The two guys that came up with HotOrNot (and have been making some decent cash by running one of the largest dating sites on the Net) are doing something interesting -- trying to get people to vote in the presidential elections in November. To do this, they are having a drawing where the winner gets $100,000. All you have to do is be over 18 and either be registered to vote -- or plan to get registered in time for the elections!
They are also giving $100,000 to whoever refers the winner. Pretty crazy, eh? In any case, I didn't see any other threads about this -- so I thought I'd post about it -- because I would even if there wasn't a referral thing. So, these links are my referral link -- in case you care. If, for some reason, you don't want to do it via referral, you can just go to VoteOrNot.org directly. Although, I see no reason to do it that way. In any case, I just don't want this to turn into a thing where everyone posts all over looking for referrals. That really isn't the point.
The point is that you should vote on November 2nd. If you are registered, great. You should enter their drawing just because it is free and there. If you are NOT registered to vote, then you should go enter the drawing and then follow the additional links to find out what you need to do to get registered in your state. For some states, you can actually do it all online right there! They link to an excellent site to help get you registered to vote if you aren't already.
In any case, groovy drawing. Go do it. And vote on November 2nd.

Note that the deadline to register for the November elections varies by state. Here in Michigan, you have to do it 30 days beforehand -- so there is only a few days left. So -- do this now if you aren't registered -- so you can be ready to vote in November!

Kinda sneaky of you to use your referral link and not mention that you did, in fact use a referral link.
But I signed up anyway.

Sorry -- I wasn't trying to be sneaky though. If I was being sneaky, I wouldn't have mentioned the referral stuff at all. I clearly had a paragraph about it. And then I said I checked and didn't see any other threads, so I thought I'd start one. I didn't want referrals all over. If there had been another thread about it already, I wouldn't have posted this.
I also said that I would have posted it even if it wasn't a referral thing -- so I thought that also applied that this was a referral thing.
Again, not trying to be sneaky. Yes, I used my referral link to go to it, of course, but I have no evil intentions.
> But I signed up anyway.
Thanks -- I hope you win $100,000. Seriously!

Ok, I have modified my first post to make it obvious that they are referral links. Hopefully, that shouldn't matter, of course. They can sign up for the $100,000 entry without using the referral link if they want -- but they get the same $100,000 either way, so they might as well let someone else get $100,000 too!
Tell you what -- if anyone wins from using my referral link, then I will give $1,000 to everyone else that signed up using my referral link also! So, if someone else here signs up and wins -- you'll still get $1,000 from me! Little bonus for you.

Actually, you were 6th.
The first was a coworker. The second was my wife. Then there were three others from here before you that used it, but didn't post here about it. THEN you. You were simply the first to announce that you had done it...

Hey! 10 people signed up under me so far! That means I've got $10,000 to give out if any of us win. Again, if I win -- or anyone from under me wins (which means we both get $100,000), I'll give $1,000 to every person that signed up from my referral link. Granted, chances are slim -- but nice to know that we've all got at least 10 chances at getting $1,000 if one of us gets $100,000!
