Winter is Coming

No More Pend a Trade
We have finally decided to do away with the old "create a pending trade" system. It has been with the site since the beginning and has served us all well, but it's time to move on.
The Offer System has stepped up to take its place. Creating an offer, especially a pre-approved one, is very similar to pending a trade. The main difference is that it tracks a lot more of the crucial details of the trade (like who sends first, shipping method, and condition of items). Plus, it gives the other trader a final chance to check it all before it becomes a pending trade.
The Offer System will help us all make more successful trades.
You will find links throughout the site that allow you to create an offer easily. You can do it from a trader's user page, My Matches, search results, user listings, or from chat.
Address Required by Offer System
Along with now using the Offer System to pend all trades, we have also added the requirement of adding your address before you agree to an offer. If you haven't already entered your address into the Offer Settings page, you will be prompted to do so when you go to agree to an offer.
Exchanging your address with another trader is a key part of trading that needs some support by GameTZ's system. This requirement will ensure that each trader gets the address they will need in a timely fashion and also have a standard place they can go to find it (the trade or offer report).
Your address is kept private on the site and only shown to the other person you are trading with. The site administration (me, Bill Marrs, and my most trusted, 6 full moderators) also have access to trade reports and thus addresses which are shown there.
Secret Santa

Christmas is right around the corner, and that means it's time for another GameTZ Secret Santa. Sign up to join the pool of traders who will be sending gifts to each other anonymously. We're using the same setup we used for the "Christmas in July" Secret Santa which was a great success. The deadline for signing up is November 29.

GameTZ User of the Month
This month's (November) GUM is ToadReaper. Todd just celebrated his second anniversary at GameTZ, but has been quite active in that time. He has already amassed almost 400 trades, very many of them (140) with repeat customers who talk about him being one of the site's best traders. He is also a great guy to have in the forums, able to walk that thin line of being insightful, interesting, and humorous, without being offensive. Thanks, ToadReaper, for helping making GTZ a fun place to hang out, and congrats on being our latest GTZ User of the Month.
