| RockoMan | #1 posted March 5, 2013 at 9:53am (EDT) edited March 5, 2013 at 7:11pm (EDT) For the past few weeks I've been getting work on a sleeve tattoo on my right arm. The entire thing is video game related. So far I have Link, Ness, Pikachu, a moogle, Sabin (FFVI), Mario, Yoshi and Mega Man, along with a few Mario stars, flowers, etc. In about a month it will be time to start the background. Anybody have any suggestions what to use? I've been thinking about a Mario 3 type of background or just go with the typical night/day light/dark that a lot of people seem to have. Any ideas? http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c123/cutmerock/8... http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c123/cutmerock/8... http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c123/cutmerock/8... http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c123/cutmerock/8... | |

Well since they're barely relevant now, I don't think that will matter too much. Remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."

| RockoMan | #15 posted March 5, 2013 at 9:52pm (EDT) It's only the outline. It will look better when it's colored. | |
| cesar93 | #16 posted March 5, 2013 at 10:21pm (EDT) I would suggest a sky background ya know? blue sky white clouds, I think that would fit without taking much away from the characters. I have to say your tat looks pretty clean man, congrats. | |
| RockoMan | #17 posted March 5, 2013 at 10:31pm (EDT) I was thinking of the blue Mario background with the clouds. | |

Have you ever had a tattoo? LOL That's a lot of pain for that background!
| Villest1 | #19 posted March 5, 2013 at 10:41pm (EDT) Awesome tats. How much is it all running you? | |
| bohyu | #20 posted March 5, 2013 at 10:42pm (EDT) Looks like a Super Smash Bros. tattoo, could do a collage of different backgrounds and blend them in together without making it look like crap. It would require a bit of technique with the blending but I'm a little apprehensive since the lineart is pretty shoddy, (I hope that it's going to be fixed) Are you doing your own tattoo? | |

I know the staff and the owner of the shop. I bring them business so the are giving me a deal. Most shops charge about $100 an hour and I'm already 4 hours into it.

I was thinking that a lot of my characters are form Smash Bros but then I also have a Moogle, Mega Man and Sabin in there. My son's name is Sabin btw.

| bonham2 | #27 posted March 6, 2013 at 8:32am (EDT) Can I see a picture of your Zelda triforce tatoo? I'll admit, I have always wanted a Zelda tatoo, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm a married man with 4 kids and a career. I can't really walk around with a video game tatoo on my body.

| ZombieUnionRep | #30 posted March 6, 2013 at 2:50pm (EDT) What style are you going to get your final ink (coloring) done in? American Traditional, New Skool, or somewhere between Pin-up and Portrait? Looking at the depth of the outlines they have the aesthetic of AT. All in all, if you are happy with your new ink then that is awesome! I know that some people have commented on it not being such a great idea having game related tattoos, could you explain the reason behind getting the characters you chose and why a full sleeve? Maybe that will help those who can't understand. Of course that's just mho. Can't wait to see what the final outcome looks like. :) | |

I've always wanted to get a sleeve and I never wanted to get a "random" tattoo. A few of my friends have skulls, or barb wire wrapped around their arm and I liked they way it looked, but it just didn't mean anything. I grew up playing these games. My son is named Sabin. I am majoring in Computer Programming so having a full sleeve isn't much of an issue anymore. These remind me of being a kid and even as an adult it's still something I love to do. No matter how old I get, I will always enjoy gaming. I kept it mostly "old school" because it's the generation I have the earliest memories playing.

I think if you're happy with them and they are not going to affect your future employment, do whatever you want. I kind of wanted to get a tattoo that's a play off of the generic gun and rose, but the gun would be a Nintendo Zapper and the rose would be a Piranha Plant. I've posted this before, but something similar to this... ![]()
