There is a now a [keep new] link at the bottom of PMs (just to the right of the "Send Message" button).
Clicking [keep new] will cause the system to consider that conversation to still have unread messages in it. It will put it back to how it was before you read it.
This is very similar to the "save" feature available for forum topics.
It is useful if you read a PM and want to respond later. Use [keep new] and the system will show the new indicators ( next to "Messages" in the navigation bar, and  next to the conversation on the PM list page). Then, later, you can still quickly find the message and reply without losing track of it. |

now just need to be able to delete them, like the ones that get doubled up by the system, or ones from 3 years ago ;)
