Hey so i got a question/problem. I recently bought a 2nd xbox off of craigslist for the extra HD/controllers and want to sell it after i transfer my data onto the new HD. However the harddrive i bought )(60 gig) has like 10-12 arcade games from the original owner that i would like to keep somehow if possible. However when i tried using the disk it said all info all the new Harddrive will be erased. So my question/dilema is, is there a way to transfer xbox 360 arcade games from one console to another or transfer their downloadable rights to my system? So that in the end i can transfer my 20 gb hd content to the 60 gb harddrive, and still keep all my arcade games as well as the arcade games that came with the other xbox? I hope i explained that good enough, any questions just ask

Did the person sell you there account details as well? Otherwise they can just recover it on another console and you would no longer be able to play them.

XBLA is linked to the tag not the box.

If you transfer the data you will loose all data on the 60GB. No way around it with the Microsoft kit. Other kits you may be able to but still if you don't have the account details the owner can always recover it on another console.

Actually anything downloaded from the xbox marketplace is linked to the account and xbox. This means if the title (original purchase) for the download is on one xbox you don't need to be signed into the specific account linked to it. But say he would transfer the titles to another box, then the purchasing account would have to be logged in to live to access the content. Just to clarify if it was bought, but I am assuming he got them preloaded (because my 60gb did have a few things preloaded) you might be able to transfer them onto a xbox memory card, do the transfer, then move them back over to the 60gb xbox.

He would still have to grab the account then as well and they are more linked to the tag than the box. 12 XBLA and an account I don't think will fit on a memory card. Would he have to transfer them each to the 20 GB HDD then use the transfer kit to the 60GB? He would have to recover the account to the 20GB HDD I don't think profiles can be moved [as in recovered] with a memory card. I could be wrong but I would test it first. Move the profile then one of the XBLA you don't own and try to play it.

The original purchasing license is registered to the box but can be transferred so long as the account is signed in to another box. If the account is recovered onto another console the original console will no longer have the license. Some of the older titles have like a lingering license and me and my friends have been able to play them while the main account were not signed in. It's hit and miss some times. As soon as you initiate a license transfer though they will be entirely removed.

I know with my account history the first RROD box I lost all my license until I bugged the hell out of support to give me the full licenses back so I could play my games offline. Still have an issue with that today and I used my annual license transfer already and it didn't help any. Some of the Sega games still screw up and I have to "unlock" them every time I want to play Sonic or Gold Axe.

Their license issues are still a pain in the ass...there are still bugs that they refuse to work out.

Some of them are from microsoft and are locked to the xbox (You can't re-download these when they are gone they are gone, but the memory card trick is the best option I can think of for these).

All's he has to do is first transfer the account over to the 20GB HDD using a memory card if he doesn't have the account info. It's a 60GB so I'm guessing he doesn't have any old downloads that could have bugged licenses.

License transfer is easy to do now (Can only do it once a year thought per account), all's you have to do is log in to the xbox site and search help for liscense transfer (Only if he has the account info, also needs to be able to log in and out of the account on the xbox he wants the licenses transfered to).

It is easy to do but he needs that account info. So long as the account info is held by someone else they can take it away at any time.

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox36... is the link for the license transfer after you get it to the 60GB HDD.
