Michelle Duggar Pregnant With Baby No. 18
May 9, 2008 6:26 p.m. EST
Jan Westmark - Celebrity News Service
New York, NY (CNS) - The Duggar's, the Arkansas family with 17 children, appeared on the "Today" show Friday with a special Mother's Day announcement. Wife and mother, Michelle, is expecting baby No. 18.
Having welcomed her 17th child into the world last August, Michelle, 41, is due with the her 18th baby on New Year's Day. She made the announcement on the television show, much to the surprise of her children. Although the children seemed surprised, they also seemed happy.
All of the children have names that start with the letter J, and Michelle confirmed on "Today" that the new baby's name would also. Michelle and her husband Jim Bob already have seven girls and 10 boys (including two sets of twins). Their oldest child is Joshua, 20, and in descending order of ages they have: John David, Janna, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah, Joy-Anna, Jedidiah, Jeremiah, Jason, James, Justin, Jackson and Johannah.

as long as they can take care of em, more power to them.
but 18 kids is a lot of welfare if they go that route...
Want Wii Sports? Sick of it being overpriced?

You must buy a gift for your sibling's birthday party for 17 times a year. That's a lot of gift-buying |

I'd take that bet in a second actually. The Duggars have proven to be very well organized and educated.
We're not talking about some Section-8-welfare-for-life situation that just keeps rolling out new puppies every year.
They are homeschooled, but my guess is that they would have no problem passing a GED or any other test to prove educational skills well beyond the average high school graduate.
Now, don't get me wrong, I think that they are a bit of freaks -- but they do appear to take care of themselves, be self supporting, and have well educated children so far. So, I don't think that they are going to fall into the category that you're suggesting.

Absolutely ridiculous.
There is really no reason at all that people should be having more then two children nowadays. Its their fault that we are going to run out of resources quicker, Earth is already far past its carrying capacity. |

I enjoyed watching them on Discovery Health, but yeah the kids are kind of creepy.
All the boys look like the same person, just in different stages of life, as does the girls. That in itself is fudging creepy.
The kids seem very well behaved and extremely smart. The parents are pretty smart too, they make a lot of money and don't have 9-5 jobs.

What do you mean by "puritans"? From a religious standpoint or something else? I can find no reference that says that the Duggar family are "puritans."
They are Quiverfull believers, from what I recall. And, I think, Baptist by faith. I've never heard them referred to as "puritans" -- so I was just curious what you meant.

They live as though they were puritans, even if they are baptist. But that could probably be because there's too many kids to go out and buy things all the time, so they make their own stuff. Hell they even built their own house. (All the kids helped, I saw that one.)

Where? I searched around and all references to the 18th baby said that it was announced on that show on May 9th.
Yahoo News even has a small mention of them on May 2nd as being "Honorary Duck Masters" as some stupid event -- it mentions their 17 children with no mention of an upcoming 18th.
Such a liar, Chad.

They did that to save cash -- I'm not sure it makes them Puritans.
Heck, both the mom and dad made most of their money as real estate agents and in other real estate deals, I think. Seems a far step from living a "Puritan" life. heh.
Whatever. They are baptists that believe in Quiverfull. *shrug*

.... oh fudge. It wasn't supposed to be known until tomorrow. The mythology states that when someone knows before the proper time there will be an increase in unpredictable weather patterns and natural disasters.

Yup. I don't read that page though. I can't remember where I heard it. Either the Today show or it was the Duggars show on the Discovery Channel. They both are supposed to be very successful realtor's, have no debt, and pretty well off. Well, yeah I'd say, if they have more deals like their tax free home going on. It has too be legal though. The media is so far up in their crap they probably could count the polyps in JimBob's poop shoot. |
