I've always preferred slashers over most horror genres, and I assume we're talking straight horror and not like comedy or torture porn, right?I've always been a huge Friday the 13th fan. I love me some Jason Lives. The original Nightmare on Elm Street is still the greatest and only one worth watching. The Thing, The Exorcist and The Shining are epic, if those count. I'm pretty sure almost every Halloween film of the original series were all great (with the exception of 3, and Rob's don't count). Is American Psycho horror? The first 3 Child's Play movies were up there too. I pretty much thought the whole TCM series was garbage with the exception of the first remake, and the unreleased/unedited/uncut TCM3 Leatherface film. Never understoof why people thought the original or the 2nd were any good. Part 4 was definitely crap.   The Dragonlord revealed his true self! Command? | |

Just a fan of the genre overall. If i read that a new one has come out thats good, ill usually give it a watch, but usually at home because all my friends are pussies and are not fans. | |

Funny yet classic horror feel. Wrong Turn .... Just to entertaining to turn down for me. Friday the 13th (All of them) .... My personall favorite unkillable serial killer. Pulse .... One of the only Ghost movies that affects the world instead of a small isolated group. Dead Alive ... Brutal Bloody Brutal.... Brutal .... lol CHUD .... 80's classic Horror Texas Chainsaw (Remake) ... Love the new style they took with it. | |

Japanese movies tend to have some pretty good ideas but they always either trail off into weirdsville, or spend too much time delving too deep into crap that doesn't matter. She is such a horrible actress, she ruined it for me. I am definitely a fan of Japanese horror though, especially the story lines and imagery. I don't know, maybe you could put it under the thriller genre instead. bonham2 | #19 posted December 24, 2012 at 12:37am (EDT) I'm more of a realistic horror fan. I'm not really into the supernatural stuff (although I do love a good zombie or vampire more). My all-time favorite horror is Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I also love Halloween since they didn't make him unkillable until later installments. Some of my other favorites include High Tension, 28 Days Later, and The Last House on the Left.

The original was just so unnerving, especially when she's sitting in the dining room screaming her head off and they're showing close-ups of her eyeball. I'm a big Friday the 13th fan, but they're more entertaining than scary to me. I saw Sinister in the theater and thought it was absolutely great. I rarely buy movies, but will probably pick that up when it comes out. The only thing that scared me when I was a kid (and I watched dozens of horror movies when I was younger) was Child's Play. I always expected Chucky to come out from my closet or under my bed and kill me. | |

Anyone can take someone else's idea and do it better years later. 1. The Exorcist (1973) - saw this when I was 12 or so. woke up screaming that night. scared the fudge out of me, needless to say. 2. Night of the Living Dead (1968) - just can't have a list without the film that started the whole zombie craze. 3. Psycho (1960) - Probably Hitchcock's finest film, especially considering when this was made it. 4. Jaws (1975) - Taught an entire generation(s) to fear the water. 5. The Ring (2002) - Holy crap this movie scared the bejesus out of me. That chick was just CREEPY as hell. 6. The Shining (1980) - Heeeere's JOHNNY! Who can forget this classic? No one who saw it, that's for sure. 7. A Nightmare on Elmstreet 3 Dream Warriors (1987) - perfected the ANoES formula and the whole kids fighting back thing was great not to mention a KICK ASS Dokken theme song. 8. Evil Dead II (1987) - ok this is a remake, lol, but it's just Raimi perfecting his own film. 9. 28 Days Later (2002) - a fresh take on "zombies" and a good emphasis on the psychology of survival. Read the comics too, they bridge between this and 28 Weeks. 10. Scream (1996) - Genuine horror mixed with all kinds of in-jokes and horror references, who could not love this? | |

The Shining: Other than his wife...this one stands the test of time...brilliant 3. Night of the Living Dead: the original and the best. 4. 28 Days Later: like virtua said: great fresh take on zombies...very creepy 5. Insidious: normally these kind of movies and demonic possession movies are a total joke to me...but this one left me disturbed. | |
