My favourite album from Air after The Virgin Suicides. I've read they've been spending a lot of time in their new studio pumping out tracks, so hopefully it won't be long before another quality release.

Standout tracks:
Be A Bee
Tropical Disease
Eat My Beat

I have this... it's okay. It's a little too sombre and moody and slow for me... I like when Air throw a few faster songs in the mix, like Radio #1 baby..

Agree that Virgin Suicides is their best. Moon Safari is a close 2nd, then 10000mhz.

I'm the opposite--I love their moody/slower stuff, which is why I think I love Virgin Suicides so much. I think I've maybe listened to 10,000 Hz Legend once. I'll have to throw it on sometime soon.

Ha, I know a band you would love if you like Air... I like em a LOT more than Air actually, their albums overall are a lot more varied.

Gusgus, if you haven't had the pleasure are Icelandic, and great moody electro stuff. Their earlier stuff is better than the newer few albums though.

Check out Polydistortion:
http://www.amazon.com/Polydistortion-GusGus/dp/B00...

and This Is Normal:
http://www.amazon.com/This-Normal-ENHANCED-CD-GusG...

They're the first 2 albums, and the best 2. I have all of them except the new one called "24/7"

on This is Normal, I hate the first song though... called Ladyshave. The next song is one of my faves though, Teenage Sensation..

I do know of Gus Gus, but they're a band I've really only skimmed over (the only songs of theirs I can think of off the top of my head are Purple and Gun). I'll check them out!

I can't tell if you think he misspelled a word, or if you just found a word that looks like another word and thought you'd point it out.

The neg placed on Broccoli's post leads me to believe the former, in which case, sombre is a word, and was used appropriately here.

both actually. I googled it and apparently you're right. I'm used to it being spelled "somber" though. It seems to be a difference in dialect. Either way I'm an idiot i guess.

Anyway I liked their new song sing sang sung, I take it that's a part of this new album too right?

Yep, that's on there. That's a song where the androgyny of Air's vocalist (dude on the right) really shines... I wasn't too fond of that song the first time I heard it, but it's grown on me a bit.

I guess it takes somber or sombre both as appropriate.

Anyway yeah... gusgus has some crappier music out there too... the early 2 albums are the best... it gets spotty after that.

Here's the albums I like best. Other albums have good songs, but not as consistent as these 2. That's just me though..

1st album Polydistortion:

2nd album This Is Normal:

Hey, I know that song too! But I know it from one of Sasha & Digweed's Northern Exposure CDs (I think it's East Coast?)

ahahahah.... I have some classic S+D from back in the day too... good times.

Did you ever manage to get this?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renaissance:_The_Mix_...

I grabbed one off ebay for 30 something bucks a few years ago.... it used to be quite rare. Not sure if it is anymore.. it got reissued as a 10th anniversary set too apparantly.

I have the reissue on my ipod, but I haven't listened to it too much yet. I like how it starts off with three versions of Leftfield's "Song For Life" though.

I picked up Air's Talkie Walkie on a whim a few months ago. I haven't heard it much, but I thought it was interesting. I'm gonna check out some of your recommendations Broccoli. I'm listening to Gus Gus's Believe as I type this. Pretty interesting.
