Now, I don't know if this is going to work for everyone or not, and I don't know if Amazon is going to come looking for the shipping money later or not, but...
Add things to your cart that qualify for FREE Super-Saver Shipping, go to Checkout, then when presented your shipping options choose "FREE Two-Day Shipping with a Free Trial of Amazon Prime".
Choose your payment type, click Continue. At this point it will tell you about the Amazon Prime trial, blah blah, blah...you're presented with two options. Choose the "No Thanks" button
It will take you to the final payment screen but will leave the 2-day shipping selected, and you'll note that it still subtracts the full $11.97 from the shipping.
Free 2 day shipping.
I checked my account settings and it still says I'm not signed up for Prime.

On a side note, Amazon has never charged me tax on anything. Why did they charge you?

Does South Carolina have a blanket sales tax? Washington doesn't have a STATE tax, but they have a flat-rate sales tax.

Tried, but didn't work for me. Picked up GTA4 Special edition for 43 bucks shipped snail anyway.

Found out why.....
Items sold by Amazon.com LLC, or its subsidiaries, and shipped to destinations in the states of Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, or Washington are subject to tax.

Yeah, if the distributor is in the same state as you you have to pay tax, that's why you see sellers say don't buy from me if you are in so and so state because then they would have to deal with taxes and crap. |

lol, bad luck to be in one of only 5 states with an Amazon branch...why the hell does it take like 2 weeks for my crap to come from Amazon then??

That did not work, but I bought a brand new PS3 yesterday, and went with the free super saver shipping, they just emailed me and gave me a tracking number, so I checked it, they sent it over night, I will be getting it tomorrow, and was not expecting it until after the first of the month, I now officially love amazon.

I'm in Indiana and I get taxed. One of their main warehouses is located outside of Indy. It's the one where they ship out a lot of the big items, like flat-screen televisions. |

There's not actual branch in NY....just a bunch of butt-hole senators that started charging internet sales tax like it was regular sales tax. |
