I feel a lot more accomplished when the processing and print came out the way they're supposed to, too. Like, you really made it happens!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I used to really suck at processing and printing film, but now that I've gotten the hang of it, I feel that the gratification of correctly printing film is way more awesome the digital prints.

Well, given that your digital weighs more than twice as much as your film, you definitely should find out how much weight your tripod can safely hold. I've got two tripods myself, though the larger of them needs to be fixed.
