This has to be the worst week ever for trading. Our beloved member Michael Van Wormer III, esquire has passed away. The chronicles of our relationship run deep in GTZ lore. The love-hate relationship has been modeled many times but never has it achieved what we have. Truly, there is a deep bond. Today I was talking with him on the phone, shooting the breeze like normal. He was driving into work this afternoon when while we were talking. Suddenly I hear his yell, screeching of tires and a horrific crash. I yell "MIKE! MIKE! ARE YOU THERE!" My coworkers looked at me wondering what is going on. I hear him breathing hard. He dropped his phone apparently and wasn't in the state of mind to find it. I hear him quietly praying "Please dear God, not like this. Not like this" I hear a death rattle in his voice as he coughs. I am in tears. I keep my cell phone on as I dial 911 from my desk phone to patch into Belding MI PD. He died at 2:32 central time.
RIP Dyne. I know you are up in heaven now with thousands of pairs of binoculars, giving you every magnification you may ever need. |

I just can't take this. It's too much loss in one week for me to handle. Though Dyne and I may not have seen eye to eye on a number of things, I still respected him as a person and a stellar game-trader. He may have been the brunt of a number of jokes, but it was all out of respect for his sense of moral character -- and perhaps some jealousy. He was an upstanding game-trader who loved his binoculars, Weird Al, and obsessing over women on the Internet and in real life.
To think he was so close to achieving 1000 trades -- no longer can he achieve such a monumental recognition. Regardless, he's still a 1000+ trader in my heart and he will be sorely missed.
First Mackey and now Dyne. This is a dark week for GameTZ and its staple game-trading characters. RIP Dyne and Mackey -- you are now forever in that subscription-free place we call heaven. |

Dude owes me $100 (excluding interest), but it's hard to be upset with a man that's just died. Mike had perhaps my favorite name ever and has been a staple of the GameTZ community for as long as I remember. I remember the binocular incident vividly; I was a just a lurker in those days but was at least present to witness one of GameTZ's greatest events. I loved watching Dyne mature from the butt of the joke during the binocular days to quite the comic himself as Mackey's (RIP) protege.
Two huge losses in as many days. When it rains, it pours.
RIP

Faking a GameTZ member's death only belittles the real untimely death of others, like mistero. |

Now think about it logically -- how could he have signed on to his page this morning if he DIED yesterday? I know it's hard, just let it go, child. Let it go...

i bet heaven has the biggest binoculars you have ever seen |
Chad
| | #38 posted April 9, 2008 at 5:53pm (EST) |
Heaven surely has the biggest, and the smallest and everything in between. Whatever size he needs, they have. If he is needing to watch Molly Holly or Angelina Jolie, he pulls out his high powered ones to get all the detail. To watch the bird in the distance, he pulls out his midrange pair that has always suited him well. For closer objects such as the license plate of the black guy that broke into his apartment, he uses a lower powered pair so he can see it all in one view.
RIP VDub, you are now where binoculars, Jeff Hardy videos and XM Radios are always in abundance. |
