Anyone try this before? Your experiences?
I'm in fair shape, and will be giving this a try (coming in the mail in 1-2 weeks). Yes yes...exercise and diet are what get you there..but..I'm rather intrigued by this.

I'll be doing P90X this summer, my brother said it pushed him to the limit when he did it at football. I'd do some jogging to get ready for it. |

Yeah, you need to be in pretty darn good shape before you try P90X. It's not for fatties, it's for those who have hit a plateau in their routine and want something to shock their bodies into growth, etc. I have a friend who did it with his dad, and while my friend quit about halfway through, his dad is on his second or third run-through of the program. The results aren't as dramatic as the infomercials portray them, but it has made a rather large improvement in my friend's dad. The friend actually showed results even only halfway through the program. I intend to get this someday, as well.

I laughed when you said fatties.

i hope you arent planning on paying 100+ for it.... talk to me if you want it
Each workout is different, Ab Ripper X is 17 min, while the core synergistics is around an hour. It all depends on what workout you're doing, most are less than an hour.
I bought a yoga mat, and 5lb dumbells, and thats all i use for now. The mat really helps because i dont like rubbing against the carpet (giggity).
EDIT: I dont use the food planner, as i only have the dvd workout videos.

Yeah..I already paid the $100 (shipped) for a sealed package for everything...
What kind of resistant bands do you use if any? pushup bars? pull up bars? etc |

1. Get assorted weight dumbbells. A friend and I are splitting the cost for a new set.
2. Pull ups will get you in shape for this, and improve your throwing strength.
3. You don't need a push-up bar. Grip a 2x4 or your dumbbells or get a perfect pushup.
Just don't wimp out on it. It is continuous. |

I'm planning this program for 180 days, not 90 days myself |
Bubbler28
| | #18 posted May 6, 2008 at 10:06pm (EDT) |
Just remember to stop drinking and eating:
-Soda
-Sugary Baked Goods
-Candy
-Alcohol
I've given that stuff up. After about a month, if you're not doing this already, you'll get lean, not to be misinterpreted as skinny. |
Suikoden
| | #19 posted May 6, 2008 at 10:10pm (EDT) |
The last 3 is not a problem, but I'm obsessed with DIET Pepsi...0 calories but obviously ain't healthy...do I cut this out too? lol |
Bubbler28
| | #20 posted May 6, 2008 at 10:11pm (EDT) |
If you want to be leaner, yes. I think you're good though if you're fit. Just don't be like my parents and drink three a day or anything. I'm not sure if you'll want a diet pepsi whenever you do any kind of extreme workout program, though. |
Suikoden
| | #21 posted May 6, 2008 at 10:14pm (EDT) |
I'm pumped. It'll still be a week or two tops till I get it though. There goes my diet drinks too I guess, pure water.. |

Milk? |
Suikoden
| | #23 posted May 6, 2008 at 10:17pm (EDT) |
Milk is a breakfast thing...even with protein powder I mix with water.. |
FrankCostanza
| | #24 posted May 7, 2008 at 7:23am (EDT) |
I don't think Diet Pepsi will hold you back physically (passing on it won't technically make you leaner as said above) but if you're doing intense workouts, a lot of it will make you feel bloated as fudge and you'll probably get constipated once in awhile. |
Kanes_Son
| | #25 posted May 7, 2008 at 11:24pm (EDT) |
Obviously nothing is better to drink than just water, because your body still has to filter out all the crap that is in the soda.... which wastes energy and body resources and whatnot. |

MILK IS BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...but you can wash the milk down with some water if you feel so inclined.

P90X is a waste of $100. Its cardio mixed with weight training. Its nothing you couldnt do in the gym sans the cost. You basically jump around like an butt-hole, do some martial arts-type (i say type because youre not actually learning martial arts) moves, yoga, and throw in 350 situps every few days.
Yes, I actually have, and have tried P90X for the full 90 days. While it does work to varying degrees, you dot need a $100 package to teach you that doing cardio/weight training 6 days a week plus dieting for 90 days will get you in shape.
The same guy who hocks P90X in the infomercial pushes about 6 other "revolutionary workout systems." |

Its a cheap alternative to those who dont want gym member ships, assuming the avg price for one is 30-40/mo, youd be saving some money.
Of course if u wanted to lose weight, be smart about it, eat healthy, excercise regularly, etc. Some people prolly feel more at ease if they bought something that gave them guidelines and helped them along the way.

I don't think P90X is something you would get the full benefit out of if you just jumped right in at a median fitness level. |

I'm pretty fit, but say someone does this that is weak...so they do it once and repeat and keep at it, simple
Bottomline is they are improving their lifestyle
I am doing this because I am looking for a change |
