I want to buy a low cost pc. I am interested in surfing the net and running itunes on it as well as watching the occasional flick on the plane. My primary concerns outside of the ability to do the above are (in order):
Appearence
Weight
Battery life
Price
Matte Screen
keyboard, double button mouse pad
screen size.
Im planning to upgrade a netbook to 2gb and get something that is extremely light and thin and cool looking. Probably spend ~$400-450
I WANT SOMETHING UNDER 4 and pref 3 pounds. 10-12 inch screen

Anyon know of anything baddass or anything coming up that looks xtra hawt? Sort of considering waiting and seeing what the "slate" looks like, but thatll probably be 600$ or not exactly what Im looking for. Anyways interested to hear if you cats know of something I should check out. I want something that looks cool, Im willing to pay ~$100 extra for style. Just to be clear this is for use as a second pc. I plan to keep it in my living room and use it on trips.

Most netbooks don't come with a dvd drive, you'd need an external. I won't say all don't, but the majority do not. I'm sure you knew that, just popped into my head when you said movies on the plane.

yeah Im aware, but with many movies available for download and my super big desire to have something small, its a trade off Im willing to make - sure I wish a 3 pound 300-400$ laptop that was sexy and had a dvd burner existed, but it just doesnt. im willing to sacrifice the drive for something cool and small. if needed Ill just grab an external drive down the road.

I've got a dark metallic blue Acer AspireOne with Windows XP Pro, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Intel Atom processor, and about an 8" screen. Cost me $400 CAD approximately, but it's a little powerhouse. I've got it smoothly running Adobe's CS4 and Blender (as well as much more), and the performance is great. Battery life is about 4 hours and they only weigh a few pounds. Screen is low gloss, and I've found no problems with heavy reflection. Best money I've spent in quite some time. Also, USB flash drives compensate massively for CD/DVD abilities.
