If you're not 17, you shouldn't own the game.

If your parents restrict you from playing it, respect their wishes. They have their reasons, I'm sure.

You need to rethink your priorities if you think your parents are dicks over something as trivial as a videogame. |

Some games' purposes can only be expressed under a mature rating. Would Bioshock be as fun if it surrendered to a teen rating? Yes, but not as near as much. There is joy in the brutality of rapture, it's something that I feel just couldn't be expressed in a teen rated game. |

You're a 14 yr old boy, that's who you are!
Most M rated games arent anything to worry about imo. Atleast for most teenagers. |

I like to say I'm beyond shooting up my school because of videogames. If anything, we had a dialog with bioshock at lunch for almost 3 weeks. I'm not going to saw my cat in half because gears of war glorified chainsaws, either. I promise. |

Would Bioshock be as fun as a Teen game? Yes, but not as much fun.

BAD!
Ever heard the term "slippery slope" ? Today they're just trying to ban the sale of these games to minors. Five years from now, it could be banning them altogether. Once something like this gets rolling, its hard to tell when it will stop. Laws like those proposed to keep M rated games out of the hands of children are putting the responsibility on the industry when it should be the parent's job to keep track. If that onus is on the developers and retailers then it becomes their fault when something goes wrong. People will scapegoat the creators of the content, never questioning whether or not mommy and daddy should have stopped little Billy from playing Manhunt . |

This is bullcrap and you know it.
Porn is not allowed to be sold to minors. Today the porn industry is bigger (oh it's a pun too) than ever.
Alcohol and cigarettes are not allowed to be sold to minors - yet there are lots of folks who drink and smoke.

And the parents job would be made easier if they don't have to worry about retailers selling M-rated games to their kids.

Welcome to planet Earth - this has already happened... "concerned parents" and other groups are already blaming the creators and retailers.

Understand that if something is being scapegoated, there's usually at least some shred of truth to the allegations being made.
If you take away that shred of truth (if, for example, retailers were 100% effective in carding people before selling M rated games) then parents' ability to scapegoat disappears, and you force the responsibility back on them.
