So my PC doesn't have a keyboard or mouse. Can I get a replacement (universal?) adapter? Anyone want to recommend a cheaper alternative? Maybe with a usb adapter that doesn't have a cord but is more like a thumb drive? |

If your computer supports Bluetooth, you can always get a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse. No wires FTW! And no adapters to chew through either!
Or, you can always get a wireless keyboard/mouse; though with that, there'd still be an adapter of some sort hrm...in that case, I recommend building a suitable fort around it.
Are your cats still pretty young? My cat used to love to chew on things (chewed through my Wii Sensor Bar wire ) but when she got older, she outgrew the chewing habit. |

Chew through the cat's tail to show to teach it not to chew. |

The first thing they ever chewed through was my Wii sensor bar cord. I've found some half chewed speaker cord and now this. They are almost 2 years old now and they only do it when we're not around.
No bluetooth on the 'ol PC, I may have to get a new keyboard/mouse. |

My cat (3 years old) still chews on anything plastic, or with a sharp edge. I decided to trick her one day by putting super Mike Ditka hot sauce over the most common area she chews on. The little bugger went nuts and now she attacks me when I go to put Mike Ditka hot sauce on my food, she loves the stuff. FAILED.

Get one of the Logitech keyboard/mice with the Unifying Receivers if you're concerned about a big receiver/cable getting destroyed. They run a premium price, but the receiver is supposed to work with up to 6 devices (but they have to be compatible with it. Check Logitech's site for compatible devices)

You can try some of the sour green apple spray and spray it on your wires to keep your cats from getting to it. Most cats tend to not like those sour stuff. Or, get more toys to occupy them when you guys aren't around? |

Just get a bluetooth dongle and matching peripherals |

HA! I managed to splice together the 4 individual wires inside and get this thing working again. It is very touchy but I have a working keyboard/mouse...for now.
I'd still like to find a keyboard/mouse combo like the unifying receiver that RagingShadow recommended...but without the price tag. |

Here's a pet friendly way to stop cats and kitten from chewing on wires.
First you will need a few items such as a old lamp, wire cutters, electrical tape, and a cat/kitten that's been bad.
Next cut the lamps wire at the base and you should have a few feet of wire to work with.
Next wrap the end with electrical tape and make sure you curl it so it kind of forms a ball.
Next place the wire in front of your electronics (or usual chewing spot) and wait for it to come by and start chewing.
When the cat/kitten does begin to chew, scold it immediately, and after a while your cat should have had its go at a cheap wire and learned it lesson.
Finally if said cat still chews on said wire(s) with no intention to quit merely plug the lamp wire into a live current and let it chew away (you might need a extension cable to put it in the regular chewing spot) , this will not only seriously mame or injure your little furry friend but teach it a lesson he or she will never forget.
