normally I've been trying to get a little bit hotter with things like the Indian curries I make at home BUT I like hotter curries. Different people can take different amounts of heat and different types of spices. Most Mexican salsas I prefer medium maybe a little hot depending on the pepper. But I'm recovering from some serious stomach and intestinal problems so the only bad thing I've been doing to myself is eating hot food. Usually I make it myself with packets so I can control the suffering I will go through later 😉

Also my homegirl who is Mexican American had ONE ghost pepper chip and it started burning in her sinuses. She absolutely wouldn't eat another. She couldn't believe I finished them (it took a few days) and wanted to buy another.

Just because you can eat a whole bag I still need to warn other people in case they know they will have a hard time. I ate 6 chips today in a sitting and I had to wash them down with spicy queso chips 😍 Which are also delicious. I would eat more but I have to be careful my insides will kill me if I'm not careful 😉

Also you did finish Ninja Gaiden which is a difficult game as well. And Monster in my Pocket which is easy but not too easy. That one took me like three hours and I had to play it 3 times to pass it. But yeah it was at least in one sitting.

I'm glad you're giving castlevania another chance you'll be really proud of yourself for passing it.

I beat Monster In My Pocket in about 3 hours as well, I died on the final boss on my second playthrough so had to start over but it wasn't too hard overall. Was Ninja Gaiden an actual let's play game? I got to 6-2 when I played it casually a couple of years ago, but haven't returned back to it recently.

Yeah it's an actual lets play game. It was August I think and then Castlevania was September. But 6-2 is surprisingly easy once you get the timing and patterns down. Mostly if you know exactly where things will spawn it's pretty easy to repeat. It's actually easier than 5-2 maybe ..... Maybe not.

Secretly I just wanted to see everyone else suck at it. I think we had at least 4-5 people out of the group finish the game, that was a plus

I felt like it actually had the most people getting into it. Ninja Gaiden was so much fun to play through again too.

I know I was the only one who was really excited about Monster in my Pocket but I never had it as a kid and I loved those cards and to a lesser extent the toys as well 😊

I might try to go back and play the previous games, but I've beaten castlevania recently enough that I do not care to try again. MIMP and NG are both I'd be interested in; I've never played MIMP (I'd need to buy it, get the everdrive, or emulate), and NG I beat as a kid but not since I was about 9 years old (game genie)

Okay @sharif challenge was accepted and completed! I finished the bag of ghost pepper chips (in less than 3 hours)! I will probably be suffering well into tomorrow lol. MIMP is a little expensive to buy for a 3 hour playthrough. I got one from Prime for 35 that I will sell back to him whenever he wants. I like it though. But I definitely suggest watching a video at least before you try buying a copy.

I'm probably going to play it on the Nintendo Wii U anyway because I don't feel much like either futzing with the Retron or turning benstylus' CDX into a modern art installation by sticking Pulseman and a Game Genie in it, plus trying to remember where I put that darn unlock code.

Lady and Gentlemen, start your Mega Drives (or X'Eye, Genny with Game Genie, Everdrive etc etc), i wonder who will finish first this month.

Tell me if you still like Mega Man better after you beat Pulse Man.

@DefaultGen, on a separate note, I think I am in love with NGIII's music. It's awesome of course but I think another big reason is that the music invokes a wave of nostalgia like no other, I wonder how much of NG3 I played as a kid to have this type of impact. I don't remember much of it except the familiarity of boss lighting up when hit and Ryu's big sword.

Spectrum is down in my area, my kids and wifey are asleep, I finally have the big screen TV to myself, I boot up Xbox One, load up Destiny, "You have to sign on to Xbox Live". Fudge it...let me play some....For Honor, "Critical error, the connection to Xbox Live has been lost"...

WTF, I can't play crap on XB1 without internet?

Well, you did pick two online-centric titles. Honestly THESE are the times where you should be enjoying unconnected classic systems that don't rely on internet. raspberry

Destiny I should have known. Didn't know what For Honor was about. I don't get the big TV very often!

Hmm, lets see maybe some Rare Replay..I hope i have the games downloaded already.

Basically I don't have the internet here on my phone and I just like watching Blu Rays or playing games like Tetris or Super Meat Boy on my Xbox One. They load up just fine without any connection. I can also play Mortal Kombat X offline.

But it is nice playing Mega Man X on a ps2 or almost anything else on a retron 😊 Or one of the many other random retro systems that I never played on the Internet aside from my 360 and Xbox One.

But honestly I may have NEVER had a gametz account if it wasn't for going online many years ago with my Dreamcast so I still see both online and offline gaming as very positive things.

Ended up beating Battletoads. It's a fine beat em up but why did they make them move like they got roller blades?

Yeah the controls are super sketchy and the isometric perspective makes that game way more challenging than it should be.

Controls are way worse on Xbox than on the NES, I can attest to that, there's a lag.

The levels where you were a big robot destroying a city were crazy. Post GTA3 blowing up a 3D city is every game ever, but I loved being Godzilla growing up.

Woot. Looks like I already have Pulse Man on Wii. With another 1700 points left. Gonna start a Wii Virtual Console thread, talk about the closing and what titles are worthy of downloading before the VC's closure.

Wasn't as fun as I remembered. Control is a bit slippery. I'll finish up another time. Seems pretty easy.

I was just thinking about it last night...wouldn't it be a nice follow up if Nintendo released a NES Classic Pocket Edition...

Okay seriously what day are they shutting it down on?

Also are they shutting down the Wii U VC on the same day as well? Please forgive my ignorance on this but I don't go on any other gaming sites besides Gametz and every once in a while gamefaqs.

The Pulseman rom on my everdrive would not boot, everything near it in then list worked fine and I changed some region setting in the everdrive menus but no luck. Going to have to download another one if i want tonplay it on oeiginal hardware. The same rom worked fine on my vita though, so I played through most of Japan. The controls definitely take some getting used to, and the Mario 3 style charging for your air dash and projectiles is interesting and unique, but it didn't exactly grab me as something I can't wait to get back to. I will probably play the full thing on vita rather than fudging with the everdrive, everything else I've tried on it works fine. Only probelm eith my vita is the game has some framerate and screen tearing issues, so maybe if I find time to mess with the e verdrive I'll go that route

Why? I would actually love a portable Nes Classic! Possibly even with a different lineup of games? Omg what if they let you play wireless two player with two systems?!? Or made it like the Supa Boy where you could still hook it up to the tv and plug in a couple of controllers?

This is a great idea Lunar IF they made some changes to the game lineup that is.

The other choices were NOT any better. There was only 3 actual choices and I already knew what I was getting with the other two and wanted a chance at something I would like.

There's no reason to give up if you game over.

I should have mentioned the Genesis version of Toki or Fantasia ..... But it's too late now I gotta hook up the Genesis later this weekend MAYBE even tonight but I was still hoping to screw around with MMX and the try out at least MMX 2 first.

I gave up on CV64... because it wasn't fun raspberry I'm mostly grumpy because I'm on a water stage and we're playing this game directly after such a great action platform game in MMX.

I'm usually pretty open minded but I never liked Shinobi after playing Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 I could give it a chance I mean I have access to it but I was way less forgiving as a kid if I didn't like something as much as something else I said well that's that.

It's nothing personal against you or anyone but Ninja Gaiden was just so much better than Shinobi to me. And I don't think I played shadow dancer anyways so maybe I'll check it out with an open mind.
