though for me this goes for pretty much all the new "music" that's on the radio now. The only good rap was the original.

It's not a dance and rap is not real music, it's a shame that blacks can talk into a microphone with synthetic music and make millions. Then every black kid in America thinks he can be a rapper so they drop out of school and rob people.

There is plenty of good rap out now. You just have to look for it, it won't come to you.

as far as I know, the really good 'now' rap has come out in the past 5 years. Granted, I dig the whole 'garage' scene (The Streets, Lady Sovereign), and 'intellectual' rap (basically anything that doesn't talk about 'the hood', like the bigger picture). Stuff like Nas' 'One Mic' is what I'm after.
Enlighten me? |

ummm, wtf? If I want to be a rapper and make money why would I drop out of school to rob people? Wouldnt that make me want to be a robber?
Anyways, i was going to say that in the past decade black people have enjoyed a certain type of music, and I'm sure everyone has noticed it. It's simple, black people like songs that tell them what to do. If you put all the songs together its an easy trend to see. Examples:
Crank Dat Soulja Boy (and all its variants, Crank Dat Batman, Spiderman, Spongebob, etc etc)
Cupid Shuffle
Cha Cha Slide
Josephine Johnny
Rack Daddy
Get Silly
Everyone likes to have their own dance to their song, and black people like doing it. Sure the music might be stupid, but these people are one hit wonders, so who cares. They made the music so that everyone can dance to it and have fun. You dont have to like the music and you can have your own opinion about it, but music is art, and just like some people dont like some pieces of art, some people dont like their music (like me). |

Your headed in the right direction. People like Nas and One Mic are disgusted with Soulja Boy making millions with his crap and I doubt they will ever be on a song together. Those are the people you want to listen to if you want to hear some true rap, and not this garbage thats on the radio. Also, dont listen to anyone saying Lil' Wayne is the truth or he's good. If anyone says that to you, shoot them in the chest, and shoot them one more time in the head as to make sure they are dead |

You would drop out of school and realize you are dumb and can't get a job as a rapper, so you start to rob people.

To be honest, what Soulja Boy does is hip hop. Its not considered real hiphop today but what is REAL? thats a subjective question.
anywho, i do agree with the Lil Wayne statement, becuase he is hot garbage, hes crying on the mic, he has a few good lines here and there.. but other than that, hes not that good.

True, Hip Hop was originally meant to be a song whose sole purpose was to get everyone "crunk" and dance, so by defenition, it is hip hop (but I still wont consider it good music)

Yea, I mostly dont like him because he's what I like to call scatterbrain. He just chains random metaphors and events together when he raps. He never ever talks about one central theme in his songs, and hes just trying to make it by on those metaphors. he has clever wordplay sometimes, I give him that. |
