Chat Night - Thursday Evening!

Chat can be a great place to make trades fast. Since both traders are "live", deals can be worked out very quickly. Generally, the more people that are in chat at the same time, the easier it is to make trades.

Over the years, chat usage at GameTZ has declined a bit. When I've asked people about it, I find there's still a lot of interest in it. But, people seem to need a little push. So, here's a push.

We've decided to try to get as many people as possible to come use chat at the same time. The idea is to spark new interest in chat trading. So, to make it easy for everyone, we're picking one night out of the week. Lets see how many people we can cram in there. Lets see how many trades we can make!

Therefore, I am now declaring every Thursday evening, GameTZ Chat Night. Let's say, 8-10pm EDT (5-7pm PDT).

Be there.

"Christmas in July" Secret Santa

CygnusTM is running his Secret Santa gift exchange again. Check out his forum post for all the details:

Thanks CygnusTM!

Automatic Movement of Listings

Last month the offer/trade system was enhanced to automatically move our listings when we make trades.

When you agree to an offer, the system will ask you if you want it to move the listings that are part of the offer. There will be check-boxes next to each of your listings which are checked (for moving) by default. When the offer is agreed to and the trade pended, the checked listings
(both available and wanted) are removed from your listings automatically.

Later, when the trade is completed and you mark it received, you will be asked if you want to add the items from the other trader's list to your collection (or available) list.

This should allow us all to keep our lists up to date more easily.

New Platforms

In the past month, we've added a couple new platforms to GameTZ's platform list: Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (both were recently announced at E3). If you use a platform filter and are interested in these platforms, you may want to update your filter to include them.

Pack of GUMs

There have been a number of GameTZ Users of the Month since the last newsletter. Here's a list:

January, 2005 - Y2k_UG

Scott has been at GameTZ for over 5 years. In that time, he's made a lot of friends and helped a lot of traders in various ways (including helping us track down scammers). He was a moderator for many years and still helps us on the Dispute Resolution Council.

February, 2005 - Richie

Richie has been here for over 3 years and is currently a mini-moderator. He's a fixture in GameTZ's forums. He's always around to help people out or make a quirky joke.

March, 2005 - BoB

Although BoB has been around for less than 2 years, he shines as one of the best traders on the site. He's made 230 trades with 129 people (many people have traded more than once with him). His ratings page is filled with exceptionally nice comments, check it out. BoB goes the extra yard to make all his trades go smoothly and it's appreciated.

April, 2005 - el_hefe

Mikey has been at GameTZ over 5 years. Though he hasn't managed to make even 100 trades in all that time, his presence here has had a big influence on our culture. His relentless wit and sense of humor have challenged us and kept things lively in the forums. He's currently
squandering his exceptional writing skills by helping us edit reviews.

May, 2005 - John

It's hard to write a brief statement about John given all that he's done for GameTZ over the many years he has been around. Though most of you know him from the forums where he's both helpful and righteous; he's also a great help behind the scenes. Not just as a full-moderator, but also with some deeper technical aspects of keeping the site running
smoothly. John is a great guy.

June, 2005 - Sid_Ceaser

Sid has been around GameTZ for over 5 years and has made over 400 trades with over 300 people. He's been a mini-moderator for many years as well. His kind and generous attitude is matched by his strong interest in gaming and movies. Sid holds the dubious honor of being one of the few people from GameTZ that I've actually met.

Thanks to all the recent GUMs for helping make GameTZ a great place to trade and hang out!
