To somehow add a feature where it would let us know someone added a new game to their available list? Kinda like "favorite seller" on Ebay? | DR_SPOCK

No it fudging isn't.
Here is an example of my email if that idea were to go through:
AlphakirA added, Brutal Legend (Xbox 360) condition, good; box yes, manual yes, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360) condition, good; box yes, manual, yes
DR_SPOCK added, Gears of War 2 (Xbox 360) condition, good; box yes, manual yes
Visc added ect ect
7 minutes later:
Reed added, Kingdom Hearts (Playstation 2) condition, good; box yes, manual yes
Now you see why that would be a stupid-ass idea?

Orgy, they're asking for you to be able to define which people are your friends/favorites. It's not like you'd get them for thousands of users.
Seems like this could be an RSS feed per user. Then you could subscribe to the feeds for the users you are friends with. Also, there would need to be a way to opt out, in case you didn't want people following your every move.

This sort of thing has been suggested before. The core idea being a "friends list" of some kind. Then, from there, you could add various ways you could track your friends. Seeing your friends recently added items would be one, but also their forum topics, their trades and other stuff. Stuff like status updates or "what game are you playing?" info could be added as well.
This is not a small feature, though. I would take a significant amount of work to set this up. We'd need a new page where you could manage your friend's list. Then, a page to give you friends info/updates/etc. Maybe you want email notifications and RSS feeds, etc.
In the past, when this came up, a lot of people had a negative reaction to the idea of adding "social networking" features to GameTZ (like so many other sites have done, mostly poorly). We're not facebook, why imitate them? ...that sort of thing...
Also, I'm going to be working on that rework of the site for many more months, so adding anything major during the next year is something I'll be very resistant too, since it means I'll have to write it twice (again after rework) and I just want to focus on the rework so I can finish that off and not have things in a weird state for too long. | Renaissance2K

Does it have to be real-time like an RSS feed? Wouldn't a daily e-mail - like the New Matches e-mails - be just as good? | bill

Sure.
Though, I'd actually like to move more in the direction of GameTZ sending less emails. Emails have a lot of issues. They get blocked by spam filters and just the more emails that go out, the more chance that they start being seen a spam. It's hard to tell why, but I assume some people just report GameTZ emails as spam, instead of disabling them. Then, a big server (AOL, Yahoo, etc.) will start blocking all emails from GameTZ. And, I have to then beg them to stop doing that. | metsfan718

I actually read it wrong. I read it as...have an e-mail alert sent when a specific item is added (regardless of who adds said item). This would useful for obscure items that don't often show up. It'd be nice to alter the parameters as desired (condition, completeness).
I wouldn't actually use this because I don't trade...BUT I STILL THINK IT'S A GREAT IDEA. In fact, I think it's better than the original idea. I think a lot of stupid things all at once and with great ease. | Mendo

maybe just bold the number everytime there is a change to its inventory in the system? or a new icon beside it?

Why not just have a thread somewhere saying "Post your MySpace/Facebook/Twitter/whatever else you have"? and then pick the people you wanna add to whichever service?

Have a feature that keeps restricting Orgy when his restriction time runs out until he stops crapping on people in any and every topic he posts in.
