i am trying to charge my ipod touch, when i plug it in instead of the normal charging icon where the battery thing is on the ipod i get a usb cable shaped icon, and my ipod isn't charging even when i plug it in all night. the computer and itunes are recognizing that the ipod is there and its operating normally other than that. anyone have any idea what's up with this?

Make sure you have the ipod driver installed. Some of my electronics won't charge via USB until I install the driver. In the case of the ipod, there is no driver download.
Uninstall itunes and reinstall itunes...Should fix it. |

Did you do that annoying thing where you have to hold down the on button and the circle button at the same time and then tap the on bottom again? |

I tried everything you guys said, and everything online, but it still won't charge even when I leave it in the computer or wall charger for hours.
So I took it to BB since I have the replacement warranty there, they verified the problem and I got a free upgrade to the 32gb 3rd gen touch because they don't make 16gb 2nd gen anymore!

Look at the Ipod in the picture its charging and its not even plugged in.
