It's Back to Trading time!
Historically, we've found that trading slows down a bit over the summer. But once school starts up again and things settle down in people's lives, trading picks up and continues to run strong through the holiday season. Now is a good time to check your lists to make sure they are up-to-date, check your matches and make a few offers so you can make the most of it.

Posting in the Right Forum
GameTZ has a lot of forums and it can be a challenge to figure out where to post something. But, if you take a little time to read each forum's description, you can find the best way to do it.
First start with the more specific forums, so see if any of them fit what you're posting about. Is it an Import or a Box/Manual? We have specific forums for each, so you're more likely to find someone who's interested by posting there.
If it doesn't fit in a specific forum, check the less specific ones like "Console_Marketplace" or "Portable_Marketplace". If it still doesn't fit, or if you're talking about more than one thing that spans forums, we have the General and General_Marketplace forums.
Also, be sure to put discussion topics in forums marked with "_Discussion" and buy/sell/trade posts in "_Marketplace" forums.
Finally, avoid cross-posting your topic in more than one forum. This tends to annoy people who read more than one forum as they'll see your post more than once. Thus, you might get a negative reaction to this.
How to Swear at GameTZ
GameTZ has a built-in swear filter. For subscribers, it's optional (you can turn it on or off at the Subscriber Options page). Because of this flexibility, it's important for people to use the correct spelling when they type swears in messages at GameTZ. This allows the filter, on or off, to do the right thing and for everyone involved to be happy with the exchange.
So, if you choose to swear, we don't mind. Just be sure to use the correct spelling!
Offers Log Contents Changes
The Offer system has been improved. When the contents of an offer (what is being traded) are changed, the change is now logged in the offer log so you can easily see what changed.
Static URLs
GameTZ now uses URL links that appear to be static pages more often. For example, instead if having a link look like this:
http://gametz.com/?S=123456&A=Forum&topic=167840&a...
The link will now look like this:
http://gametz.com/forum/Announcements/topic/167840...
Beyond just looking better, this also allows you to use your browser's "visited link" feature in various places. Essentially, if you've clicked on a topic or user page before, the link will show up in a different color. This can be helpful if you're wondering if you have already checked someone's page or a topic.
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Forum
The Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory forum has become a main forum.
We have a lot of people playing this free multi-player game on GameTZ's server. Check out this forum for tips and tricks on how to play, local clan info, and whole lot of other discussion about ET.
GameTZ's ET server is located at et.gametz.com if you're interested in playing. Check http://et.gametz.com for information, plus check out the ET forum!
Thanks to Helen for running the Enemy Territory forum as her personal forum for many months. It had been the most popular user forum by far, so we upgraded it to a main forum.
GameTZ User of the Month
The GUM for last month (September) was videogamefan_16. Kevin has been with us for just about 1 year now. He's made a significant impact on the site in that short time. He recently earned his triple-gold star by trading with over 150 different people. Excellent ratings are the norm for him, his Offer Response Time is a mere 7.0 hours, and many of his trading partners tell stories of his wonderful generosity. Kevin is always a friendly and good-natured guy, whether chatting, posting in the forums, or fragging his fellow users on the GameTZ Enemy Territory server, where he has become a force to be reckoned with. Congrats, vgf!
This month's (October) GUM is Guru. Stephen has been a member of GTZ for almost 4 years and has completed a total of 170 trades so far. Many of these trades have been with repeat customers (51 of them), which goes to show how much users love to trade with him. He is also a favorite in the forums and chat, always fun and friendly, and often informative and helpful too. Stephen has also become one of our best reviewers. He has contributed 10 reviews in the last four months, with more coming. Congrats, Guru!
Thank you.
