i have a 4GB flash i'm not using. just wondering does this feature really help anything? i'm guessing not. especially not games.

It's a flash disk cache. It's just holding a/the page file on your flash drive instead of your HDD.
If you have more than 1gb of RAM and a 7200RPM HDD you're not going to notice anything.

It was a big promise from windows, but unfortunately will not
help you in any performance gains.
it was a shame though!

Yeah, it's not great for the flash drive either.
