For a while now, I've really not liked the way the Status column looks on the Pending Trade list. It just seems disorganized or, at least, difficult to get to the info that I'm looking for.
Basically, most of the time, I want to be able to glance through it and see where I haven't shipped. And then sometimes also see who hasn't shipped to me and such.
With the multiple sentences of status lines, that READS nice -- looks fancy -- but just doesn't give me the info quickly and easily (i.e. I have to really watch for the "john has sent" lines in each one (or the lack thereof), since their location could vary depending on what the other guy has done -- and doesn't show up at all if I haven't shipped yet).
So, instead of doing it the way it is, what if it is more "standard." For example, always have the same trader on top (i.e. your own name on top and the other trader underneath -- or vice-versa, whichever is fine). Then, list the statuses regardless of if they have sent or not (right now, it doesn't list anything if they haven't sent).
So, instead of these:
Rubber_Thumb has sent.
john has sent.
Rubber_Thumb has not received.
john has received. |
ToadReaper has sent.
john has not received.
ToadReaper has not received |
...I think it would be much better like this:
john: sent, received
Rubber_Thumb: sent, not received |
john: not sent, not received
ToadReaper: sent, not received |
I think that would make it much easier to glance through and locate information quickly. Lines just not being there if I haven't done something (i.e. sent) just doesn't work well for me.
Thoughts?
Thanks...

It's a little terse with the colon, maybe I could replace your colon with a "has" to make it more readable.
Also, the "not sent" is something I don't do now and don't want to do... but, I can just skip that and still using your combined format (which I like). I don't want to say "not sent" because it may not be true and thus may cause problems. Some people don't remember to report they sent their side of a trade... it's an optional part of the system.
I think I can do this quickly... I'll try to do it right now. | bill

Ok -- looks better -- and I guess I can live without the "not sent" when it is like it s now. Thanks.
One last thing -- is it a big deal to make it so that the same person is always on top? That way, I can easily run through the list and see "john has..." on each one right away.

The person who created the pending trade is on top... I'm not sure what you mean by "same person is always on top".. the people listed change all the time. I guess I could try to force it so that if the viewer of the trade is one of the traders, it puts them on top? | John

Ah -- yes -- that's what I meant. That when you are looking at your own pending trades, you would always be in the same place -- to make it easy reference for you.
To be honest, I think that should be the main intent of the pending trades status. I can't see it being that critical very often to see the exact status when looking at someone else's pending trades...

Sure, it's the main reason.. though, it can also be useful to check someone else's trades... eg someone with a lot of pendings, to see the state of things. | John

Oh -- agreed. I just meant that since that is the main reason -- seeing your name in the same place might be convenient since many people will probably use it to probably check to see if they have anything to do any such -- so just seeing the top line being what you need to do would be great.

I really like that change. Looks great. I have a question/suggestion. Why is it that when I send and the other recieves, my 'sent' message is deleted? Currently I have a pending trade that looks like this.
DemonAlcohol has not received
chris88 has received
Why does it remove the statement I have sent? I think it would be easier to see all the details if the two states, sent/not sent and received/not received are always displayed.

How many websites can you make a suggestion and then have it implemented within a half hour?
Pretty amazing stuff.

Are you should you marked it "sent"... Checking the trade, I see no record of it... it's not in the log. Try marking it "I Have Sent" now... |
