We've begun the process of cleaning-up the GameTZ database. As you've probably noticed, for any given title that is listed, there are often several variations in spelling, punctuation, capitalization, etc. This causes various problem with searching and matching.
So, we're now starting to deal with the problem. Over the next days, perhaps weeks. Moderators will be doing a lot of work to merge titles that are the same into using the same name. They will try to use names that are the standard/proper names for that title. This is the first part of the project.
You may notice some of your listings change a little as their names get corrected. Once most of the names have been fixed, we will also be adding tools to make it easier to add new listings with conforming titles. Users will still be able to add non-conforming titles, but such titles will be checked and approved or merged by moderators.
These changes will be a lot of work and may cause some problems, but in the end they should make searching and matches faster and more accurate. |
