They start out at $159 on Amazon, so I'd say you're not even in the ball park. This has a brand new battery, brand new data transfer cable, brand new wall charger... so I'm looking around $200. Sorry.

No offense, but you're looking for WAY too much. You do realize that the new 80GB iPod Classics sell in the stores for $239. You can score new ones on eBay for under $200, if you don't mind going that route. Honestly, I think a more realistic asking price is around $120 at the most, assuming it is a 5.5 generation iPod Video and inclues the box and paperwork and whatnot. The 5.5 gen's in excellent condition sell for $100-140, with the average price being around the $120 shipped range. Extra accessories unfortunately don't jack up the selling price

Not that I'm at all interested as I have a Touch. I just thought I'd let you know so you're not selling this for all eternity at your ridiculous asking price.

#11 posted May 25, 2008 at 6:13pm (EDT)

Current prices on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-al...

Starting at the lowest $150, $159, white one for $100, $183... so my estimate of $200 value wise isn't all that far off since most of those don't include any accessories at all...

Extra accessories... let me see, a wall charger... hmmmm, have to have that... a data transfer cable... hmmmm have to have that too, and a new battery so it works... yep... have to have that too... which all 3 of those put together cost me close to $100... now I can keep all those accessories, and you all can fork over your $100 on top of that $120 price which hmmmm surprisingly makes it over $200...

So an offer of $60 is a tad bit low, even by your $120 estimate. besides, I am more than willing to offset the price by trading heavily towards it... which was why I was looking for a psp...which current value is around $120 for the phat versions, and may even still do so even though I have a psp pending because my daughter wants one as well.

As for Ebay:

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&...

BIN one for $120 doesn't include charger/cable or anything else with it, plus $10 shipping,
this one is up to $137.50 and only includes a usb cord which may or may not be for transfers, or for charging and not ended yet
this one is BIN $149.99 plus $10 shipping making it over $150
BIN $200
BIN $250 w/extras

So although my value of $200 shipped may be a tad bit high, it is not unreasonable, since I can lower my estimate easier than I can raise my asking price. It allows me room to haggle whereas a set amount gets me nowhere, besides, I don't have to feed it so it's not costing me a thing sitting on my desk.

Not with the $120. Maybe if you subtract money for the games. I'm pushing it for myself saying I'd pay $120. I could maybe give you the games + $60, or if you want the games you could buy them from me. *smile*

A tip with pricing via eBay: Check COMPLETED auctions. Just because the price of something is set at $150 (or whatever), it doesn't mean it'll sell at that price. In order to find accurate pricing, you need to know how much things actually sell for. The same goes for Amazon. They may be priced at a certain price point, but that doesn't mean that they're selling at that price point.

At $200, someone would have to be an idiot to pick up and outdated, previous generation iPod Video with less than half of the memory and none of the features of the more recent Classics, which can be purchased for around that same price. No offense.

#18 posted May 26, 2008 at 2:32pm (EDT)

And did I ever say I wanted $200 for it?? No, I said I was looking at around that price for value based on the current prices on Amazon and Ebay.. I also said MAKE OFFER. If you will notice... those things are going for over $300 NEW making a used one worth at least $150... so get off my back and quit thread crapping atomheartmother.. don't you NEW PEOPLE bother to read the rules?

I take it you also didn't notice the Ebay one for $137.50 that still had 3 hours left to go?? Wonder how much it finally did end up at... bet it was closer to $150 than $120 since it was already over that amount... and people wait to the last minute to bid.

$60 isn't even near a fair offer. $120 is an offer which is considerably better but I'm not prepared to sell for at this time since I may possibly have a better offer come along for me. I posted the links so Frank can possibly find himself a deal, I have no problem with him spending his money somewhere else for less or even possibly for more, it's his choice.

Frank, I don't need the games, the offer is nice, but I think I'll wait to see if something better comes along, if it doesn't, and you are still interested at that price, then we'll see if we can come to an arrangement...

I am in no way required to accept the first trade offer since nothing has been pended, whether it's for cash or goods.

I really hate to contribute to the threadcrapping but you should consider the following:
All brand new ipods come with data transfer cables.
All brand new ipods come with brand new batteries
and All brand new ipods come with a usb charger and a wall adapter can be had for under 15$
Anyways, I'd say 150 is a fair price for this. I just can't believe the audacity of someone to offer 60$.

I had an even better condition one (still in plastic+zero scratches literally) posted for $180 for a couple weeks and hardly got any bites. Ended up offloading it locally on Craigslist for $165, which I consider fortunate at the prices I see now.

The prices on the 5.5s have plummeted with the new classics. People just want the newer 80s and 160s; despite how serviceable the old 30GBs are, they're just not as desirable.

$200's probably pushing it, especially considering the $240 80GB classic, but good luck with whatever you decide to do.

People... for heavens sakes, I didn't say I had to have $200 for it... I said $200 because $60 was a tad bit low... which in turn raised the offer to a more acceptable one.

Just to be clear... I WILL TAKE $155 FOR IT SHIPPED If you all need a money value on it... and be very happy to have that... but it's not a necessity for me to sell it... and if you've bothered to notice, that is about the price of any cash/trade combo's I've stated... Sure I'm going to ask for more just so I have some bargaining lee way...

I also told Frank if I didn't have any better offers I would seriously consider his cash offer of $120 if he hadn't already found another one.

You also have to consider I will have Pay Pal fees taken out of any payments unless they send a money order, I don't make people pay for them, although plenty on here do, and I'm not charging $10 or more for shipping either, even though it will probably be closer to $10 with insurance than the $5 I'm asking, although if there is a cash/trade combo, then I will drop the extra $5 shipping since they will be paying for shipping to me...

Well this IPOD didn't come with anything other than the belt clip leather holder... so although a new IPOD should come with a battery, this one is not new and the battery in it wouldn't function without being plugged into a charger.... hence the NEW BATTERY part which is important to be able to know the possible lifespan of the battery before you get it. Most come with a cable, but not with a wall charger, and not all cables are also for charging. The new transfer cable is one of the faster ones that support both firewire and usb connections. Software is available online.

BTW it's still available...

GoldenfrankO isn't interested... don't know about DirtyMarco, he hasn't responded...

As I said, the usb transfer cable doesn't specifically say that it charges, in which case I will assume that it doesn't, if it does then someone will have two ways of charging the IPOD.... The power supply cable doesn't transfer and specifically says it's not for transferring data. The wall power adapter is $30 new at Office Max, so probably a little cheaper elsewhere.

I'm not separating the package deal at this time.

J-Pok & PeteKelly, didn't see anything of major interest... What I am most wanting is Wii Fit w/board which I value at about $110 shipped, so maybe an extra decent game thrown in there with it... (doesn't necessarily matter what game, I can use PS3, DS, PSP, Wii games or trade it)

Or cash.. and I'll go find one myself... lol.. I can do PP credit card so that's not a problem, but because of the fees for credit card, and PP fees plus shipping/insurance, I'd prefer to keep the amount for the IPOD at $140 or wait for a trade for a Wii Fit. If you need to check more feedback, on Ebay it's max-the-chainsaw. (hubby's account)

You can view my wanted list for games I'm looking for, especially PSP Final Fantasy games, with Tactics being on the top of the list.. and I know they're worth $20 and up. Thanks.

Why not just sell the iPod for perhaps $110 shipped (a more realistic price). Shipping and Paypal fees won't likely exceed $10, so you'll be left with $100. That is certainly enough to cover Wii Fit and sales tax. They're not as hard to find as you might think. I found one by doing a store search at Wal-Mart.com. I found one maybe 15-20 miles away (they had several).

Why trade for a used one when you can just sell the iPod and buy a new Wii Fit? The reality is that at the price you've set and your willingness to really only trade for a Wii Fit, you're going to be sitting on this iPod for a LONG time. And the longer you sit on it, the more and more the value is going to drop.
